Members of Ontario branch of Canadian Assoc of Physicians for the Environment have launched a letter-writing campaign to MPPs to to stop the 413 Hwy. Traffic emissions and debris from tires are toxic particles. “The more roads you build, the more traffic will result.” Thank you!

Province failing, Peel steps in. May 3rd vendors conducting work in the community on behalf of the Region must show proof they provide a minimum of 2 days’ paid sick leave for their employees. The pilot program will be in effect 12 months and then reviewed. Well done Peel staff!

Urgent dentist visit yesterday. A real learning experience. My dentist, one of thousands in Ontario, has 4000 patients. She gives needles for freezing daily. Wants to know why the province isn’t enlisting all dentists to vaccinate their patients for Covid as a public service?

I can’t understand why a majority of Caledon councillors support the 413 while the rest of us want to protect the sheer beauty of villages, green belt, farmland, rivers and streams. Logic would dictate the exact opposite. We struggle for patches of parkland while they seek…what?

JUST SAY NO! 467 landowners got letters asking permission for provincial snoops to enter lands to prepare for 413 Hwy. One farmer can’t understand why it’s being built “with 500 foot elevation changes…crossing the river so many times” and it will take ten years to build. SAY NO!

Stretch of 407. Folks have landed small planes on it. Shifting 12-21,000 trucks a day to 1 east, 1 west toll free lane would cost the province $260m/year or $4B over 30yrs and could happen immediately. 413 Hwy, ripping thru Caledon, will take 7-9 yrs to build at $10B. No brainer!

Today, March 15, is the point of no return. I have resigned as Ward 5 Councillor to plunge full time into the race for Mayor - with no safety net. It’s a matter of principle and full commitment, allowing the Ward by-election to also take place June 10, saving taxpayers $500,000.

Worst pain in the world. My dear “Teddy Bear”passed today just short of 13 wonderful years with us. His favourite spot was under the kitchen table, never knowing what would fall! He also answered to the Polish “Tadeusz”. A gentle, sweet boy with a huge heart - mine is breaking.

The Superfan Nav Bhatia Foundation signed a letter of intent, donating $150,000 to upgrade 3 on 3 and one NBA outdoor basketball court in Paul Coffey Park, Malton. True to the first hometown Nav had in Canada, he’s generously contributing to the expansion of the sport he loves.

Region of Peel Council voted 18/6 in favour of stating strong opposition to construction of proposed GTA West Highway and in principle to any major transportation corridor traversing the Region, & to request a Federal EA in place of the accelerated provincial one. Great decision!

Slick pollsters tried to tell Mayor Crombie and myself they had polling results showing huge support in 905 area for Hwy 413. EKOS found quite the opposite. 74% of 905ers say greenbelt is no place for a new 4-6 lane highway, paving over 400 acres of greenbelt. Sensible folks.

Good decision by Dr.Loh to use his Section 22 powers to close Peel schools for two weeks. Every teacher, caretaker & other school employee should be vaccinated during that two weeks no matter what age. Who gets vaccinated is unfortunately still up to the provincial government. 😩

Peel has 80% of GTA warehousing. Recent testing showed 43/208 companies in this sector are not COVID compliant. 617/5000 Amazon employees tested positive.They go home to families who then travel on transit, shop in grocery stores and attend schools. VACCINATE IN WAREHOUSES NOW!

@emerson905 @PeelPolice Have proposed that to the owners. Problem is they have fast food stores, a Shoppers and Tim Hortons that would lose a lot of business with driveway entrances blocked after 10:00. The police have done several blitzes but can’t be there every night. Working on it.

Many less fortunate in our city do not have bank accounts and will have to use cheque cashing outlets that charge large fees. A government cheque is a safe cheque. All banks need to volunteer to cash these cheques at full value and other outlets at no fee, please.

I received my second dose of Pfizer Covid Vaccine this morning, Friday June 11th. Feels good to know that in two weeks I will be as safe as is possible in this pandemic. The folks at UTM made it a very smooth and pleasant process. Smiles all around. Folks, please get vaccinated!

Dr. Amit Arya, palliative care physician in Mississauga, on CBC this morning. Telling the truth, making sense! Slow vaccine roll out by ineffectual governments on federal and provincial levels, especially in hot spots of Toronto and Peel are the problem. Peel only 8% vaccinated!

