My youngest daughter made a cake(s) for my eldest daughter’s birthday. I think it’s pretty special. All that lockdown baking was good practise. She’s also made tiramisu, pavlova etc etc Party 🎉 tonight Chez Bones 💃🏻 💃🏻 💃🏻 🪩 couldn’t be prouder of both 😍
My daughter awaiting A’Levels & 18th birthday says ‘Mum, I’m not gonna stress. It will be what it will be. We are the ‘Covid kids’ and we will go on to properly prove ourselves as adults!’ 💪🏼 That’s my girl! 🥰
@TheMontyDon
My incredible mum & lifelong gardener had a stroke June 2019 while clipping hedges. She was a NHS psychiatric sister, now in total lockdown in a care home, she can no longer stand & 1 hand is paralysed. I sent your book. She says she can’t thank you enough 🙏
Since I’ve lost my husband, dad and now father in law in quick succession I find men’s depts in shops hard to walk through. I want to buy as usual then feel sad that my main men are gone. 😣So, I’m going to buy and give to 3 fellas who’ve chosen to live in ⛺️ instead 🙌🏻💕x
It’s 10 weeks today since my husband David died. Tough time. However I cannot thank wonderful edu-Twitter buddies, schools & organisations enough for all the kind messages, flowers, cards, gifts, amazing donations nearly £5K
@samaritans
. You truly are one big special team. 🙏💕🥰
Teachers please don't forget all these freebies; quizzes, sample questions, example answers for all subjects. GCSE and A'Level. Might save you and year 11 or 13 some time. Please share with your students - you're welcome 😇
12 months ago this lovely fella closed those twinkly blue eyes for the last time. We miss him every day. I want to thank 🙏all my AMAZING mates & Twitter pals who have kept me going. Teachers leave an immense legacy & David certainly has. Don’t be alone with grief keep talking 💕
Woolworths Photo Booth summer 1993 trying to be serious, about to become NQTs! 🥰Lost lovely Mr Bones two years ago today. He was all about the fun 🤩 & lives on in the thousands of students upon whom he had such a positive impact. Teachers pls know what a difference you make 💕
So my ‘baby’ sent me this ✈️ pic this morning. Gone from
@UniofNewcastle
to become a History student at Uni of NSW Sydney 🇦🇺 Touching down with her 🎒 heading to new flat with German & Italian girls in Bondi. 🤯 So proud & I’m sure her late dad would be too! 💥💪🏽

My youngest daughter awaiting GCSE results says ‘I’m not sure if I’m gonna feel lucky or cheated. It shouldn’t be a gamble like this. Think I’ll do something more definite and make a cake for Niamh’ 🥳 These amazing young people are the future. I learn from them every day.
Overwhelmed by the kindness

My daughter in from school after A’Level History lesson is totally full of it tonight. Her brilliant teachers just talked to the class for 90 mins. She’s so informed, getting maps out, asking questions, making connections, hypothesising. 🇺🇦 the future lies with these young ppl 🙌🏻
Calling teachers of Elizabethan England. A privilege 🤩to be working on teacher support materials

Never actually told them…they are 19 & 20 now! When in their mid teens one said, it must be Father Christmas though…you and dad would never buy all this stuff! 😝Keep the 🪄 magic going as long as you can I’d say! X
So I am officially the proudest Mum in the world with a graduate 🧑🎓 daughter! 💕After 4 years that started with Covid

As we approach the end of the school year (my 30th but 1st without the fella I met on PGCE) the lovely
@SPBeale
sent me this to mark our collab. I have taken myself off here many times so it’s flipping special. Thanks to all you Twitter beauties for keeping me going! 🙌🏻💕
Fathers Day tomorrow & I’m flanked here by 2 amazing dads. My own dad who for the first time won’t be with us on Earth & my children’s dad who we lost 2 years ago. They were best buddies, a couple of beauts! If you are a bit sad gain strength from the love & good times ❤️ 🤗 x
Every HISTORY classroom needs maps in my view. I have been known to laminate them & stick on the desks so we get a sense of where the action happened. 🌍

