Sanctions were designed to pressure Assad to stop killing Syrian civilians but UN humanitarian aid provided a lifeline as the government diverted huge percentages to fund its military. The same Western gov'ts behind the sanctions funded this subterfuge.

We must not forget the ongoing crisis in #Sudan , which now has one of the largest numbers of internally displaced persons in the world. Millions of people need our help. We call on the parties to implement the peace commitments they made in May this year.

The Israeli army pulverizes much of Gaza’s heathcare system, leaving Palestinian civilians to their fate, but when polio breaks out (a predictable consequence), Israel moves to vaccinate its soldiers, not Palestinians.

Why were UNRWA's health centers attacked? Is this really about fighting Hamas, or is it the Israeli military trying to deprive Palestinian civilians of healthcare and render northern Gaza unlivable?

This underground Syrian hospital is a reminder that Syrian and Russian bombers have deliberately targeted medical facilities in opposition-held areas. That's a blatant war crime for which the commanders giving these orders should be brought to justice.

When the truth hurts too much, censor: The Syrian government expels two BBC journalists shortly after the BBC published a report on “direct links” between the trade in Captagon, an amphetamine, and President Assad's family as well as the Syrian military.

Li Wenliang is the Chinese doctor who warned his colleagues about the threat posed by the coronavirus. He was silenced, reprimanded, and ultimately died from the virus, all so Beijing could cover up human-to-human transmission. He is a hero.

Viruses mutate. Uncontrolled viruses mutate faster. Because British authorities did such a poor job of containing the coronavirus, they created the conditions for the virus to mutate to become more contagious.
