@Imani_Barbarin This is something I've noticed in white-dominated trans spaces but put into far better words. There's this overt centering of white trans people as the default trans experience. Many of us will advocate for trans rights while ignoring true intersectionality and it's awful.

I get really uncomfortable when the white transfeminine experience is seen as the standard or default trans experience. Trans PoC deserve to be seen. Trans people in non-white countries deserve to be seen. Trans men and transmasculine people deserve to be seen.

It's a perspective that is crucial to supporting people of color.

My grandparents called me for the first time since shit went down Christmas Day. They said "Hello [deadname]" and I thought "Here we go again" but then they asked how I pronounce my name. I told them and they both said "Happy New Year's Kira!" Maybe things will work out!
