In February, I took in a very old cat. Ancient, probably. Today was her last day. She had a month of good food, care, companionship, and love. I promised myself that I wouldn’t get attached. My already grieving heart is held together with stitches, and another one just broke.

@ThanatosArchive I love these. Inspired by them, I made some sailor’s protection dollies some years back. The idea being, you take them on your voyages and when your seafaring days are over, you give them a little burial by the coast.

An odd little story for #FolkloreThursday I’ve always fed corvids. I love them. One day, I took ill quite far from home. Had to ring a family member to come and pick me up. While I waited, a jackdaw came and sat beside me. It sat with me until help arrived, quite unafraid.

I had to buy this when I saw it. It was less than a fiver. Partly wrecked and with the boards completely detached. Water damaged, unfortunately. Sadly, I will never have the funds to restore it but I will certainly enjoy it.

A bit of an update on the Lowry I’m painting for a friend. It’s really coming to life now that the final layers are going in. I’m enjoying painting the boats. Lowry uses Ivory Black to great effect.

@KatyMunro1 @NatMigraineCtr That migraine is a whole body experience, not just head pain. For me it means pain, nausea, fatigue, brain fog and poor balance. There are changes to my speech (slurring, difficulty in being words to mind) and vision (blurred eyesight, black floaters, sparks, sometimes aura).

@Alston_UNSR Further, the govt class being a self-employed sole-trader as being ‘in employment’. If you are disabled and cannot find work and you are denied social security, the DWP advise you to ‘go self-employed’. You won’t earn a living but you will not appear on their unemployment stats.

I’m really not one for selfies, but this is a crelfie. I would have loved to have held on to Dusty for a bit longer, but we’d begun to bond and that wasn’t going to help him. He’s a crow not a human, and crows should fly over fields and trees and church spires. He’ll do that now

@adamfare1996 I used to hate the ‘networking’ sessions that course providers made delegates do before the courses commenced. I always ended up on my own, sipping a coffee, looking out of the window while everyone else chatted and exchanged cards. I hated it so much that sometimes I just left.

Dropped my inhaler under the bed and, looking for it, fell down the rabbit hole. A locked box containing old sketchbooks brought me to tears. My beloved grandad used to sit patiently for me while I learned to draw. I dressed him up with all manner of costumes and props.

He was an artist and guardsman. On 11th Nov 2014, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He discharged himself from hospital and came home to die. He told me to get some canvases and paint, paint, paint till I found my own style. It was the best advice you ever gave me, Dad.

Victor died at 13.28. He slipped away very peacefully and with Kent and I holding his little head and paws. Here he is a few years ago enjoying a knitted catnip mouse. I don’t know what the first part of his life was like but the last five years were very good indeed.
