There's no need to be bitter about Solana.
Invest where you want to invest; build where you want to build.
I choose to build on Algorand because of the dev X, roadmap, and scalability.
The price of SOL has no bearing on that decision.
Just want to say a massive thanks to all the
#algofam
for the support 🙌
It's really satisfying to have found something I can contribute that people get value from.
Your feedback is what inspires me to keep writing.
I had no idea how flexible ASAs are in
#Algorand
!
Stupidly, I skipped over most of that in the documentation, thinking it would be similar to other chains.
So many possibilities...
Thanks to the overwhelming response from the
#CardanoCommunity
I've decided to give it a go building on
@Cardano
🙌
Started with the
@meshsdk
today 🤙
I will document my journey and experiences with the Cardano developer tools and community libraries.
What a great day for Algorand! 🐍
I've had so much fun building with Python in developer preview.
Now v1 has launched with a tonne of improvements and new documentation.
Honestly very excited for where Algorand is heading.
LFG 🔥
#Algorand
#Python
#Algorand
's developer experience is underrated.
AlgoKit just works.
Localnet is awesome.
Dappflow is snappy and responsive.
Algod is easy to use.
Beaker templates get you up and running in no time.
SDKs in all the popular languages.
Contracts in subsets of Python & Typescript.
Which
#blockchain
should I build on?
Choices:
1.
@Cardano
because I love Haskell and functional programming and believe in
@IOHK_Charles
' vision
2.
@NEARProtocol
because their docs and dev tools look amazing, and they have a developer incentive
3.
@0xPolygon
for the network
#algofam
, what smart contract would you like to see on
#Algorand
?
I will build and open-source whatever the most popular idea is (assuming it's possible!).
Why does
#Python
matter for
#Algorand
?
🧠 It's the language of AI & ML
🎓 Taught in schools & unis
2️⃣ 2nd most popular language in the world
📖 Has incredible open-source libraries
🔒 The NSA recommends it as a memory-safe language!
This week I'm looking at how to build a hashed timelock contract with
#Python
on
#Algorand
.
Special thanks to those of you that have followed me on hashnode and left likes, comments etc.
It helps the articles reach a wider audience 🥳

#Cardano
is the
#Haskell
of blockchains.
Both:
• Are based on lambda calculus
• Are rooted in academia
• Have die-hard fans
• Have poor tooling
• Are not widely adopted by devs or industry
A bit different from my usual posts...
In this one I discuss:
• Python as a first language
• Dynamic vs. static typing
• How Algorand Python works
• ARC-4 encoding
• Tips for beginners

Algo Foundation attending PyCon is a great move 🐍
I've watched a lot of PyCon/PyData talks on YouTube over the years.
Often inspires you to try a new package/library.
@deantribble
can you elaborate?
Have you ever seen the models that trillions of dollars flow through in TradFi?
Do you know which language AI is written in?
Do you know the NSA recommends Python as a memory-safe language?
And your alternative is JavaScript. Fascinating.
2 hours ago we logged a block on

with more than 27.4k transactions! Resulting in a TPS of 8073 🔥
Part of our new networks section which we'll open up soon! 👀

$ALGO April 2024: New Strategic Milestones
Here are the fresh initiatives and partnerships from
@Algorand
set to elevate its position in the global blockchain landscape.
1. Enhanced Python Integration:
Algorand has deepened its Python integration, launching advanced tools that
The most remarkable thing about blockchains is their ability to achieve consensus amongst disparate individuals.
If you think everyone needs to share your political opinions, you clearly don't get it.

Disclaimer on my blog posts - I'm just experimenting with new ideas for the sake of learning.
Not saying any of the ideas are better than something that already exists.
Hopefully some day I'll stumble on something worth building properly.
Until then, I tinker 🫡
This is a massive win for
#Algorand
.
Be the blockchain of choice for Python developers.
Show how to use familiar tools like pytest, Pydantic, FastAPI etc with Algorand.
This is an enormous developer market that surprisingly isn't targeted much in the blockchain world.
Think about this, now everyone who is familiar with Python (students, hobbyists, beginners, ML/AI engineers, data scientists) - can build on Algorand without training, and enterprise… their existing teams now have all the knowledge they need to build great apps on Algorand.
I have no affiliation with
@txpipe_tools
but I have to say they deserve massive props. They're providing critical tools and allowing developers to host the infrastructure themselves.
That could be the key difference that helps keep
#Cardano
dApps decentralised.

@NFDomains
All done!

And now forwards to my blog! How cool.
Very slick UX
@NFDomains
, amazing work!
Shows how seamless the experience can be given Algorand's transaction speed. Love it.
Do you like interacting with apps on Algorand?
Meet, Use-Wallet!
It's our tool that makes it super easy for apps to work with all the different Algorand wallets. Use-Wallet is open-source and free to use, and is being used by many of your favorite apps!

Minted my first NFT on

using algobase 😊
Only on localnet but still exciting.
Will be adding a guide once I've adapted it for testnet and mainnet as well.
1. It shows there's a place for non-EVM chains.
2. It's a reminder of how quickly things can change.
3. People care about UX, and Algo > Sol > Eth UX.
4. It's possible for a chain to become a victim of its own success (Eth) when investors in the space are chasing volatility.

My biggest struggle as a developer is resisting the temptation to write code that looks clever, interesting, or terse.
Instead of code that's simple, familiar, and easy to read.
It's funny to see how marketing influences thought.
Solana's memes are about being 'as fast as the laws of physics allow' and 'synchronising at the speed of light'.
Another month, another large drop in CPI as we’ve been expecting...
Wage inflation is yesterday's news and unemployment is likely to begin rising very soon.
Here are the top 5 charts

IOHK has still never released a stable front end JS package.
Pretty much all of the best tools in the Cardano ecosystem have come from the community.
And the community is awesome.
But it feels like there's a serious lack of focus on developer experience at IOHK.
@clcoding
Let's say I have an empty box.
`all` is like saying 'for all apples in the box, each apple is green'.
There are no apples, so it's true.
Whereas `any` is like saying 'there exists an apple in the box such that the apple is green'.
Which isn't true, because the box is empty.
Let’s have a conversation about metrics, apples, and oranges.
Each blockchain has its own metrics and its own methods for calculating them. Nothing wrong with that.
However, where things go awry, is when these metrics get aggregated by analytics providers at face value, without

Gareth shills his "verified" record but his website's T&Cs say this:
"ALL TRACK RECORD PERFORMANCE DETAILS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED HYPOTHETICAL... ONE OF THE LIMITATIONS OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS IS THAT THEY ARE GENERALLY PREPARED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT."
WEF "agenda contributor", Yuval Noah Harari: "When I look at Bitcoin... I don't like it because this is a money built on distrust."

From The Zen of Python:
• Simple is better than complex
• Explicit is better than implicit
• Readability counts
That's why Python is a great HLL for smart contracts.

They've been working on it since at least as far back as July 2021.
That's honestly ridiculous.
I want Cardano to succeed.
This needs to turn around.
