Day 1 of learning to code and becoming a web developer!
Follow me on my journey as I, an art historian who knows nothing about computers, try to make sense of all that code👩🏻💻 shoutout to
@Codecademy
& wish me luck 🍀
I just had the most embarrassing interview 🥴 They told me it was just a get-to-know-you interview, so you can imagine the shock on my face when the head of the IT department showed up and started asking me technical questions out of the blue. Literally just bombarding me with
My coding duckie and I have some news to share with y’all!
I GOT THE JOB!!! WOOOOOOOO 👏🏼💃🏻🪩🤩🎉🎊😍🥳👩🏻💻💥✨🥂🍾
My first real job as a programmer! I can’t believe I did it! I actually did it! 💥💥💥💥💥
And thank YOU all for sticking with me on this journey ❤️
Day 1 of learning to code and becoming a web developer!
Follow me on my journey as I, an art historian who knows nothing about computers, try to make sense of all that code👩🏻💻 shoutout to

Today is my 1 year anniversary since I started coding guys 🤩✨🥳 my first tech tweet, my first hello world 👋🏼
Best decision I made in a long time. And thanks for the unending support guys ❤️ excited for the next 365
Day 132 of learning to code:
Started learning about recursion… I don’t think my brain has had to work this hard in a looong time 🤯🤯🤯 math just wasn’t mathing but I eventually got it 🥵How do some ppl just know this stuff? Crazy
Day 154 of learning to code:
I DID IT!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I still have to take the final exams to get the certificate, but I got through all the lessons! Yay me! Thanks for all the support, guys! 🥰
No coding for the next 8 days, as I am finally on vacation ☀️🌴🐳 I won’t post as often now - I’d like to really just disconnect and not think about ANYTHING for once 😌 Take care, y’all & greetings from Portugal 👋🏼
Day 116 of learning to code:
Studied swapping nodes and traversing linked lists 😮💨 also tried to solve that popular tech interview question to reverse a singly-linked list 🤔 I almost had it, missed 1 thingy, but not too bad for my first try 🤷🏻♀️
Day 134 of learning to code:
I’M BACK, Y’ALL! 🫶🏻✨Back to my little desk with my little computer, my little iced coffee, and my little vacay tan, but also with my big ambition to become a good coder!👩🏻💻Looked into Firebase today & kept working on my portfolio website. How u doing?
Dear devs, would you say it's possible/doable for a Frontend dev to create a fully-functioning e-shop/e-commerce website, or is the backend knowledge essential?
Day 50 of learning to code:
50, GUYS!!! 50!! 🤩💃🚀 Super proud of myself for sticking with it, but I also know that success is yet to come, so gotta do at least another 50 days! Hope y'all stick with me on my journey! 🫶 also, JS testing is like HARD 🥲
Day 146 of learning to code:
Only managed to work on some DSA lessons - learnt about graph search algorithms. Neat stuff 🤔 btw yes, hand-written notes really work for me, I’m not just writing shit down for show 😅 How’s your Wednesday? ✨
Just had my first-ever tech interview for a junior FE role! 👩🏻💻
I only had 2 days to prepare but it was SO exciting & I think I did pretty well - it wasn’t flawless but I think I got like 95% of the questions right 🙏🏼🤩🙏🏼 Let’s hope they can overlook that other 5%
Day 141 of learning to code:
Drove home to my parents’ yesterday and this is my office set up for today ✨😍 studied quicksort but I didn’t quite get the JS code for it so will have to revisit that 🙃 Happy Monday, y’all!
Day 61 of learning to code:
I'm 50% through!!! 🤩🚀💃🎉
Hoping to be done with the whole course in about 2 months so I can start looking for them sweet dev jobs 😍
Today I studied HTTP requests and APIs & lemme just tell u that this shit is fascinating!
Day 100 of learning to code:
And so the day has come ☺️☀️ used this mug for my coffee, cuz clearly I’m a tech genius by now 😎 Anyway, thank u all for sticking around! ❤️ there’s still a long way to go, so I’ll just keep counting. See you tomorrow! Same time, same place ✌🏼
Be real with me devs, did getting a nice chair actually improve you postures and got rid of your back pain? Cuz I got a super fancy Autonomous chair and I still sit on it like a little goblin 🍤
Day 55 of learning to code:
I started working on the async stuff and 😖😖
but I also spent 4 hours (FOUR) at the hairdresser, as I decided to chop off my (years-old) waist-length hair & change the color 💇🏻♀️ loving it!
