On my last day working in Footlocker. Whitney Houston came in. I told my manager I was gonna run buy a disposable camera and get a photo. They said no. I didn’t care. It was my last day. I sat down on the shop floor and took my picture 😂
Do you see the small difference in headlines. Why didn’t
@JohnBoyega
headline state he wins praise before focusing on the negative. The difference in reporting are the small things that lead to the big things!
“Because it’s not you, doesn’t mean it can’t be you”. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere never forget that.

Squid game is proof a show doesn’t need to be whitewashed to succeed and be a global success. Number 1 in 90 countries so far…. I don’t want to hear any crap about a show needed a white lead ever again!
I have made it my mission to not move for certain people because in all honest they expect Black people to move out their way all the time. If you see me and you don’t shift slightly, you will meet my shoulder. Im ready to even bump heads at this point. Just so you’ll learn.
woke up expecting (naive of me) to see Daniel Kaluuya face plastered everywhere! WHY??? Cos he is the bloody first UNDER 30s young black British man to be NOMINATED FOR A BEST ACTOR! 1st! So if it’s not headline news in the press uk twitter lets stand up!
The exec for I’m a celebrity that put Farage on I are all complicit in this. They helped a racist to rebrand as the everyday British man by platforming him for entertainment, well hope you’re all entertained now.
These stories stay online long after the events. History then favours white allies that the Black people who speak up first. We have to deal with these unconscious bias everyday of our lives. How you write about us has to change!
I truly want Air peace to succeed. These international airlines exploited Africa for far too long.
They give us old planes, rude staff and the price has never been worth it.
I pray Air peace gives customers the best experience and in return customers are kind to the staff.
The world needs to hear the people! Having an iPhone doesn’t make you a criminal! And demanding a fee to let them go means the corrupted police system is rotten to the core!
#EndSARS
He really asked The ASHER D if he remember his lyrics for 21 seconds when there are some of us who will be singing this song to our grandkids at parties!
Except the lyric we all go quiet on cos we don’t worship the……21 second is not just Black British culture it’s pop culture
A survey was taken that most people have more meaningful conversations in the car than around the dinner table... so I took up the challenge and wrote a short play in a car.
My mum still can’t get her head around the fact that my generation invites you to a restaurant for their birthday and expects you to pay. It’s so wild to her. I remember the first time I had to ask her for money in college. She told me I couldn’t go. 😂😂😂
On this day in 1916, Ota Benga, an African native who suffered inhumane treatment by being kept in a zoo, committed suicide.
He had been kidnapped in 1904 from Congo, and taken to America and exhibited at the Bronx Zoo with monkeys.
A THREAD!
I found out yesterday it’s all a scam. Uber and bolt drives cancel…. The algorithm reports that it’s a busy area/demand is high. More cars need to come. They add a surcharge. The driver then accepts the ride at the inflated price. Happened to me yesterday at 10pm in a quiet area
Omg!! I have been trying to get a cab for over 1.5 hours!! Bolt.. Uber they kept accepting and cancelling.. never doing this again.. I called a local cab and they wanted £60!!???? I didn’t know it was this BAD!!!
The creative industry is in the state that it is because of things like this. This isn’t a hate tweet.
I do feel for the many hardworking actors and models who are pushed to the back of the queue because viral and sensational events catapult individuals to top of the queue.
We’ve got to stop rewriting history... king sunny Ade 1984 performed in Crystal Palace sunsplash as one of the headlining acts. t’s not impossible, it’s been done. Let’s pay homage and not erase the legacy of artists who have come before.
For those of you asking about the Aunty riding a horse in Peckham. The creatives behind it. Writer/director
@adeyemimichael
short film will reveal all. Love it! Power image 🙌🏿
How do the people who don’t agree with a ceasefire see this and not feel any empathy? How can you see a human being in pain like this and think they deserve it? My heart aches watching this mother go through this traumatic experience. We need this to end now!
Let me just say this. It was 3 black writers who gave John his first break in theatre and he continue to have a career because we won’t sit by and watch him get blacklisted. This is the fear many have of speaking up but I tell you. Today it stops. Be unapologetic in your purpose
Office is close, invoice is unpaid.
