Starting to flesh out the game's shmup elements a bit. With the new ammo system all I have to do is give the player a big pickup and boom, shmuppin time. Also to avoid the "vertizontal" issue I can prob just box the player in during the more shmup like segments

The fact that nobody in the shmup space is really building on Gun.Smoke's gameplay at all is insane to me. Capcom created a whole new fundamental framework for a shmup subgenre - reactive enemies with proper AI, "footsies" esque gameplay, very dynamic & fast paced

This game is incredible, prob my fav from CAVE. There is absolutely nothing like it ANYWHERE. Its like a very unique, seamless mix of shmup & cabal shooter. The shiki slows down + wipes away bullet and while a lesser game might have tied it to a meter, Guwange does no such thing

Guwange is a shmup STG by Cave and Atlus for arcades released in 1999, JP mobile in 2003 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Stage scrolling switches between vertical and vertical/sideways. Players command a Shikigami that can move independently and slow down bullets. Requested by @MewJAM_

I wish practice modes were on people's radars more, both gamers and gamedevs. It feels like at the same time as games get bigger & more complicated their practice tools go backwards to a point where even encounter/boss/stage select is becoming like water in a desert.

Shmup/arcade devs, please make a press kit and make it easily accessible. And some character art to boot, even if it's not in-game. You have no idea how annoying it is to make thumbnails and not have anything to work with. Making thumbnails for The Electric Underground taught me