Day 96 of learning to code:
I’M BACK AT IT, Y’ALL! 👩🏻💻🚀
The break was nice, I feel like my brain actually had time to process all the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the months 🧠 BUT, I was itching to get back to it! Today, I studied React Router - I’ve missed React 🤍
Just had my first tech-related interview for a web designer position. It lasted a full 5 minutes and the guy just asked me why I applied for the job 😅 How was your first ever tech job interview?
Day 113 of learning to code:
Ooff so I started learning about data structures today 😮💨 it’s not too hard so far but it took a few re-reads. Had no idea that an array is like a primitive data structure, but makes sense! 🤔🤓 cool stuff
Day 125 of learning to code:
Hope y’all had a good weekend! On this fine Monday, I learned about trees🌲🌲🌲also I practically live off of watermelon cuz these temperatures are melting my skin off 🥵🫠what’s ur favorite fruit?
Day 103 of learning to code:
This is me 95% of the time while coding - just staring in the void, trying to figure out JavaScript 🧠👀🐥
Got through the React-Redux library lesson today. Will finally work on Redux toolkit tomorrow ✌🏼 Plans for the weekend??
Day 67 of learning to code:
Finished the lessons on HTTP requests and fetch! Also did my first
@frontendmentor
challenge while watching a Juventus match with my bf - all back to normal 🥰
Do you watch soccer?
Day 90 of learning to code:
I was so pumped for the wedding only to crash at 10pm with a MASSIVE migraine & barely making it back to the room 😭😭 well, at least I got my coding done in the morning ✅
so my bf said I had to approach this job search thing more 'like a man', so he sent out around 100 applications for me. Sure enough, got a bunch of responses the next day & more keep coming👀
Day 164 of learning to code:
I wrote so many lines of CSS today that my brain melted and my hair fell out, I’m bald now 🫠🫠 but the portfolio is looking good 😏 How’s your day?
Day 115 of learning to code:
Was much more productive today! Started off strong with my basic bitch avocado toast and coffee 💪🏼I studied linked lists and … good lord 😭😭 how was ur day?
Am I the only one who has to code like this bc their hands completely freeze off in the winter? 🥶🥶 I tried gloves but I really don’t like typing with them on
Day 175 of learning to code:
Working on the rebrand of a company - remaking their website from scratch & moving it from WP to Next (some might find this controversial) 🤔 good thing I have my little ghost friend 👻
Day 58 of learning to code:
I studied promises all morning but had an important event in the evening - the reason why I’ve been so busy lately - an exhibition opening! 🎨
It took a lot out of me to finish all these artworks while coding but today was SO MUCH FUN! 🙌🏼
Day 91 of learning to code:
I basically don't even count this day as a proper coding day as I spent another 6 hours in the car, traveling back home from the wedding. 🚗🚗 But, I did work on a little side project at
@Codecademy
to practice React hooks 🎉
Day 174 of learning to code:
I reached over 2500 followers, so I thought I should celebrate by getting the blue checkmark! 🔵🩵🟦💙
It seems that y'all dig my little coding journey, so why not spread it further 🥳🫶 you are the best!
Day 63 of learning to code:
Rate my setup! 👩🏻💻
Jk, it was way too cold to stay outside and sit on the ground, even tho the views were 👌🏼
Also, Happy Easter (if u celebrate it) and a happy Sunday to the rest of y’all! 🐣🐰🌷
Day 97 of learning to code:
Managed to finish the React Router lectures and moved on to testing with Jest. Also finished this pet adoption project, where I practiced routing. Feels good to be back in the groove! 🚀🥰 Happy weekend!
Day 81 of learning to code:
My GitHub starting to look like I'm out to get that senior dev position 👀😈
Anyway, I started testing my React app, and let me tell you, it's NO JOKE 😥😥 Slowly, though, I'm resolving some of the issues 🤞
Day 83 of learning to code:
Happy Saturday, guys! 🎉 I had a call with a friend that wants me to help him with the front-end for his web app. I felt like a deer in headlights when he was explaining how everything works 😨😰 I'll have to learn typescript too... 🥲 pray for me
Tech made me understand that nothing is too hard to understand if you put enough effort into it. Before, I would avoid doing ANY kind of math, thinking I simply didn't have a 'math brain' and refusing to engage with it completely. Now, I am actually looking into some basic math
Day 99 of learning to code:
Finally finished all the React lessons WOOOOO!!! 🚀 Let's goo! Straight onto Redux - looks pretty complex so far, let's see how well I fare 👀 How's everyone's Monday been?
