You're not wrong, but the state of anime translation is currently in such shambles that unnatural literal translation is preferable to what "localizers" are doing. Best to purge them, put up with a little jank, then replace them with skilled professionals who actually care.

Localizing is turning the 80th rendition of "it can't be helped" into something that sounds more natural in English parlance. Localization is not inserting academia buzzwords into dialogue from characters who would never say it. That is why people are pissed.
