I can’t describe how amazing this was to watch unfold today, completely child led with no input from adults but the risk assessing, thought, talk, not to mention maths that took place, check out the symmetry on it was incredible! I could never plan for opportunities like this.
Upcycled a home corner kitchen I found in the shed...just needs a bit of touching up and the knobs reattaching but don’t think it’s too bad an effort...!
One cable reel in use...I’ve been wanting to make The Can Caravan for ages so it was the perfect excuse. Such an important book for those mirrors and windows and a lovely story too 💕
Our writing area has been really popular with lots of children practising their letter formation and name writing. I love how motivated they are!💕

Reflecting our curriculum in our environment, using recycled materials in the classroom..tins, jars, soap dispensers and gu pudding pots, with Pringle tube lids.
Not forgetting the cable reels and pallets too!
One of my favourite things to do in Nursery is to turn their play into stories. I write down what they say, adding in their settings to make a story, this is then added to the book and kept in the classroom. They are so lovely to read back together.

A Christmas cafe in reception with treats almost good enough to eat! They aren’t real lindor chocolates just salt dough, but I did have to eat a few to get the wrappers!
Our bedtime story bag is ready to go home this week, no pressure to keep a diary or take photos just curl up with some great books and enjoy a hot chocolate. Thank you
@MacmillanKidsUK
for two great additions to the bag 💕💕

The strangest of Sunday night feelings knowing I won’t be going back here tomorrow. Will I remember to drive the right way to work...probably...am I feeling a little nervous and very excited...definitely!

I reflected on this activity for Early Years Educator, see link below. It was such a good opportunity to think about the why behind it and the impact it had. It’s not just about engaging, attractive set ups!
Developing provision on a budget isn’t always easy but a bit of paint on some peg dolls and free samples of tiles and bits of fabric have definitely helped to enhance it!

Tomorrow the avengers make their way to Reception, I made them for a boy in Nursery who told me there was nothing for him in there, they’ve since been played with daily and added to over the year...he asked if he could take them to Reception just in case!

Completely stunning book The Wild, from
@yuvalzommer
taking pride of place. If you’re looking for a book about caring for our world and using our voice this is it...💚
So half term nearly done, didn’t write my reports but I did make a flamingo for our next story in Nursery, consumed a lot of calories and the best bit...picking my son up every day from school. 🥰 Good to remind myself I’m more than just a teacher!
Creating some interest in books and showing that we value their voice with a book voting station for story time. Couldn’t think of two better books to start it off either!

Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating. 💕
Here’s a little set up I’ve done in my class, it’s really important to me that they feel represented and a sense of belonging 💕💕

Another Diwali set up for Reception. The story Binny’s Diwali is great for explaining how Diwali is celebrated at home, using Binny’s own voice. 🪔

Had to have a Kindness Jar in the new classroom..each kind moment goes in it...and two lovely books to go with! No Home for a Ghost is perfect for teaching kindness and empathy 💕💕
Got to do what I love best yesterday and set up some enhancements for next week...first up an autumn themed set up linked to Room on the Broom, looking at how many characters are on and off the broom 🍁🍂🍁

New playdough area, using autumn found treasures and some natural materials to develop our pincy grip and fine motor skills. It’s not all about looking pretty.

I’ve created a feelings area in the classroom for Summer 2. It’s a place to express how we are feeling, read books on how to manage feelings, or do some mindful colouring. There’s also a worry monster, some calming exercises, some sensory toys and some positive affirmation cards.
My class have been loving the one more one less currant bun cafe today...even if they do think it needs doughnuts and cookies in it. I can definitely see this developing as the days and weeks go on!💕

Polonius the Pit Pony is an absolute gem of a story if you want a story all about kindness and never giving up. The characters were a joy to make, thank you

Thank you
@BoothroydAcad
for the memories, gifts and kind words. It’s a sad end of an era but I’m looking forward to pastures new.
Now I’m off to eat some biscuits and have a snowball whilst tanning and doing my lashes...colleagues, friends and parents you know me too well!💕💕
Hands down one of THE best books. If you want a book that promotes body positivity and celebrates our differences in all their glory then this is the book for you. Everyone is represented here. There is so much to see on every page, I find something new each time I read it.
I love this book for creating those all important mirrors and windows...and celebrate their 5th birthday I made some peg dolls for my new classroom. They have generated some all important discussions today, needed to create those kind, empathetic children and adults 💕
The start of Christmas at school with a new book and some advent envelopes, each with a treat and a note encouraging them to carry out a random kind act. We’re looking for kind acts in the classroom and together as a class choose who should get the envelope at the end of the day.
After seeing two rainbows this week my class are obsessed! Had to get this book out, love it for the beautiful illustrations, can’t wait to read it next week 🌈

We’ve been looking at positive affirmations in Nursery this week and describing ourselves in positive terms before moving to our new classes next week, so sad to see them go but they are so ready!🥰

“Can Bears Ski?” Is one of my favourites and we’ve been reading it in Reception over the last two weeks and produced some amazing work. So proud of everyone involved!💕
The flower shop is open! All put together by my class, with a little guidance...but they decided and made everything, including the signs and flowers. I had to buy roses as one child told me she loved them but had never seen any close up 💕💕
One of our key texts is Bodies are Cool. I’ve made some peg dolls celebrating our bodies in all different shapes, sizes and skin tones. Our key texts will have their own small world and be displayed in our soon to be completed book nooks, this is just the beginning, more to come!
Thank you
@FlyingEyeBooks
I love Mino and her bus stop! This is the cutest book about friendships and the power of the journey over the destination 💕🌸💕
Love working in a school where family is allowed to be put first and as someone who has benefitted from many of the aspects on here I will always be eternally grateful to

The bedtime story bags are all set up and ready to be sent out to KS1 and EYs this week! ✨ Encouraging a love of reading and shared experiences of reading with loved ones 📚 (and you can have a nice hot chocolate with it too ☕️) Inspired by

I love this book from
@OwletPress
full of Autumn colours and nature (with a bit of tech thrown in too!). It’s a beautiful story about lasting friendship. It’s the perfect addition to my classroom 💕💕
We introduced our five frame register today and it was very popular! Having their own photos made it very relatable and everyone kept returning throughout the session.

I tend to keep my display boards simple, mainly pictures/ quotes in frames. Saves on mounting/laminating and less to change and then do “topic” based ones in large frames where they can be moved around the room and at the child’s height.
We’re looking at what friendship is using one of my favourites “Omar, the Bees and Me” by
@OwletPress
and the
@Usborne
book “All About Friends.” Both offer fantastic representation, and will provide mirrors and windows for my class.💕💕