George Carlson chaired his last Planning Committee meeting last evening before retirement. Truly admired by City staff, Commissioner Whittemore presented him with an Honorary Municipal Planner Certificate. Lots of applause, good wishes and laughter. He will be truly missed.

Interesting detailed investigation into Ford government’s attack on Holland Marsh - vegetable basket of Ontario - tens of thousands of cars, pollution of Lake Simcoe and surrounding watersheds, plus 3,100 acres of new subdivision sprawl. Ford saying “yes” to all the wrong folks.

Minister, some of us fought hard for fourplexes today. You would have been so proud of 14/15 delegates who were extremely supportive. Especially the half who we’re young persons who researched extensively and showed they cared deeply. They were brilliant. So proud of them.

Canada is in a housing crisis. More than ever, we need cities to legalize housing by getting rid of antiquated approaches to zoning. Mississauga City Council's move to reject key initiatives that would help create the homes the City needs is very concerning.

Incredibly sad week for my family. Nephew slipped on stairs, fell hard, causing irreparable brain injury. One brief moment can change our lives beyond the worst situation we can imagine. Mothers should not have to bury their children. Hold those you love close.💔

STAR EDITORIAL: 80% of Covid cases in 20% of province. “Why not send a much greater share of available vaccines to those areas? Let’s say 80%?” Hard to tell less affected regions to wait while necessary workers, who have to leave home, get vaccinated. Helps all of us in 3rd wave!

Huge thank you to 🧑‍🚒 Mississauga Fire for taking care of the less fortunate in our City. Yesterday, in that terrible heat, they delivered food baskets and PPE to every unit in two Peel Housing buildings in Malton as part of their community outreach. Thank you to all who care.

Incredible tragedy with death of 3-year-old Zaid Abdullah. Extensive search by Peel Regional Police, Peel paramedics and Mississauga Firefighters at Erindale Park with Credit River flowing through it. My heart breaks for parents who have only been in Canada 2 months from Sudan.

In fact Mississauga City staff were sending me regular updates and photos. Crowds in orderly lines encircled the entire arena after 1:00 through to 6:00pm. Close to 80,000 votes were cast according to the organizers. All participants and protesters were respectful.

Malton Youth Hub: Jonathan Davis Centre formally launched! Huge crowd. Councillors Dasko and Horneck most welcome. Acting Mayor Kovac did an amazing job - witty and jovial. Chief Nish. Minister of Mental Health and Addiction Michael Tibollo was very impressed with the facility.

Interesting read. Mississauga Council put in FOI request to Minister of Municipal Affairs’ office regarding lobbyists. We paid $7000 deposit and were told the report would be forthcoming April 2021. Nada… not even an update. Congrats to Toronto Star who did their own digging.

Sad commentary on this election. Destruction of expensive, difficult-to-recycle chloroplast signs is leading me to believe we need to ban lawn signs entirely. Ridiculous amount of time fighting unscrupulous opposition workers tearing them down. May be time to ban them entirely.

Westwood Square, Malton was jammed. There are only 33,000 residents and counts for tonight put the crowd at 18,000. So happy we introduced a full blown Canada Day event 9 years ago with an amazing fireworks show. Thank you to the Malton BIA for making this an annual event. .

Pressure beginning to increase re the GTAWest superhighway schedule to slash through the best agricultural land and green belt area of Ontario. Agricultural associations, universities and environmental groups questioning the benefits of a 30 second reduction on a 50km trip!

On way to Peterborough area on 407. Can see how a small plane landed on it three weeks ago. Have seen one truck only, army vehicle, in over an hour. Guessing they are all on the 401. Pay for a truck lane here and forget the Developers’ Delight 413.

Number one grandson Jake is on his way to Laurier for Kinesiology in September. The whole family is very proud of this young man. With life returning to normal, hopefully university will be a great and successful experience for a truly wonderful kid.

This incredibly gorgeous park with one kilometre walking trail and lovely picnic areas, on Matheson west of Hwy10, will have its Official Opening May 14th. SAIGON PARK was named to pay homage to the thousands of Vietnamese who have contributed their hard work to our growing City
