WELCOME TO FORMA
We're working with tech-forward nations around the world to build Solana Economic Zones
Our first one launches this August in Argentina
You really need to see this
i honestly think the biggest hack in life is finding a partner who’s default happy, positive and optimistic. if that’s the base you start with you’re in a very good position to have a happy life
@visakanv
what men think women want, and what women actually want are often completely different things. most women value a caring attitude & responsible personality. they often put that above things guys think are important like having a luxury car or a perfect body
real talk, I’m extremely unsettled by the fact that my life will end in a relatively short period of time (70ish years?). i don’t think that’s nearly long enough, and the vast nothingness that awaits scares the fuck out of me. how do you come to peace with this
if you're wondering why the UK is so poor look at their Shark Tank
america 🇺🇸
founder: i need a million to expand our organic dog treats globally
mark cuban: say less
UK 🇬🇧
founder: i solved cancer
random investor no one has heard of:
oy sorry mate don't see the opportunity
someone who says “we’ll get through this” when adversity comes your way. someone who works to better themselves. who genuinely sees the good in you and pushes you to be the best version of youself. someone who smiles a lot. someone you catch yourself smiling a lot around
@elonmusk
@Spooks
make it easier for people to engage, it’s discouraging for people new to twitter to get 0-2 likes per post. maybe double tap to like tweet like IG?
@jsparkblog
@levelsio
Thank you for sharing this friend. How has your perspective on death changed as a result of being surrounded by it so frequently? Has your thinking and feeling on the matter evolved since you started?
This is why founders were using SVB in case y'all were wondering..
regular big banks have no idea how tech startups work. for us they wanted 2 years of profit and loss statements for a $5k credit card.... we had 100x that in the corporate checkings account but they didn't care
@itslynxie
@visakanv
Yeah that sounds right. Also "nice guys" often aren't really nice. Doing something for someone with the sole expectation that it'll make them want you isn't the same as being truly kind and generous, which ARE attractive traits
@Slatzism
taking pride in your work no matter how others may judge it, is always honorable
people like her are how society gets better. you treat people with kindness, greet them & make them feel seen. that goodness multiples. it seems small but that's the thing, the small stuff matters
My dad came to Canada as a refugee. $500 in his pocket. Barely spoke English
He worked hard & built a small business to support us
It's been an uphill battle. I still help him read letters
It's why we're working so fucking hard at Fluent
We're removing the language barrier.
Canada is having it’s moment.
There’s a stereotype that Canadian startups aim low and sell too soon.
That is no longer true.
With:
• better funding
• world class talent
• ambitious founders staying here
Canadians are going after the world.
Watch this space! 🇨🇦
just raised an $81m dollar friends and family pre-seed.
looking to make 48 new hires this month as we figure out our product roadmap and business models.

today i learnt that scotiabank arena, an event center in toronto that can hold 20,000 people, is cooled by near freezing deep lake water from the close-by lake ontario
this system reduce energy needs by 70% compared to traditional AC!
canadian engineering is so based 🍁
Just closed the largest deal of my life. It started with a cold LinkedIn message.
People that say cold outreach doesn't work have never written a good cold message. Don't listen to them!
Understand that Vancouver is becoming a city for the old, by the old
Young people who want to move out of parents home? fuck off
Young families who need daycare because both parents have to work to pay rent? fuck off
This is a city of grumpy retirees. We need to fight back
Residents mounted campaign against allowing 8 more kids to play in their neighbourhood for ~45 hrs/week
Homeowners complained re: parking, noise of “children playing” & threatened to sue the City if they approved a daycare
City hall rejected the daycare
duolingo is about to go public and im so fucking happy for the founders, employees, & investors. They are true pioneers and deserve every ounce of success and i truly believe they will continue to kill it
at the same time the opportunity for fluent has never been higher
My three month old son came up to me this morning and said
"Dad too many EdTech startups are making iterative improvements to a broken education system designed to output factory workers. We need startups that completely rethink how to teach people"
I've never been so proud 😭
finding a place to rent in Vancouver is a humiliating experience. most of the housing is either: nasty, small, or insanely expensive
most ghost you. competing w dozens of folks. absolutely insane. if we don't do something dramatic about the housing shortage this city is fucked
@KenSimCity
Ken why do we have to wait for the fed? We live in cities, you run a city, you have like a dozen options to increase housing supply without any federal involvement. Is it too much to ask for a sense of urgency here?
