TIL I learned in France you can't pay for, and board, a delayed train bc you will be fined for ticket fraud. You have to have bought the ticket before the *planned* departure time. Only legal option here: let the train run, take the next one later 🧐

The best politicians lead by example. These here from @miljopartiet travel Europe in a sustainable way and have the best of times doing so. It was those guys who conceived, initiated, and funded, the train I enjoy working on so much. In a way I owe them my job- and so much more.

The seating in this carriage, for some obscure reason, comes in a 3+1 layout. And ist absolutely bonkers! Ok the reason is not that obscure these are declassified 1st class carriages which by design still have an asymmetrical corridor for the original 2+1 layout.

Ich bin im letzten Jahr 7(?) Typen Schlafwagen gefahren. Single und Double, Standard und Deluxe. Die neuen Kabinen sind WOW 🤩. So geräumig so viel Platz dass man selbst zu 2. nicht Engtanzen muss um etwas zu verräumen. Und das ist die niedrigere von 2 Kategorien!

To whom it may concern: Eisenbahn-Neubaustrecken "zerschneiden" eben nicht die Landschaft. Sie verlaufen allermeistens komplett im Tunnel (Fulda-Gerstungen) oder sind mit Autobahnen gebündelt. (Hannover-Hamburg, Mannheim-Frankfurt, Ulm-Augsburg etc etc)

Der #SJ #EuroNight fährt auch den den Winter über von #Stockholm nach #Berlin . Die probeweise Verlängerung über Hamburg hinaus endet nicht, wie geplant, am 1. Oktober, sondern wird dauerhaft fortgeführt. Und wann fährst du mit mir nach 🇸🇪? ☺️

Und noch mehr News aus der Nachtzugnische: Die trenitalia bestellt bei #skoda und Firema neue Schlaf-und Liegewagen für ihre Nacht- Intercity (ICN) Genug, um ihre komplette Flotte auszutauschen. 70 fest bestellt, 300 weitere optional.

Zug 40 min hinter Plan, housekeeping besteht darauf 1h vor PLAN(!)-Ankunft Bettzeug einzusammeln, Laken Kissen und Decke. Bin da durch den Job neurotisch, jede 10 min Schlaf sind mir heilig heute hätte ich locker noch 1h schlafen können.

In Berlin, NIMBYS campaigned so hard for a tunnel through their neighbourhood as the noise from a new rail line would be unbearable. The rail line is now being built wit 6 m high noise barriers. fafo. 🥲

Der Geringe Wert einer Radfahrerin. "Aus noch ungeklärter Ursache kam es zu dem tragischen Unfall." NO SHIT! Der Mann hat *im Gegenverkehr* überholt und dabei eine Frau umgebracht. Das ist weder tragisch noch Unfall und die Ursache steht im Text!

Das ist ein Klischee und ein Missverständnis. „Echte“ Nachtzüge stehen nicht unproduktiv rum, sie werden tagsüber gewartet gereinigt und aufgebettet. Nach 14+h Lastlauf, 4h Reinigung ist es sinnvoll und hilfreich, noch ein paar Stunden Puffer zu haben.

Die Business Class im Zug sieht schon großartig aus! Vorteil: Lässt sich sowohl tagsüber (1. Klasse) als auch über Nacht (als Schlafwagen) vermarkten. Damit evtl Lösung für aktuelle Problematik: Tagsüber unproduktiver Stillstand der Nachtzug/nightjet-Einheiten wäre vorbei.

Berlin *hat*zwar das größte Straßenbahnnetz Deutschlands... hatte aber mit 635(!) km Strecken(!)Länge das größte der Welt- noch vor L.A. Heute ist nur weniger als ein Drittel übrig. Nicht Krieg, nicht Teilung haben die größte Zerstörung bewirkt. Sondern das Auto. Gewusst?

Das zeigt sich schon an der wagenanschrift: WLA bedeutet alle Abteile sind der 1. Klasse zugeordnet, es gibt keine „Standard“ Abteile mehr, nur noch Deluxe. Alle Abteile haben private en-suite Waschraum WC und - krude!- Duschmöglichkeit. Dazu gleich mehr.

Erstmal das positive. Minicabins hebe ich mir noch auf. Die fahre ich (hoffentlich) in 3 Tagen. Alle gehen steil drauf - zu recht! - aber ich glaube die eingestochen Revolution liegt woanders. Im Schlafwagen!

Heute wurde ein tschechischer Kollege durch Unachtsamkeit eines LKW-Fahrers getötet. Der Schwertransporter blieb auf dem BÜ stehen, der junge Lokführer überlebte den Aufprall nicht. Mitgefühl und Kraft für alle Hinterbliebenen, Betroffenen und Kolleg:innen. 🖤
