Buckley put the Buchanan question to rest. He was beyond the pale. There was no defense for what he said. I shudder to think what the reaction would be if that situation were to play out now.

I'll give Mike Gallagher a lot of credit here. He strongly believes in the institution and the process and is willing to take a tough vote to defend that. Good for him. If only Congress had more like him.
