I’m the son of a refugee. Proud and privileged to be Nottingham Panthers ice hockey match announcer. Spend more time these days at

Outside mowing the grass. This little chap was in the hedge. Really gave me a lift, so I’m putting it on here in the hope it helps anyone else who might be struggling a bit x
I think the hockey we now see in the Elite League is the fastest, most skilled hockey I’ve seen since I started watching in 1980.
But I bloody well wish we’d get some of this once in a while.....
Just reflecting on the terrible news about Mike Hammond. His last game was for GB v Italy in the Worlds and was Hammy at his best. Goal and two assists; Best Player award. A fine legacy.
Very happy I was there to see it. Can’t believe he’s gone. RIP Mike
@LumpyandFriends
This is sad Christine, but what a wonderful life he had, thanks to you and Mike.
Thank you so much for sharing the time you spent with him, and for allowing me the great honour of actually meeting him ❤️
I think the Adam Johnson Memorial Game is a great idea. A game for everyone - players, coaches, refs, fans - to see how we feel and hopefully get back into being at a game.
Big gratitude to Manchester for agreeing to take part in this
First sighting this year of my resident hedgehog 😃. Having a looooong drink of water from the dish I put out. If any of you are inclined to do the same in this very dry spell our wildlife would appreciate it
I actually found that quite emotional at the end. Defended a one goal lead for 23 minutes. Big crowd reaction at the end. Very pleased for the team and the coaches
@TheStourbridge
The supermarket where I go shopping has a basket for donations to a local cat rescue. I put a selection of goodies in there today on your behalf George 😇🙂
I remember last summer as Panthers assembled their squad, there was a constant refrain from some on social media along the lines of ‘where’s the grit’? Tonight was your answer. A month ago Panthers would have lost that game 7-2.
They’ve come so far in the last few weeks ✊
On reflection, that 3rd/4th game was the perfect platform to say goodbye to Corey and Clarkie, watch a goalie change on the fly, and enjoy an obviously oxygen-starved
@Clarke_cohockey
on the longest shift of his career finally get his goal 😄😄
Appalling. Everyone just carried on playing. Back in the day there would have been a proper pile-on and the crowd would have been up and shouting and the penalty boxes would have been full and it would have been great

Point a game as a player. 14 trophies. Unforgettable euro adventure this year. Part of gold medal winning GB coaching team. A lot of wonderful, wonderful nights. Thanks Corey
Walk to the shops greatly enhanced by this lovely cat. Enjoyed copious fussing with much purring before resorting to more mundane tasks
@thecatreviewer
In a rough season, last night was particularly difficult.
It’s not just Adam. The players who were here last season will be sad about Hammy. I suspect most if not all of the British players will at some time in their development have been coached by Mike Urquhart /cont

The Korean team and their officials are such lovely, lovely people. So polite and respectful, and at the end of each game they bow to the spectators 🥲

Yes, me too. And if you’ve not heard it already, he spoke very, very emotionally about Mr Pigden when he was on Desert Island Discs
I’ve put my tree up for the first time since my mum died. This was made and presented to me when I finished work by a group of young people with special needs at Portland College, so has meaning…🙂
I had ten blackbirds this morning, feeding on the fallen apples from my tree that I have carefully saved since the autumn 😇, although they seem to spend more of their time chasing each other than feeding
My chair: not my cat, but the neighbourhood feline psycho who had snuck in unbeknownst to me. When the time came to put him outside, he became a hissing, spitting maelstrom of fur, claws and teeth. Had to shepherd him out behind the safety of a doormat

I hope the people in this picture don’t mind me posting, but for me this sums up the spirit of last week’s tournament and hockey in general. A Poland and GB fan chatting before the game between the two countries 🙂
Looking at my regular

visitor’s collar, I can only conclude that Blofeld actually escaped from that oil rig at the end of Diamonds Are Forever and has moved into a house near me 😬
@thecatreviewer
Lovely surprise rendezvous by the compost heaps tonight when this super cat with amazing eyes appeared from under the hedge, threw itself on the floor and demanded a lengthy fuss. Managed to hit the spot and get the back leg wiggle 😄
@thecatreviewer
The Nottingham Panthers are truly devastated to announce that Adam Johnson has tragically passed away following a freak accident at the game in Sheffield last night.
Delighted to have my trip delayed by this wonderful old mog. At least ten minutes of neck and chin stritches administered, acknowledged by copious dribbling. It wanted more, but I had to go ☹️
@thecatreviewer
I’m feeling really upset at the news that Mike Urquhart has died. Great player and spent many years coaching juniors in Nottingham. He was such a nice man. Always stopped for a chat.
This season can get in the bloody bin
@thecatreviewer
initially shy but very friendly little cat with tiny meow. Enjoyed a massive fuss watched from a distance by its twin brother/sister. 10/10 overall
Laying slabs with site manager Blofeld’s cat. Very vocal if he thought I was doing it wrong (or maybe he was demanding fuss, of which he got plenty ❤️)

I want to thank the club, the Arena, the volunteer stewards, the concessions staff, the mental health/NHS staff, the guard of honour, and everyone else who I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention who were involved in this. I feel slightly less burdened as a result of being there
I get edgy every time there’s a scramble in the crease; when players, particularly the goalies, are down on the ice, amongst the skates, trying to clear the puck. And seeing Jonathan looking like he hasn’t slept for a month 😒. So difficult atm…

"Analysis by the House of Commons research library shows that the UK is lagging behind all 13 of its closest neighbours when it comes to per capita wealth. The 2021 figures show that the UK has a GDP income per head of just £31,038 (less than half as high as Ireland at £65,411).
I bought my visitor Blofeld’s cat

a catnip mouse for when he visits. I think he likes it. He looked a bit spaced out when he left 😃
