That's not me playing at Rampage fyi
it's someone else
***just a reminder i have a paper trail going back to 1997
as Alley Cat as DJ and 2000 as a producer ***
my daugher got 3 uni offers already Goldsmiths and 2 others - I am super proud 🥰 she has been thru hell the last few months and I just want to celebrate her 💖💃🏼
Earlier this week I posted about 25 years ESP. Today we remember Marcus Intalex. Marcus played such a huge part of the agency for well over a decade alongside other Soul:r artists who come over as a group when I started working at ESP myself.
last night on Kool I played 5 of my own tunes ( 4 x Alley Cat) and one other thing : x 💀💀💀I have never in 26 years had this much of my own music let alone felt confident enough to play them and mix them with tunes from my heroes. NEVER give up 💜💜💜
photo of Dom,
@MattOptical
& Fierce + Simon V, taken in my (now) husband's office room at his mum's circa 1998 is now immortalised here (great tune btw)
Vaccine was such a pioneer in dubstep with her sound. We need to keep remembering her music even if she's less active. It's really important and I just adore what she has created.
@maryannehobbs
was a champion of her music at the time also xx
I just started watching the Mandolorian yesterday - I managed to ignore all the infos about it since it came out. I'm emotional. It has the spirit of the orig Star Wars films which I grew up on imho and I just love it
i was trying to explain to my daughter how amazing it was to be a young person pre-internet as we just really didnt know a lot about what people were doing or thinking? All we knew about artists was maybe MTV interviews if we managed to record it to VHS or like magazines.
there's a party on tonight with about 95% female artists on the lineup and it sold out about 2 months ago and it's gonna be rad and we will have a glorious evening and it was not advertised as a ladies night . An example of what IS possible.
20 years ago I co-wrote a song 'Dreams' that came out on Reinforced. There was a bit of a snafu with the artwork at the time and Alley Cat wasn't on the vinyl (but I had a writer credit). Today I am pleased to share with Marc Mac's help I'm finally on DSP's as Alley Cat + writer
25 years of the first
@ESPagency
booking - it was Gene Ferris at Tresor in Berlin - Mark isn’t on twitter but wanted to mention - we will share some stories on instagram this week 💜
going through old hard drives and found the original Kokeshi logo. I still dig it and look back at how different it was at the time compared to other bass music branding.
with all this Bandcamp stuff going on I really have to think about to A Bunch of Cuts and how ahead of it's time it was. Also I miss the events! What an amazing era of drum'n'bass history <3
my daughter just brought home her latest music tech project and its basically a witch house tune w/ a massive attack breakbeat sample which she reversed *proud mama*
Vaccine has left us - I cannot believe this - my condolences to her family - what a beautiful soul
💜💜💜💜💜 - forever my Offshore sister — you made an impact that many of us saw and I hope she knew that 💜💜💜💜

Spirit's funeral yesterday was difficult but also beautiful. I learned a lot about his key role in the Ipswich scene. He really brought a lot of people together through his music and from selling records at Redeye. What a lovely community they have there. I miss him so much !!!
i played a buttload of tunes from female artists at my gig last night. *it's not that difficult** something from Samurai (not sure if I can say who), The Untouchables (one half is female) , Myself (oh hai!) and also
@DjEmpressNyc
's new tune on Ram. We're out here.
@EQ50dnb
TONITE - its also my b day so show some love 🖤🖤🖤 I really like this set as it showcases the tunes i have been loving this summer and a few old school bits too xx 🥳🥳🥳
remember in Friends where Ben Stiller is a total a-hole and Ross sees it but none of the others see it and he wants them to SEE what he SEES?? That — but its the music industry
Marcus, Calibre,
@MCDRS
, Stamina came over as a group and that was the tipping point of things evolving to something bigger. I still remember after an ABOC ?night- the next morning
@MCDRS
and Marcus helped us move. WHO DOES THAT? That always stuck with me

average 'everyday sexism' in music. On soundcloud someone asks for a tune ID - it's not on 'his' soundcloud page they say. It could actually be a she right? In fact it is a 'she' because it's one of my own tunes under an alias. People just assume its a dude being ironic
i got a fb message last night from a guy saying he loves my music but also to complain that he doesn't like my hair blonde and I was prettier when I had it red or black and why did I change it ?
@EverydaySexism
one of our reg promoters from Poland called today and feel emotional just talking to another human being . Hope we can work with them again this year <3
We should talk about the perpetual gaslighting in the music industry when trying to get the bare minimum out of folks that's like 'normal' stuff required . I'm used to it but once in a while this stuff gets to me sometimes.
it would be cool if on these amazing commercial dnb shows in the US if more women could be added to the lineups (of which there is many stateside talent that would smash it) I saw Iris on one bigger event (one) . IDK just spitballing here.
my phone died on a long walk today - absolutely relieved and delighted about the news - the last few years have been so dark and I feel like there is hope again . UK can we have an election soon too?
following on to what
@JackSpectrasoul
said yesterday..so many r*pe deniers..sorry your fave DJ isn't the messiah --- time to face reality.Honestly some of the comments I have seen are disgusting. Even in old school Rave FB groups that are supposed to be all PLUR.
the A Bunch of Cuts concept was totally ahead of it's time. Yes I was involved in the events side but I mean the music platform ITSELF. Lightyears ahead. It was the Bandcamp of it's time. Want to celebrate that! And the events were of course epic - so many memories