There is a reason the people that survive the creative industry are all trust fund kids who mums and dads have paid off their mortgages.
I am going to rant this morning, typical British media are part and parcel one of the reason when BLACK BRITISH CREATIVES go to Hollywood they don’t come. They don’t get celebrated here!
My aunt who loved me just as much as mum did, died of Covid this morning and as painful as it is right now. I’m grateful I was connected to a beautiful soul. She made my childhood. I was a happy child because of her. All my fun memories are with her.
My very own writers room is taking place in January! I’m actually showrunning my own show finally! Years of hard work, the pieces are slowly coming together. Pastor Elizabeth is a show like no other! Trust me. 💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿
It’s crazy the memories you block out that get triggered by today’s current events.
People saying south London has always been a safe zone. In reality, some streets in Bermondsey were no go areas for us when we were younger.
A film we made in 2013 is finally coming to Netflix UK. Better late than Never.... Gone too Far ( a film based on my experience growing up on the North Peckham estate... only thing in estate got demolished so we couldn’t actually film it there 😂).
You see why representation matters. We can’t be 2024 and people be upset that a Black woman is playing a fictional role in a Shakespeare play that has had… check notes… RETOLD since it was written in 1590.
Do you know how many versions have been performed in film and theatre?
In 2017 I wrote a drama pilot script, poured my heart& soul into it. This 1 script got me commissions after commissions... opened doors and eyes. This week I was bombarded with good news. It’s not the end till it’s the end so don’t wanna overshare but I’m happy and God is real
This is a very precious story that will be told with the sensitivity that is required. A character led show looking back Nigeria’s history. It’s not about who’s right or wrong but how it affected a family. Can’t wait for you all to see it. It’s been a long time coming!
I was upset at the start of the year of turning 40. But now I say BRING IT ON!!!
Next decade I ain’t playing with nobody!
Wish I could scream about the projects I got in the pipeline but Imma yell in due time!
All these requests to come on shows to discuss why BAFTA’s so white. I’d rather focus on writing my diverse shows. Pls stop calling my agent. Call commissioners and get them to greenlit my shows.
I grew up in a house that played Fuji music on the weekend and at parties. There’s a new exhibition that opened today at the African centre that celebrates Fuji music.
KING WASIU AYINDE MARSHAL gave us a show. It’s open till the 28th of August. Go and check it out!
A young black boy from London is right now going head to head for an Oscar and all I hear is Gary Oldman this and Darkest hour that I’m so sorry but I’ve seen a few films about Churchill already what I’ve only seen once is a film like Get out, a performance that had me shook!
They should start releasing the list of shows rejected and the ones accepted. Then you all will see the inequality. Out of all the commissions, the one that got green-lit was a comedy about slavery? You telling me that’s the best idea presented this year out of all the writers?
In the 90s, I used to get on the bus 122 to my cousin’s house and was warned never to ever go further than Woolwich because you risk being attacked because of your colour of your skin.
In 2023, we took over the bus and created a piece of art full of love and reclaimed the space
The dream is real! It’s Alive! I’m inspired! If you don’t understand what this means, you don’t know what it’s like to be the only black face in a room. I’m weak... look at black excellence! The real

The Burnaboy hate is unnecessary and counter productive. He isn’t the problem! Please focus your energy on the issue. Do what you can and don’t watch or expect others to fight the battle the same way as you. So many ways to make a statement. Artist use their art and that’s okay!
Daniel Kaluuya is not only a screen actor this guy is a thespian! The amount of plays he’s been in, smashed and has brought me to tears in roles is crazy! No lie. His
@royalcourt
theatre credits should be frigging mentioned and celebrated. Google his theatre credits.
I’m in an awesome mood today, I’ve finished writing a Black British Rom com. No commission, I said I wanted to do it. I did it . 120 pages of love and laughter.
Only people who wanna put their money where their mouth and wanna make it this yr should holla at my agents &managers
Creatives - if there is anything to learn from the discourse over the last few days it’s this - damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Create the thing that means something to you.
Everyone will have an opinion. Some will like it, some will hate it. But at least you made it!
I’m down to write a play in a bus if anyone is up for that challenge... let’s do a moving theatre show! I’ve actually had this idea once to set gone too far on the bus from Peckham to westend! Who’s up for it?