Day 98 of learning to code:
Happy Sunday, folks! ☀️ my brain’s steaming trying to write some basic JS, so I’m encouraging myself with some snacks! These giant green olives are my fave 🫒🫒🫒 Do y’all have a favorite coding snack?
I know it's basically a meme by now, but it baffles me every damn time to see a job posting for FRONTEND dev and then have Java, PHP, C# and SQL as requirements for this suddenly 'full-stack developer position' 🙃
Day 145 of learning to code:
Dug around TypeScript a little and had a friend/senior dev explain to me how to use TS and a little bit about Next.js, so that I can help him do some frontend for a project he's working on. Pretty exciting but my head is spinning 😅
It’s a paradise here, but honestly, I kinda miss y’all - tech twitter is so nice 🥰 anyway here are my burnt knees & a dangerously approaching tide 🌊🌊 hope you’re doing well
In January of last year, I decided to change careers from Art History to Frontend Development - it’s been so amazing, albeit challenging. Can’t wait to learn more code, kick ass & finally land that dev job in 2024 🍾💥 here’s to all of y’all 🥂
Day 28 of learning to code:
Look at me go! 🤩💥 Not a single day skipped - proud of myself!
Today was a more relaxed day - I did some practice JS functions, watched a few JS tutorials & finished an older CSS project.
Continuing on my JS journey, wish me luck, guys 🍀🍀
Upgraded my setup! Borrowed a keyboard from my bf & used my old art historical tomes for something actually useful (and yes, this is our dining table) 👩🏻💻my posture is still bad tho, so that’s concerning 🤔🤔
I've recently finished my most ambitious project to date - a full-stack web app 🥳
Made with Laravel-React-Inertia, I really enjoyed working with this stack👌
It's essentially a ChatGPT 'clone' but with specific prompts to help fiction writers brainstorm their stories.
Day 123 of learning to code:
Finished studying hash maps today - shit’s getting harder and harder, but… I can do it! 😮💨💪🏼 here’s a warm, Italian sunset from my balcony to soothe your souls 🫶🏻 did you have a good day?
Day 166 of learning to code:
I sent my first job application today! I wanted to wait before I finished my portfolio website, but then I was like "just throw yourself out there" 🎣
Bit sad tho, cuz most job postings require a college degree... which I have 2 of but not in tech😮💨
Day 122 of learning to code:
I started studying hash maps today and guys, this is probably the first time since like high school that I did a simple division/remainder calculation on paper like this 🙈🙈 maybe I’m not so bad at math after all 😅
Day 54 of learning to code:
I finally finished the JS testing module (YAY!) and moving my way up to some more complex shit that I'm already scared of 🫠🥲 Can my humanities-trained brain handle this? We shall see 😎 (but also pray for me pls)
Question:
In a tech interview, what if you can't actually solve the problem they give you but you have good logic & talk them through the whole process & u might just be missing a small piece of the puzzle? Can you still pass it?
Day 74 of learning to code:
I finished React, Part I and moved straight on to Part II where I started studying props. Fun stuff, although a bit confusing at first🤔I'm feeling pretty good about my progress & looking forward to applying all I learn in practice! 😍
Day 93 of learning to code:
It’s pretty crazy that there’s a 1000 of you just following my silly little coding journey 🥰👀🙏🏼 The support I’ve received from the tech community has been INSANELY positive ❤️ Thank you & pls stick with me longer, I like you!
Remember that mega hard tech interview with the leetcode-like questions from last week?
I only got 3/5 questions right, which was 53% success. I was sure I failed it.
But I actually passed!
And tomorrow I'm meeting with them again to discuss their offer 🙏fingers crossed
Day 106 of learning to code:
Finally finished the damn Redux lessons! I'm almost through with this section 🥳🥳 I also managed to fix a bug in my old React app, and hopefully I can have it running bug-less by the end of the week 🙏 What did you do on this fine Monday?
