. @camillalong is right. I took the Weinstein story to an editor years ago and was rebuffed on the basis that he was too powerful to offend. Sadly I am not confident that those at the top are any more prepared than they were to root out bullies, predators and abusers

The big element in the Boris story isn’t that there was a heated argument, it’s that the police were called. The police were called by the same person who recorded Boris and gave the story to the Guardian.

Those defending @MarkFieldUK exemplify one of the problems in the wider issue of violence against women - there are people who justify and dismiss it, who argue “she bought it on herself”. This attitude invites society to turn a blind eye. There should never ever be an excuse
