@joeygllghr @Ace_Chilly I’m a boomer. You have a valid point. I paid for my first semester of college in cash. $400. A goodly sum in 1979 - but doable in the context of a summer job. I did end up borrowing to complete school. Even with my financial help, my kids debt load was far higher.

@KayeSteinsapir I have met some very kind people since my son died. One guy said to me “tell me about your son”. I will never forget it. Another was a dad of whose son was killed at columbine. We talked for an hour. Others also of course - I remember them all and have tried to pay it forward.

So today is the ninth anniversary of my sons death. As much as I try to not have this day, this date, impact me it still does. I’d rather not even acknowledge it - seems to be beyond me. It seems both long ago and just yesterday at the same time. Life can be hard. Take care all.

Every state DOT publishes extensive information on projects, costs, funding sources etc. Also published is information on upcoming (programmed) projects. Most (but certainly not all) federal DOT money goes through a state or local govt.

Are they more expensive? Based on my experience no - it’s close to a wash cost wise - because competitive bids
