As an avid rower for the best part of the last 15 years, the decline of our rivers and waterways is a huge concern. The increasing practice of dumping sewage has a detrimental impact on people being able to enjoy these spaces, and the biodiversity that makes up the ecosystem.

Just waited 1.5hrs @Twickenhamstad walk in vaccine centre. Turned away because they ran out of vaccines which means they've done 15000 today! Disappointed personally but proud so many young people turned out! You can't say we don't want the vaccine - just give us a chance!

Watching the Police and Crime Commissioner election count of doubtful votes this morning makes me even more determined to get elections and voting on the curriculum in schools. So frustrating to see spoiled ballots because the PR voting system was 'confusing' 😡

Slough Lib Dems welcome UN resolution calling for Ceasefire but argue it doesn’t go far enough.

News of a UN Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza for Ramadan is welcomed by the Liberal Democrats in Slough who were among the first to make such calls, back in November 2023.

BREAKING NEWS Watford Council just unanimously agreed to establish a leave policy for councillors 🥳 A personal win for me as it's the first report I have officially taken to Council, but more importantly it's a win for equality and opportunity in local government 🎉

I had the pleasure of attending a thank you event for covid volunteers at Runnymede Council this evening for helping at the foodbank during the pandemic. So emotional to think back about the thousands of people we supported and the amazing community spirit shown by so many ❤️

I met with residents in Cippenham to hear about a 33m telecommunications mast which has been erected behind their houses. The mast is less than 5 metres away from the closest houses and was installed without planning permission or communications to the local residents. 1/2

When work and passions collide 🌍 I had a great time at the @Envision_Racing Race Against Climate Change event this morning. Packed full of really engaging speakers, from a range of industries, everyone agreed we all have a role to play in 'putting the brakes on climate change'!

Can we have some more positive coverage of the #Olympics #rowing please? All of the BBC coverage starts with the losses as opposed to the fact that we just won our first ever medal in the men's quad sculls. Well done #TeamGB what a fantastic performance!

Of course there are going to be times when the chamber is empty because other important meetings take place e.g. group meetings to discuss their positions before voting in plenary

@SUTONGIROTCIP @Chiclanagirl Yes definitely old enough to be on the new fees system for university, and have to say I would rather be on this system than the old one given I have 30 years to pay it back with semi-favourable terms and then it's wiped - rather than it hanging over my head for eternity!

If you're going to make voter ID compulsory, then you have to make official ID cards or passports free of charge. There is no other way to ensure you don't disenfranchise a large section of the population

My thoughts on Voter ID: Having ID checks makes LOTS of sense in a place where there's high rates of voter fraud. However, the UK isn't one of those places. Voter ID will lower turnout disproportionately among certain demographics - that shouldn't be a deriable goal for anyone.