Current life goals:
- Lose fat, gain muscle
- Help parents retire comfortably
- Make Fluent a household brand by 2025
- Help Canada become a global startup hub
huberman said you can't drink coffee until 90 minutes after rising and you listened. you need another man to tell you when you can have your morning coffee? you have no agency dawg. you'll never make it. hahahaha 🫵
@buccocapital
lots of demand & not enough supply is the TLDR
dumb zoning laws, development charges, long permitting process, and high labour/material cost making it much more costly to build new supply as well
hey guys - i have a problem. i love reading but I forget most of what i read soon after. i haven’t found a way to take notes that doesn’t feel clunky yet.
how do y’all do it? have a system you can tell me about?
@tunient
@Laserpig_Utopia
This is so fascinating to me. Understanding the human to animal kingdom relations are key for us to realize what our relationship might look like with a higher intelligent being
@iamkennethchan
@PeterMeiszner
can we do something about this? World class cities don't close their beaches at 10pm on a summer evening. This has consistently been the lamest thing the city does
Fluent V1 is out now!!
We've made learning new languages addicting. Turn Fluent on and make real progress every day.
No new study habits; you learn while you live your life.
We're so fucking excited for you to try it!
I'd love to have your support! ❤️
@LeoPhosphorous
@ElegantiaeArbit
"With the right attitude, war is a joyous adventure."
Watching your brother's head get blown into a thousand fragments of flesh and blood by an enemy sniper sounds incredibly joyful bro
@SeanFraserMP
let me cut every expense I have and live like a jesuit monk to save an extra 40k. wait oops that 600sqft one bed I needed went up 60k this year. guess i'll keep saving...
im a proud vancouverite. this city is gorgeous and filed with interesting people from all walks of life. im totally uninterested in pessimism about this place, our problems are not unsolvable and what we have is worth fighting for
Shopify, undoubtly.
Customer support gave my 1/2 hour of their time to answer international tax servicing questions BEFORE I was even a paying customer. All while having an extremely pleasant conversation (tax convos are almost never pleasant)
I ♥️ shopify.

@tobi
i love startups
you get to have an opinion about how the future should look like. if the market agrees, you literally get to change how we all live/work
that's fucking awesome. highly highly recommend starting or working at one at least once in your life
@JesseHercules
Agree completely. Our parents hugely influence our personalities. I have my dads realism, risk-tolerance, and anxiety, I have my mums optimism and cheerfulness. I notice all of their good and bad traits mirrored to some extent in me
these guys used to run the entire world. their motto was "the sun never sets on Great Britain". they were so confident in their skill that they officially called themselves great and made all their subjects do the same. oh how the world turns
What I love about Montreal is that it isn't a tech town.
We have great startups & tech co's here but it's not the focal point of the city - there's variety.
You get inspiration from different points of view: coffee roasters, mural artists, aviation engineers, film directors
when my last startup was failing i got a used scooter & did uber eats to keep my head above water
that's what a founder is
it's not the cover of forbes. it's not sexy
it's doing whatever it takes. and if that's not good enough there's no one to blame
it's all on you amigo
@AdamNeumannsCoS
oh that's an Eastern European delicacy. it's a form of sponge cake. wouldn't mind grabbing it from you if you don't think you'll eat it
If you come work with us at Fluent, you're part of the team, forever.
When it's your time, we'll personally help you build out your own startup when you leave.
Investor intros, org knowledge, our network - they're all open to you.
I'm a son of immigrants
My father struggled his whole life with English. My mother is an educator on a very modest salary
Both went through hard days to give me a better future
Both just invested in Fluent
This is personal for me
We're going to remove the language barrier