Thank you 🙏 for honouring David in this way. We are bowled over by the gesture. He was really modest & lots of tributes describe his as a top boss, cared for & ambitious for his colleagues so he’d love to keep celebrating others! 💕 x
Delighted to announce a new prestigious
@Teachmeeticons
annual teaching award - The David Bones Impact Award. This will be an award for a special teacher nominated by you, across all our subject communities. It'll be awarded in person next year in Sheffield at

Might save you a job, subject or pastoral possibly useful to set the 🎲 rolling once back to school to map experiences & check starting points. Thanks to
@OTeaching
@87History
for inspo. Can be adapted for any subject, this has a History slant. 🤗
Let’s crank up the challenge with round two of lock down youngest daughter decided it calls for a touch of marbling. 😋 Hope this makes you smile & it can be a happy Friday for you.
This just about sums up clearing stuff out of my parents house/family home. Everything kept 💕It’s a long, tough job. Dad died this summer & mam can no longer live there. Life moves on and sometimes it’s not easy. I know many of you have had to do this. Cherish the fun times. X
A beautiful award for a beautiful person. I could not be more delighted that
@MrAllsopHistory
is the inaugural winner of the
@TMHistoryIcons
Impact award voted by the teaching community. He relentlessly uses his intellect & kindness for others. David would approve
Visiting my mam earlier I said ‘You realise you’re the only person in the care home cheering 📣 for 🇮🇪?’ She said ‘I don’t mind a bit because I’ll be cheering for the winning team!’

Such a reaction to this interview I am truly overwhelmed. It wasn’t easy but I’m glad I did it. I’m so moved that it has helped others. Please know you are not alone and let’s try to turn sad feelings into something positive for those who are still alive this Christmas 🎄💕x
'I'm doing what I did before, but in a different way. It's a new tradition'
Shopping at Christmas can be harder than just finding the right gift. For people whose loved ones have died, it is a reminder of their loss.
@bones_carmel

My pal’s business ‘citadel florist’ based at the station 🚉 sadly folded during lockdown. Undefeated (aged 74) she’s been operating from her terraced house. I think she’s still got it!

Delighted to say Carmel Bones Education is 10 🎂 🥳 years old on Wednesday. It could take me all that time to thank everyone who has made that possible so I’m starting early🤗with the birthday thanks 🙏 Personally it’s been a v tough time but professionally you guys have been👌🏻x
Was anyone else taught as a child at school never to write Xmas (that’s the first time I’ve ever written it) because you’re taking the Christ out of Christmas...or was that just my experience?! 🤔
Feel so sorry for the local eateries who fed local children for free last week and this week have to close. 😔Please visit these establishments in the future when you can. Support small local businesses please. Kind, creative entrepreneurial people trying their best.
Saturday nights can be tough for people sometimes so here’s a bit of ❤️ if you need it. My daughters came home from Uni for my birthday and this was the 🎂 conjured up today! Raspberry & white chocolate 😋
Really feeling it for Y13s, my daughter is one. Never having done GSCEs these A’levels are looming large. We must remind them all that we are off the scale proud of them given the tremendous difficulties they have faced at a seminal point in their young lives 💕💕💕 🤗
Top night with

Non History teacher pals are currently quite taken by Pepys Diary...realising what they can learn about human behaviour in the present if they read about the past...
Beautiful blast💥up Blencathra today or Saddleback if you prefer. Like another world up there. I increasingly think fell walking is the answer to everything!
So return to school & it’s GCSE History tomorrow for roughly 1/4 million young people. Every good wish to you all, your teachers, parents & carers. 😀 Some revision in store this afternoon 🤞🏼
I had a Saturday night job as a teenager washing up in a restaurant. The lovely fair boss paid me in cash every week. He gave me more money if we had a good night. He died from AIDS. I’m watching

& it’s taking me right back. My daughters are incredulous at the prejudice.
@HallieRubenhold
Fascinating to think there were rehab centres in the 19thc and yet there is still stigma around addictive illnesses today. As with all situations ignorance must be overcome by research and education.

This is Craig, my hairdresser, getting ready to go to work. I used to teach him! He texted and said, I’m kinda glad you taught me all that Medicine Through Time stuff now! Good luck Craig & everyone else who is back in business today. Customers please be kind & sensible. 🙏🏻
As I learn all kinds of differences in Scottish schools compared to England; prelim vs mock, jotter vs book, janny vs caretaker, play piece vs break-time snack, Rector or Headie vs Head my newest one