Day 52 of learning to code:
Spent a few hours working on my portfolio website, but I'm going crazy because I can't figure out the layout, even though I thought it would be easy 😅 I think I jinxed it! Worked on some more JS testing, pushed a project on GH & got a massive headache
Day 79 of learning to code:
Continuing with my React app, it's moving along. Still need to implement some API requests, but that shouldn't be too hard 🤞 I also changed my VS Code theme & it literally makes me excited to write code haha, so pretty! 😍 What's yours?
Day 155 of learning to code:
Failed this exam miserably!
Things to consider:
I studied this stuff 3 months ago.
I didn't revise anything beforehand.
So even though I absolutely need to revise this, knowing half of the stuff I had NO IDEA about 155 days ago is not too shabby 😎
Remember that tech interview I had a month ago? Finally got a response: rejected.
But I must thank the interviewer for giving me a personal & personalized feedback & lots of words of encouragement 🙏🏼
Apparently my only “weakness” was business logic (I had to google what that
Took the whole day off yesterday to celebrate our 4th anniversary with my bf 💕
Apart from getting this massive bouquet that can't even fit into a pic & taking a trip to this Canova museum (so my art historian soul can be happy), we also discussed my future in programming.
I've
Today I had the most intense tech interview so far. Hour and a half of pure leetcode-like exercises with a timer on each 🥲 tech lead was very helpful & encouraging tho, I felt so welcome. Would love to work there
Day 107 of learning to code:
My gosh, I can't seem to get this app to work & it's really frustrating 😮💨 ChatGPT is of no help either. I think I'll have to ask some real-life people 😳😅😅 But at least I made some progress on the learning
Day 133 of learning to code:
Well my last post about recursion made me gain almost 300 followers 😲 idk why or how, I guess recursion just gets the people going! So here's some more recursion I studied today! Implementing it in JS to traverse linked lists 🤠
After back to back tech interviews, all I wanted to do today was nothing.. but I felt inspired by the lilies in my vase so actually picked up a pencil 🎨
Day 89 of learning to code:
I spent 6 hours in the car today, driving across the whole ass country for my cousin’s wedding 🚗 I am beyond exhausted so I only did the bare minimum of coding today😫 but at least I got to see my beautiful country 🏔️🤍
Yesterday, not only did I finish the PHP tutorial and started a new project with PHP and MySQL, but I also managed to make this delishhh lasagna (Italian bf approved) to share with loved ones, now that’s what I call a successful day 🙏🏼 Did you have a good weekend?
Day 156 of learning to code:
What an improvement from yesterday! 🥳 getting closer to this certificate day by day. I also worked on the React project, added some functionalities to the home page, and made some cute icons too.
Day 118 of learning to code:
Studied queues today, but spent most of the day clicking away in Illustrator, working on some custom images for a future project 🤩 but who cares about that - ANYONE WATCHING THE FINALE OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE? 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻 who u cheering for?
Day 12 of learning to code:
A word of advice to
@Codecademy
- teach all the material on CSS Grids first and then introduce Flexbox as a way to make the design that we meticulously crafted with grids responsive. Now that I studied the grids, Flexbox makes a lot more sense 🤔
I am still baffled that this is all the code you need to dynamically fetch sth from a DB, insert it into html, and add more dynamic functionality that changes based on user_id that's maintained in a session. NO HOOKS! PHP is just pure ❤️ (ignore the comments, I'm still learning)
I feel like backend should be taught before frontend. Shit like APIs, state, sessions and such suddenly make total sense when u know what's going on behind the scenes.
Day 104 of learning to code:
Finished the Redux toolkit lesson and I am actually mad how much easier it makes everything 😅🥲 Anyway, mostly worked on my portfolio website, figured out some things I couldn't fix before! Also rested cuz gym is crazy lately 😮💨💪
Day 56 of learning to code:
It feels like it went by way faster than I had ever expected. Trotting along slowly, on my way to that Front-End dev job (hopefully)! 🚀 Hope your weekend was great!
Been feeling a bit meh about X lately, most posts are just the same repetitive tech crap, the same click-baity stuff, the same kind of preaching. I’m not finding much value here & my recent tweets have been pretty value-less too. I think it’s because not posting every day makes