help me understand people that are all wellness and P L U R and love DNB but also homo / transphobic and full of hate. not sure how good that is for the Qi . It's also wild to me in 2023 you'd say this stuff outright and believe a bunch of folks will validate your bigot-y views.
tunes from Total Science, Deep Blue (via Offshore) A Sides , Spirit, Ill Logic and Raf, Marcus Intalex and ST Files and much more ! Think 99- early 2000s
Day 6 of producing every day for at least 30 mins in January. The last few days I seem to have a technical issue and now I remember why I always lose steam LOL Enjoying it though and its working good enough for now.
I was out for a walk earlier and i saw a doggo with no human so I went to say hi - it told me to
follow her so I did and she showed me where she lived and she tapped on the door with her little paw and I knocked and got her back home - so wholesome 💜🐾🐶🐕🦮
and we're now in September and label has barely engaged with me about this. Whatever the outcome of all of this and the name and branding I think its absolutely shite these guys can't take 10 minutes to have a discussion with me. I've been cool in not naming names thus far

seeing new opportunites for women / lgbtq in dnb but most of what i am seeing isnt anything that pays 👀👀👀👀👀🤷♀️ or shitty deals - dont feel you have to accept what is being offered to be included - *logs off again***
Got 2 mixes coming soon- All Dubplate Mix for History of Jungle this Tuesday and an upfront DNB mix for
@clubGRETCHEN
soon ! Will post again on the days of shows xx
💯 - even in touring / advancing just to get the MCs the same treatment as the DJs - these voices are vital to DNB / Jungle yet often treated like a burden or afterthought and its so disheartening 😞
Happy Mother’s Day to me ! +all the other mamas out there - to those that mother in other ways and to those battling to have children thru ivf surrogacy adoption etc - so many ways to be a mama / parent or carer 🥰
the guys filming said it was like watching someone in their room - i think because i had moments i forgot where i was and was just totally in the zone - which is very special - the great sound in there helped!! 💜💜💜
i know the general idea is that agents do very little and we just rake in the cash but I have worked my ass off this week and I'm saying it cuz no one else will
I played in Stuttgart last weekend - some of the local crew talked to me at length about Kokeshi and what the label did at the time- not many people mention it anymore - when I thought about this after I got so emo because I worked so hard at curating the sound + the events
My 30th October show archive is up
Having gratitude that music lifts me even when a lot of other stuff is dragging me down rn
(i dont know why this is the URL lol)
We're back to hand out more awards. A whopping SEVEN women out of 120 artists over three days? (could it be 8, then it's nearly a matriarchy isn't it 😅) Amazing work, how did you find seven whole women, cheers lads (ps what's an
#inclusionrider
)
#drumnbass
also for the ppl who like me maybe have some executive function probs/shutdowns about production - find YOUR own workflow that works for YOU. I'll never be a technical whizz -I'm cool W/ that. I do it my way and thats good enough for me + a label that signed some of my tunes

So..my first show
@koolfmofficial
is TODAY !!
9PM - 11PM GMT
1PMf you're West Coasticles USA
4PM East Coasticles USA
2200 CET
Happy to be back on the airwaves 📷
gotta give a shout out to Raze Sound System at
@OutlookFestival
it was nice to play vinyl and not have any concerns, be able to hear myself , feel the weight of the lower frequencies and everything was in order . Not always the case. Just made it even more fun / relaxed
fun fact I actually co produced a tune on Reinforced. They did the artwork without our approval so it went out as Native Minds only (my name is in the credits underneath) so that was a bummer at the time -->> Native Minds - Dreams
here's my theory and it's going to be depressing but here goes :
Artist will go to shows and be fairly protected
Attendees will go to shows and not care and have fun
Festival and Venue stuff will all get covid in 2 to 3 weeks then events will get shut down anyway
these pioneers - especially women it is so so rare. She had a HUGE affect on me she probably doesn't even know. Stuff wasn't even digitally available yet but its out there now so it becomes even more timeless / available so if its 10 years old who cares? Iconic. Also Kito. TYSM.

really have to big up
@lobstertheremin
for a super diverse lineup + many staff women/ NB , asking for pronouns for our artists as well-which I think is going to be more common moving forward --as it should be <3
three years and a hell of a lot of gratitude to be back at
@sunandbass
again. Really excited to play on the stage I'm playing on which I guess I can't share yet : x
Wow, almost three years have passed, and we're finally meeting again in Drum'n'Bass paradise: Only 13 days until we are back in Sardinia for our special week. Check out our big line up - we are proud and overjoyed to be back with you!
remember a year ago when we were all stressing about how we would navigate gigs in the EU cuz of Brexit - ohh if we were only to know what was to come. Also Brexit can suck my D
I can't believe this. Leon and his dad were such a big part of my early years arriving in London..sitting around for hours - I'd bring my daughter after she was born to hang out with me for the day. Sweetest man. I'm so sad : (
So saddened to learn of the passing of Leon Chue the master dub plate cutting engineer at Music House London since the mid 90s ..his quiet, reserved demeanour and devotion to his craft was something to behold. Heartfelt condolences to his family. RIP Leon.
So yeah in any case I have an album coming out this year and I'm really proud of it and there's some collaborations on there that teenage me is freaking out about. And nobody can take that away from me. So there !
dear Anti V*xxers . Me sitting in a Starbucks minding my own biz isn't an invite to come up and share your views with me. Been in the US 3 days didn't take long.
We’re reissuing the landmark Kemistry & Storm DJ-Kicks. So many of you have told us how much this mix means to you so we knew it had to be part of our 25th DJ-Kicks year. Streaming for the first time today and pre-order for all formats:
I FEEL SEEN - please read this is exactly how I feel. Yes we are open but it has not been easy and everyone is going to be messed up for a long time. And yes I'm grateful to be working again but it has been a load XL
Hate to break kayfabe on the timeline but every artist we work with feels burned out. Every artist we speak to feels burned out. Had three meetings yesterday, everyone burned out — and we've got festivals emailing at 10am telling us we need to respond to offers by noon.
