— ships This year's ship stats are not all that surprising if you've been around the BTS ficdom for a while (or have followed these stats over the years). Taekook still steadily takes the lead, with jikook and yoonmin close behind. Vope, jinmin and vmon close the ranking.

— ships This year’s ship stats look like this. It comes as no surprise that taekook takes the lead once again, followed as usual by jikook and yoonmin. In the tail end, most notably 2seok has made quite a jump up (second to last in 2020) and vmon sinks to the very last.

Now, Let's look at relative growth! 2seok has known the biggest increase, jumping by 9%- visible in the ship ranking as well, where they jumped up to #15 , higher than ever! The biggest loss goes to vmin, who get bumped to #7 .

— overall as somewhat expected, the numbers of bts fic on ao3 keep dropping. we wrote 28.245 fics, which brings us back below 2018 levels. on a more cheery note though, we finished about 19.032 of those, which is 67.4%. congrats to everyone who contributed!

— overall In 2022, the BTS fandom updated 35.106 fics. A lot has happened in the past year, and so it's not that surprising that less fic was written compared to previous years! Here’s the overall progress of the total amount of fics.

ADDENDUM 1: the ranking with otp:true filter. in total these count for around 26k fics (a bit over half of all fics) and i think it makes the most sense stacked with the total amount (chart 2), as with the comparison i guess it's a bit of an indicator of the amount of mistagging

3. I count all relationship tags.There’s no way for me to account for mistagging here: I know the “otp:true” filter exists, but this filter will only return fics with *just* that pairing, so it would throw out a lot of fics that are actually relevant as well.

A point I don't see in the qrts: locked fics. Locked fics aren't scraped for data vis like this and the concern about AI data scraping definitely coincides with the drops. (Forgive me if this is covered in ops methods)

@theeverknowing it's possible but i think, if you look at this linearly, it's kind of in line with the last years, maybe just a tad lower. but maybe it's also just that 2020 was unexpectedly high bc there were lockdowns and people were home with a lot of time to write
