I really will miss this place if it goes. Election admin is a small field that and most ppl (understandably) don’t understand it’s nuances and struggles. For all it’s flaws, the bird app has allowed me to connect with other election officials and build a community.

Who gets holidays off? It's not retail or restaurant workers (or other low wage workers). Public transportation runs on reduced schedules on holidays. Schools and daycares close making parents have to find alternate arrangements.

Folks, I can’t. MLW are the initials of the City if Madison clerk. Absentee ballots in WI are required to have the initials of the clerk when being issued. The Trump campaign was objecting to ballots that DIDN’T have the MLW initials.

In WI, state law says that order of the parties on a primary ballot is determined by the winner of the contest at the top of the ballot in the previous general election. Governor was at the top of the ballot in 2022. Tony Evers won. That means the Democratic party is listed 1st.

Because all y'all are talking about this, there were 296,108 ballots cast in 2018 in Dane County. As of about a week ago, there were 376,531 registered voters. 85% of this year's number of registered voters would be 320,051 ballots cast so about 24k more ballots cast than 2018.

TURNOUT UPDATE: Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell said he is seeing steady to high turnout at polling locations. At 11 a.m., Madison had counted 47,551 ballots, which is approximately 27% of registered voters. As such, Dane County is projecting roughly an 85% voter turnout.

To sum up this thread, Cochise County didn’t certify their election results because some douse from Maricopa said the tabulators aren’t certified and 2 county supervisors don’t think the state elections director has enough “expertise” in this area to confirm they were certified.

Supervisors vote 2-1 to delay certifying the election until 10 a.m. Nov. 28 and until someone with "expertise" in this area can confirm their tabulators were properly certified. State elections director's word on this wasn't good enough for Crosby + Judd.
