I believe 99% of Edmonton Oilers fans will be cheering for Jesse Puljujarvi who has joined the Pittsburgh Penguins on a free agent tryout after being cleared for full-contact training earlier this week. A failure as a first round draft choice here, he was well-liked as a person.

Just filed my Joey Moss column. He'd suffered a broken hip recently and has had Alzheimers for a couple years. Joey Moss inspired thousands of Down syndrome families and was more famous and more beloved than most of the Oilers and Eskimos players. Died this afternoon.

It makes sense for Oilers to be talking trade involving Cam Talbot. Agree or disagree, they're all in with Koskinen. Talbot has value and they have goaltenders developing. But I hate it when you ship out a guy who was all-in on making Edmonton his year-round home.

Halloween as a kid involved hitting 100 houses in Lacombe. Then we headed to a costume judging event. I won it one year when my mom dressed me as a tramp. Our house was must-hit because of mom’s famed popcorn balls. She made 300 of them one year. Lost her this month. She was 97.

As good of an old-time game as Oilers 5-3 win over Tampa was tonight, the second period Jack Michaels had in the broadcast booth was better. He totally recognized the special game he was calling, shared his elation and got a chance to showcase his boxing blow by blow talent.
