Andy Stanley is right.
In a post-Christian world that does not accept the authority of the Bible, starting a conversation with your unchurched friends or family with “the Bible says” is not adequate.
Tell them how Jesus made your life better first, then discuss the Bible.
Apologizing doesn't always mean you're wrong and the other person is right. It means you value your relationship more than your ego.

I was sexually abused by an uncle for 6 years as a kid.
I lived in fear and grew up feeling abandoned and worthless.
Following Jesus at 18 gave me hope, purpose, made my life better and and made me batter at life.
If God can turn my life around, he can turns yours around too.

Hey Church social media peeps!
Don’t use Mondays to tell people what they missed yesterday, use Monday to tell people how they can stay connected during the week!
People don’t wake up Mondays wondering how church was … they’re wondering how they will get through the week.
Hey Church Leaders!
Being "relevant" isn't about moving lights, the latest music, drone shots in your countdown video, or skinny jeans.
You're relevant when you meet the needs of the people in your community.
Find out what people need, then meet that need.
Be relevant.
This moment was my HIGHLIGHT of 2019 ... getting to baptize my youngest daughter Jordyn in the Jordan River.
Today, Jordy turns 16 in quarantine. Please take a moment to send her some love so I can pass it on to her.

Church attendance is not decreasing ... it's decentralizing.
People connect with Church content on YouTube, live-streaming, podcast, social media, apps and on-demand. The goal should be to continue to find ways to build community around that content.
Being in ministry is hard.
I doubt “regular” people fully understand what church staff and pastors carry … especially on a Sunday.
There’s a good chance they need your support and prayers more than your opinion and demands.
Things Jesus DIDN’T say his followers would be known for:
• Sarcasm
• How they vote
• Condescension
• Their job title
• Their thoughts on vaccines
• Where they live
• Their church attendance
Things he said they WOULD be known for:
• The way they love.

is worth the price of the book alone.
I’ve said it before … I’ll say it again:
Iron can’t sharpen iron inside an echo chamber.
What if Church lockdowns were divine intervention ...
to make the Church rethink the way we do church, connect with people, and make a difference in the community?
Jesus didn’t say “Stay in your church building and ask people to come to you once a week and preach the gospel from there …”
He said GO into the world where the people are—and in the modern world, where people are is YouTube.

1. Stop complaining and appreciate how lucky you are every day
2. Embrace loneliness and reinvent yourself in the process
3. Say goodbye to the people that don’t bring positive energy into your life
4. Commit to the goals you set and never look back
Things Jesus DIDN’T say his followers would be known for:
Their opinions
Who they vote for
The car they drive
Their job title
Their social media following
Where they live
Their church attendance
The music they listen to.
Things he said we WOULD be known for: The way we love.
Things Christ Jesus DIDN’T say his followers would be known for:
Their opinions
How they vote
The car they drive
Their job title
Their thoughts on vaccines
Where they live
Their church attendance
Their nationality.
Things he said they WOULD be known for:
The way they love.
2000 years ago,
the followers of Jesus
were huddled behind closed doors,
anxious and afraid about the future.
Sound familiar?
An empty tomb turned their fear into faith.
It should do the same for us.

An observation:
Too often Christians think that loving God is expressed through church attendance and how much we study the Bible ...
but our love for God is actually expressed through loving and serving people, and bringing peace to their chaos.
One part of the Bible that always confused me was how the Israelites kept asking Moses to take them back to their old life in Egypt.
I mean ... who would ever want to go backward when God was making a new way forward??
Then I observed the Church coming out of COVID.
Did you know that the FIRST thing defined as "HOLY" in the Bible is not God ...
not a church or altar ...
not the scripture ... but REST?
Yet we often define ourselves by how busy we are—not how rested we are.
This month, the phrase “how to pray” has been searched 20,000 times on
@YouTube
… but not one of the first 5 results are by a church or a pastor.
People are NOT searching for answers in church, they’re searching on YouTube.
The apostle Paul used the technology of his day (letter writing) to connect people with God and grow the Church.
I’m glad that during this health crisis, churches can use the technology of our day (live online streaming) to do the same thing.
“When sinful, broken, hurting people are pleasantly surprised at how accepting we are, and religious people are outraged at how at how accepting we are, there is a good chance we’re starting to live like Jesus.” —

Things to quit:
1. Trying to please everyone
2. Fearing change
3. Living in the past
4. Overthinking
5. Being afraid to be different
6. Sacrificing your happiness for others
7. Thinking you're not good enough
8. Thinking you have no purpose

Hey Pastors.
Here’s an observation:
If your Instagram grid is mostly photos of YOU on stage, or videos of you preaching … you may want to reassess your motives.
Convince me I’m wrong.
Hey Church leaders! Stop being Blockbuster in a Netflix world!
People access your content online and that's okay! Be like Paul and leverage the technology of the day to reach people far from God.
Things Jesus DIDN’T say his followers would be known for:
• Their theology degree
• How many Bible verses they quote
• People groups they're against
• Their church attendance
Things he said they WOULD be known for:
• The way they love.
Before you talk, listen.
Before you react, think.
Before you criticize, wait.
Before you pray, forgive.
Before you quit, try.
