I had a 68 year old lola who came in due to back pain. Me: nay, kelan to nag-umpisa? Lola: pagkatapos kong magcliff diving doc, pero mababa lang yon, mga 50meters lang. Me: hindi po yon mababa nay! Lola: nakalimutan ko na 68 na pala ako doc dahil sa sobrang excitement. Me: 🤭😅

15 years ago, nag-enrol ako ng BS MedTech sa SPC dahil akala ko taga-ayos sila ng sirang makina at computers sa hospital, parang engineer ng hospital lang. Kahit mali ang akala ko, tinapos ko pa din. Kumuha ng medtech boards, nagtrabaho, nagmedicine, hanggang sa naging doctor. 😅

When I was a medstudent, I worked as a part-time medtech teacher of MMFC and part-time medtech of MMGH. I needed also to maintain my 100% academic scholarship grant. I made it amidst 2 part-time jobs. I definitely believe that you, a full time medstudent, can do it as well! 👍

It’s okay to rest for a year or years before pursuing medical school. I took a year off before pursuing medicine. I took 2 years off before pursuing post-residency fellowship training. I had my pacing based on what I wanted, NOT what others wanted.

I was a proctor of paperless exam at DMSF 9F during 6.6 earthquake. I told all students to vacate the room after the quake.A student came back running Me: where are you going? S: I haven’t submitted my exam & logged out yet. M: forget about the exam,doctor. vacate the room.🤭😅

When I was a clerk, I performed cesarean section to my first cousin with her OB as first assist, and delivered a healthy baby boy. After 5 years, I circumcised that healthy baby boy. Now, that boy told me that he wants to be a doctor like me. I am smiling ear to ear. 😁

Nakakabwisit tong mga taong humihingi ng medical certificate at lagyan ko daw ng sakit para maprioritize sa bakuna. Mga kapatid at nanay ko nga di pa nabakunahan dahil di sila priority. Di ko din sila binigyan ng fake na sakit! 😤

I used to work for SPMC and for a government hospital in Compostela before I work here in PGH. Patients and specimens from other cities, municipalities and provinces were sent to SPMC. It covered atleast half of Mindanao. I saw the situation..😞

An elderly man from Davao de Oro brought these in my clinic as thank you gift during follow up check up, 2 weeks after their initial visit. He and his wife are so grateful that after almost a year of suffering from dyspnea on exertion, we are now able to control his COPD. 🙏😊🫁

Sinabihan ako na di ako dapat pabor sa divorce dahil kawawa daw ang mga anak kung di buo ang pamilya. Mas kawawa ang mga anak kung dysfunctional ang pamilya dahil sa away ng mga magulang. Kung di na kaya ng marriage counseling, divorce must be a choice - a regulated choice.

1/6 A 42 year old male patient was referred to me because of intractable hypotension despite adequate hydration and high dose triple inotropes. When I arrived at the ER, patient arrested in front of me. We revived the patient after 2 epinephrines.

I did therapeutic arthrocentesis to a 58 year old male in Samal Island who came limping and in severe knee pain. How I wish we have depo-medrol here in the island. Nevertheless, he went home comfortable and pain-free. PS: I got 10 buko as PF today. 😁

When I was a second year medstudent, I got grades of 72, 73, and 76 for History Taking and Physical Examination under an IM consultant. I was that bad in history taking and writing back then. Nobody becomes an expert overnight. 😁

I teach not because I want to be praised. I teach because I want my students to become better doctors than me in terms of intelligence and character.I am glad that I am given the chance to teach IMD students for two years before I will leave DMSF for further training next year.😊

Nasa barge ako’t naka-scrub suit papuntang clinic sa Samal nang biglang: Lalaki: hala naay doctor, injectionan gyud ka kung di ka magpuyo! Hala doc o, injectioni ra gud ni akong anak doc! Me: 😐 Hwag nyo pong gawing panakot ang mga doctor sa mga bata. Di kami halimaw. 🤦‍♂️

When I study, I use orange color highlighter for important terms, and neon green color for the phrases/explanation. Feeling ko nakakatalino sya. 😅

The 7-year old son of my patient is not yet baptized. He asked me to be his ninong on his baptism while he was hiding at the back of his mother. At nagmano pa sya before they left. I may not be jowable but I am ninongable naman. Haha 😂😅
