I'm not concerned about Andrew Tate as an individual. What is / should be concerning is multiple supposedly independent companies move seemingly in perfect unison to block a speaker's access to billions of people, as if directed by a central body.

Inherent conflict between the David French approach and the Lindsay/Rufo approach. French is from a better time. Lindsay/Rufo saw the tactics of the social-media era activist left (ex. forced redefinition, negative associations, hyperbolic labeling) and adopted them to the right.

That kind of power can be used in extremely anti-democratic ways. While 1A doesn't cover private biz, the private/government action distinction is becoming increasingly blurred. We should be very skeptical of any organization (left or right) wielding such discursive power.

For people responding "the free market." The entire question is whether the market is actually free. If independent companies representing 80/90% of social media users are coordinating at the top is that a "free" market? Also there's the *possibility* of government direction.

If there’s to be a grand narrative of the US taught in K-12, the old one holds. The country was founded on the loftiest ideals of any country ever. Glaring hypocrisies existed at the founding. We’ve spent ~250 years on a positive *trajectory* of better living up to those ideals.

@FistedFoucault I miss a “dropping by” culture that I’ve never experienced. Because we have instant communication everyone expects there to be coordination. I’d love to both have people drop by my place and to drop by others’. We gained the group chat, we lost the spontaneity.

@NewLiberalsPod Imagine anyone looking at Adichie and thinking she was anything resembling a conservative. This whole spiral ends when the sensible liberals forcefully shut down the nonsense coming from the fringes. Stop letting them gaslight us with “harm” and “violence” rhetoric.
