Amid all that we’re living in the present, I am pausing today to give thanks for the joy of this day in 2015 when I was announced as the next Bishop of Gloucester
@churchofengland
Thankyou
@GlosDioc
it is such a privilege to be here..
I’m sure it was a good event with good men but I’m very unsettled that organisers weren’t unsettled by advertising an all-white all-male panel. The ‘not seeing’ is very perturbing… and we need to
#PonderDeeply
if we are committed to shaping the future well in Gloucester…
Quite emotional being at unveiling of Millicent Fawcett statue in Parliament Square. The first woman represented here among so many men. Hopefully not the last. Statues say something about our story....

Do you think that in 2023
@TKMaxx_UK
you could change your sticky price labels? I love your shops but hate your labels which have diminished my desire to purchase things from you because they just don’t peel off! Happy Christmas when it comes😊
After Telegraph report, lots tell me Jesus called God 'Father.' Just so. Jesus Christ points to God of intimate relationship. Greater than perfect parent. Closer than close. God is not a man or a woman. God is God and perfect love .. unlike media soundbites!
Courgageous brothers & sisters on
@BBCPanorama
sharing heartbreaking experiences of racism
@churchofengland
underlining yet again our failure to act. Report from Archbishops’ Anti Racism Taskforce report must be lived not just read. And that involves me.

A privilege to meet Ronny, a Palestinian Christian, in his shop in Bethlehem: ‘And your mission not to buy from me.. just..your mission is to pray for us.’ A poignant message👇
Back to Twitter after 10 wk sabbatical: restorative & life-giving. Time wth Jesus’ encounters in Gospels (& time in Galilee) & time with some people & places of encounter in my life incl. ; friends; family. Back

you can be better than this. Even tho Christmas & birth of Jesus Christ points to his death (Good Friday) & resurrection (Easter) .. it is STILL Christmas (lasts 12 days) Why are you already displaying EasterEggs?

Today I spoke to a couple in their 80s who are self-isolating. Aware that TV & media-messaging is raising anxiety, they decided to put on some favourite music and then gently danced together. Beautiful ... and so easy

in silent prayer at 11am. Giving thanks for the gift of those who arrived & subsequent generations; celebrating diversity; lamenting racism & repenting of failures
@GlosDioc
@churchofengland
Sad to see. Church has much to learn about being Body of Christ together. Chaplains have much to teach us about connecting with diversity of people in everyday life - places of pain & joy - & ‘being’ Christ’s hope and love. Thankyou. More in more places please..
I’m still trying to process this, even though it’s just what I already knew.
I’m a chaplain. I love the Church. I like it too, maybe too much. The Sundays I spend covering in parish churches are so precious to me. My work points people towards God’s church.
And why no possibility for people to identify as ‘volunteer’? What are we saying about what is counted? Thankyou to all unpaid volunteers across communities, charities & organisations, including
@GlosDioc
@churchofengland
(incl all unpaid clergy) 👏👏👏
A privilege to preside at Advent service to celebrate 100 years of ministry among deaf community & hard of hearing people in

was going to be our new Bishop 🎉 Where has the time gone!? We give thanks for our wonderful Bishop!
Today

we remember Joseph of Nazareth. When life was turned upside down & the unexpected happened, the angel of God said ‘ do not be afraid.’ and Jospeh walked on, providing faithful care, support & love. Much to learn from him ...

Early Christmas morning. The streets of Gloucester are quiet & the lights are bright. Yet behind closed doors will be loneliness, pain & anxiety as well as laughter & joy. And the message of Christmas is of God with us. The darkness will not overcome the light. Happy Christmas!
Alleluia Christ is risen. And amid the darkness and suffering of the world we hold fast to resurrection hope. The light is stronger than the darkness. Love is more powerful than hate.
@GlosCathedral
@GlosDioc

‘Where there is light’
@GlosCathedral
@GlosDioc
is aaamazing. Submerge yourself in hundreds of individual lights connected to each other, creating something mysterious & beautiful, surrounded by voices of refugees & asylum seekers telling their stories. Bring yours.. & connect..

Brexit isn’t all about political decision. It’s also about how we want to live relationship in communities, country & world. Physical & emotional gap is growing on pavement outside Westminster. Conflict is normal but how we live it is choice. We are all part of this.

Today, after many hours of tributes to our late Queen
