@bitchassdonald
this is based on the false assumption that all art should be consumed exactly as the artist intends
art isn’t concrete, and there is no one way to consume any given piece of art
it is just as authentic to consume in a more personal way that’s suited to your own tastes
the obsession with associating musical fanbases with mental illness and/or neurodivergence is such a plague this is literally the most widely recognizable album cover since abbey road

i can definitely appreciate how this would’ve been groundbreaking at the time but from a modern perspective it’s kinda unbearable. there are modern records which tackle similar themes and are less vapid conceptually which is probably why i find it underwhelming.

you're not allowed to speak on this album if you've never had terrible mental health. it was made by someone in a terrible place, for people in a terrible place, and if you've never experienced that? you don't get it.
there’s nothing wrong with sleep scrobbling per se but it’s just kind of stupid the whole point of scrobbling is to accurately track the music you listen to idk why you would want to make it less accurate by including music you didn’t actually listen to

reminds me of that one spoiled white video essayist who made a whole video that’s just him realizing rap music is art and having an existential crisis thanks to it

Anything where guitars play nothing but evenly spaced downbeats with no swag or panache - where the drummer may as well be a drum machine - where the singer sucks balls and it is all delivered with the upmost sincerity - fuck that
