Not going to lie, I felt like more of a parent to 30 than a teacher today trying to keep all my little beans cool. Sent one home who was overheating, did constant forehead temperature checks and rotated them around the fan. Today was not fair on them.

Controversial post, but if you're a new teacher seeing all these excitable ECT posts with fancy resources and you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed...Nobody has time for all that once term starts and by 2nd yr fancy resources will be a thing of the past. I said what I said. 💁‍♀️

Just had my final observation feedback for ECT 1. I'm so overwhelmed by how positive it was that I honestly feel like crying. 4 yrs ago I was forced to drop out of my 1st attempt at teacher training and now it's a while different story. I've grown, I've learnt, I'm succeeding. 🥳

My phase leader told me my confidence and teacher presence has sky rocketed recently, and that made my day considering I had a cupboard cry first thing this morning. He's an amazing leader because he always communicates and knows it makes a difference being told these things. 😊

@MichaelRosenYes I teach poetry in music lessons so that my pupils can better understand rap. The majority of my demographic are rap-obsessed and by showing them where it all came from and how to write it, they have gained more respect for both and created some amazing work.

Observation complete! Feedback was entirely positive with some very tiny development points. They said it was lovely to watch, that I should be proud of myself and they think I've found my niche working with PMLD children. Couldn't be happier right now! 😭☺️

So we had staff from another school visit our provision to see best practise. Nothing like looking up mid-music session with my ASD group to see the face of my old deputy head - the man who had faith in me and put me forward for teacher training 4 yrs ago.

reaching out to those individuals to say that whatever you do is okay, and not living to work is also okay. I do my resources, I work bloody hard but I also go home at 3.20, barely work during the hols and I preserve my mental health. Don't compare yourselves to others. Be kind.

preserve the last remaining scrap of mental health I still had. I was signed off, my self confidence in pieces and everything went downhill. I lost alot of weight, was bed bound, didn't want to be alive and during this time also dealt with the passing of my friend and an illness

I know teachers are worrying about striking around SATs, but... I'm going to say it... SATs outcomes mean nothing once those kids get to secondary. They really don't. They'll get put in a set to start with, but it can all move around anyway. 🤷‍♀️

Had emergency circle time with my class because of lots of tears. They've been described as the most "emotional" class, but I put that down to the safe environment I've built so they can be in touch with their feelings and the oracy focus so they are able to articulate them.💜

@KaySocLearn I'd have to change whatever I was using every 30-45 mins because I have (and didn't realise at the time) endometriosis. I had to constantly leave lessons or run between lesson change overs.

@WhistleblowingT All SLT and staff at my old school were the same. Come in by 8.20, get your work done and leave at 3.20. Nobody was encouraged to stay, we were all taught how to manage our workload/time well.

@1_more_teacher @MrTs_NQTs 100% agree tbh. When I did it through university with no prior experience, I really struggled as schools expected me to know so much already from just a 2 week volunteer experience prior. I think it should be mandatory to have a year experience as a TA first!