In many African myths and folktale... mermaids, mami water, nyaminyami have all been a part of our stories. Greek mythology wasn’t the first to do. Pick up a book!
1. The Aunty from boots
2. Vanessa where are you
3. Heartbreak stories
4. That boys mum being roasted for having a rose breast tattoo
5. Hobo mandem
6. Exotic monkeys being sold
7. Anything that involves Jide
Daniel Kaluuya is not an overnight success! He has put in many years of work and if anything should be a lesson to all up and coming Actors! Start your training in theatre. It’s the best place to play, learn, make mistakes and better yet grow then get into films.
Like when you’re talking about his achievements don’t you dare miss out his theatre days because this is what contributed to him being he great actor he is... he played along side Chiwetel (another black British Oscar nominee) in a season of the Congo.
We have to celebrate our own because we don’t ever show them enough love and appreciation when they’re in England. It’s really sad and Daniel isn’t the first this has happened to. But we need to make a change. He has done something that some of us still dream of!
England is bad vibes because my plays have never travelled out of London. But a theatre in Germany is putting on one of my plays this month so yay for people who don’t limit Black stories!
Now here is why I am so pissed this morning. Despite all of Daniel’s theatre credits and even early days tv work he had to go across the pond and be a star in America first. This is typical of England. We don’t create black stars here and if we do we never keep em!
Black people all over the world are taught to believe we are minorities till you travel and discover for yourself we are a global majority and our culture and experiences travel!
Taraji P. Henson says Hollywood Execs told her she wouldn’t make money internationally because she “didn’t have fans” there: “You can't let people tell you shit”
For those of you who attacked me a few weeks ago for raising this issues... here is the Sandra herself pointing out the problem with the U.K.! What’s sad is the creative talent exist. They just choose not to hire us! Hiring white women alone doesn’t fix your diversity issue!
Sucker punch for instant was one of the best plays I’ve seen in my life, written by Roy Williams one of the best black playwrights we have. Daniel received an evening standard award for it. I watched that play countless time. Daniel trained hard lost weight for the role
This girl is not as dumb as people think she is. Her brand is is being OUTRAGEOUS.
She goes quiet for a weeks. Pops up and talks reckless, begs for money. Everyone rushes to watch her YouTube. She’s gets views. Gets paid. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.
Daniel’s Kaluuya’s cv is long, he has put in work so when the press sits and talk about Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis do not miss out a young actor who is standing head and shoulders with them and rightly so. Don’t do it! It’s offensive. Get out was last years standout film
My first home was 15 Franborough way, North Peckham estate. It shaped so much of who I am. The flat and the road doesn’t exist anymore, it got demolished when they got rid of the estate. But it’s still alive in my work and that’s one of the best things about my job.
Throughout my whole career I’ve been called a risk; work is risky, giving me a job is risky, believing in my vision is risky- so to the fearless risk takers -Thank you❤️. To the fearful, unconsciously bias gatekeepers 😝I don’t miss out on nothing, it’s you who misses out!
Netflix's new animated series follows four teenage girls who become undercover superheroes. Set in Lusaka, Zambia, Supa 4 is Netflix's first original animated series from Africa.
Suit up Supa Team 4, premieres July 20!
My carbon monoxide alarm went off,to be on the safe side I called gas emergency they came out and my boiler had been leaking. I learnt that around this time of the yr is when people have a high risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Make sure you have ur alarm, make sure it’s working
She had every right to completely flip out but as always we have to be reserved and respectful when respect is not given. Disgraceful.
The more I even remind myself she’s 70, my parent’s age group. The more angrier I get by how she’s been treated.
Can we bring back DVDS. I hate that I have Netflix, Sky, Amazon, Apple and yet when I want to watch an old film. There is a fee to rent the movie for each watch that ranges from £3.99 to £5.99.
And sometimes they just don’t have it. I want to watch Love Jones can’t find it
This is beautiful. Such a thoughtful man.
Energy is transferable and it’s lovely to see he’s thinking about his family. Making it a “we” instead of a “me” God bless him!
Ryan Gosling is rejecting roles that are too psychologically dark for the sake of what's best for his family.
“I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place. This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is
