From the Rawls archive at Harvard, something that moved me was that he would rewrite his lectures longhand, year by year. This was the most famous political philosopher in the world and, even with all the demands on his time, he never cut corners.

My first day teaching in my career (2006) was my worst: lovingly set up the wrong room, was so hurt when no one showed, realised my error, ran, arrived out of breath, fumbled with the tech, gave a wooden lecture to embarrassed students. I've been on an upward trajectory since.
