Kendall Coyne Schofield is the first player to ever lift the Walter Cup. She was a key pillar in the foundation of the league and fought so hard to make it happen. What a great full-circle moment.
Just got off the phone with Mass Governor Maura Healey who told me that the state is prepared to honor
@PWHL_Boston
with a Duck Boat parade if they were to win the championship tonight
Swayman on Hockey Is For Everyone night:
"Really special getting to see those kids come out on the ice tonight, seeing the smiles on their face and having some dreams come true, but they've got to know that they're an inspiration for us too."
Happy to be a part of this historic broadcast!
For the 1st time ever there will be an all-female broadcast of a men's
@hockey_east
game in the history of the conference.
4pm puck drop on NESN+, see you there!

Watch:
I don't really know how people can look at this and say anything bad about Pasta. Yes, he knows he's probably going to get his ass kicked. Yes, he did it anyway.
Swayman after Game 3 win: "I think for me personally, I don't want rest. I just want to keep playing. No matter when I get the call, whether it's back-to-back or every other game I want to make sure my body is ready and I'm ready to perform at my best.”
Montgomery said lack of scoring was a key issue for the Bruins in Game 6 and in this series:
"I didn't sense frustration. But the lack of our ability to score in the playoffs in general, you can't win every game 2-1."
Eichel on Cassidy (cont.):
"The way that he changed our game and just pushed guys, held everyone accountable, and the way that he was able to get us to play. It was great, he was phenomenal, he was great all year."
Swayman told me the story behind his Red Sox inspired mask. He's a big Red Sox fan and has toured Fenway Park several times.
"I got the boys right on the mask. I got David Ortiz, Curt Shilling and Ted Williams. I was really excited to do some tributes to them."
Poitras says he feels ready for his NHL debut:
"I'll be ready when Wednesday comes...For me it’s telling myself I belong here and I believe that I can play at this level, so I'm just going to be confident and play my game."
Montgomery said he took a page out of Bill Belichick's playbook to help his team 'block out the outside noise.'
He said his team stayed in a hotel last night to keep distractions away and try to change the mindset since the team had struggled in home playoff games.
Montgomery giave an update on Ullmark's upper body injury - "we're pretty confident he's okay."
Says Ullmark has full range of motion and that he and Smith are most likely both day-to-day.
I think this pick makes a lot of sense for Boston at pick No. 25. He fits a need for a center and his size is a plus. I think Sweeney is confident that he'll have a good system to develop in at BC.
The Bruins take center Dean Letourneau 25th overall. 6-foot-7, raw, but lots of upside. Heading to BC this fall. Will require patience, but the physical tools are rare, especially late in the first round.
One good coaching decision we might look back on tonight by Montgomery is the decision to send Geekie out with Pastrnak and Zacha for that shift at the end of the 1st period. He won the o-zone faceoff and a few seconds later Pastrnak scores with 7.8 seconds left on the clock.
After Swayman's contract takes another ~$8 million out of the Bruins cap, they'll only have just over $3 million to spent to try to fill that gap at 2nd line right wing
Not producing Fitzy and Mego today because I'm covering the Bruins game but this is the text I get mid game 😂 having a lot of fun without me!

@WEEI
Bill Belichick, asked by
@Meghan_Ottolini
about picking 15, says: “This is about where we were when we took (Nate) Solder, a couple spots ahead of that. But we’ll see. Where we start on draft day, and where we finish up, is never a certainty. We’ll be prepared for whatever comes”
The Bruins' intro video on the center ice video board added the highlight of Ullmark trying to fight Tkachuk as the last highlight of the pump up video for Game 5
Montgomery on Lohrei's future in Boston:
"We know he's going to be a big part of our future, we're seeing it, he's a real good hockey player. It's just a matter of time."
Back when I was doing play by play for UMass hockey games they were finishing at the bottom of Hockey East. I still can't believe they won, 5 years later, and I couldn't be happier
The first ever PWHL game broadcast was seen by 2.9 million Canadians, and was the number one sports or entertainment program of the day across all networks in Canada according to the league.
Bergeron confirmed he was healthy going into the Montreal game and that game is when he suffered the back injury,
"if I had a crystal ball, I wouldn't have played in the game."
Montgomery on Pastrnak's unselfish pass to get Coyle his 1st career hat trick: "they're incredibly unselfish and thoughtful people, and it shows in the way they love playing for each other."
Pastrnak said he immediately thanked Coyle for the pass that set up his hat trick into the empty net. It was payback for the set up goal pasta gave him for his hat trick earlier in the season.
The Bruins have lost just their 5th game at home all season. It's Ullmark's 3rd loss at the Garden this season.
Ullmark is 24-3-1 at the Garden this year. 1-1 in the 2023 playoffs.
Working the overnight shift at
@WEEI
and drunk guy called in 3 times saying "Lucy let me talk to
@bradfo

This week:
-Mike Gorman called his last regular-season game after 43 years broadcasting the Celtics
-John Sterling retired after 36 years as the voice of the Yankees
-Jack Edwards announced his retirement after 19 years as the voice of the Bruins
Woke up and ate half a bag of chocolate chips for breakfast then went to work and talked to Tom Brady... Needless to say today I'm living my best life 😂
The Hockey East Tournament sold out TD Garden both Friday and Saturday. It's only the 3rd time the whole weekend has sold out and is the first time since 2005 during the NHL lockout.
Montgomery says Justin Brazeau (who was just signed to a 2-year, 2-way contract today) will be in for Jakob Lauko.
No update on whether or not Oskar Steen cleared waivers but Montgomery says he was happy with what Steen brought and hopes he remains a Bruin.
