A Ukrainian man has been arrested for attempting to sink the €7m yacht owned by his boss - Russian arms tycoon Alexander Mijeev. He opened valves in the engine room and compartment - then told the crew to abandon ship. Hauled in front of a judge, he said "I'd do it again".

The crew and other workers at the Majorca port tried to stop the water leak and the yacht partially sunk. When the police arrived he turned himself in and assumed full responsibility. He told officers: "My boss is a criminal who sells weapons that kill the Ukrainian people."

One of the most exciting things about the Moderna vaccine is that unlike the Pfizer one which has to be kept at -75°C - this one stays stable for a month when kept at 2-8°C. Makes a huge difference when getting the vaccine out to hard to reach communities

@yuanyi_z Victoria state in Australia prohibits healthcare workers suggesting euthanasia - and Belgian doctors are told not to mention it to patients in case it is misinterpreted as medical advice. Perhaps Canada should institute similar rules - stories like this are disturbingly common

My story today: In 2012 Dr Abbas Khan travelled out to Syria to treat civilians in Aleppo. But the British surgeon was captured by the regime and killed in custody a year later. Now, eight years after Abbas’ death, his legacy is inspiring a new generation of doctors.

@theJeremyVine no one is to blame for this - but i think 17-24 year olds have probably had the worst time of all in this pandemic. No school, no freshers, limited socialising, no dating, insecure employment, cramped shared flats, working from home on a laptop on a bed. They've had a crap year.

Today in positive news: - The NHS plans to start vaccinating under 50s by the end of January. - Priority groups will be done by the end of Feb and all over 18s who want it, vaccinated by April. - That means 88.5 million doses delivered across England in just 5 months.

I'm not saying it was wrong to lock down, that we shouldn't all be making sacrifices. But the way the cookie has crumbled, young people have made a lot more of those sacrifices. After the pandemic might be a good time to rethink the social contract between the generations.

Sadly the day after i took this, the seal was mauled by a dog, taken to hospital and today has sadly passed away. As the thames gets cleaner it was so nice to see a seal hanging out here in London - such a shame that we aren't responsible enough to co-exist with them.
