"Zuko only beat Azula because Azula was not sane" is a weak and lazy claim. By the end of the series zuko was clearly better firebender than azula, he stood his ground and countered everything azula threw at him. Not to mention he learned firebending from dragons too.

Aang and Korra’s villains would have produced the same outcome: Aang would’ve made them look and sound foolish. Aang would’ve challenged them all on a philosophical level and i doubt they would’ve been able to logically answer his counter arguments without being exposed.

Do Aang fans realize you’re NOT supposed to stay in the Avatar State for prolonged periods? A realized avatar only uses it for a temporary power boosts or extremely demanding situations. Aang only stayed in it because he was constantly forced into it.
