A week ago we were finalizing what would be the most lit roll call in convention history. A collaboration between the campaign, convention, surrogates, & *57* state/territory parties — the biggest demonstration of the huge coalition ready to work together to elect

!
SOME NEWS: I joined the
@joebiden
team this week as Northeast States Director. I couldn’t be more proud to help deliver wins across states in the northeast— especially in my home state of PA. It’s time for experienced, empathetic leadership in the White House. LET’S GO! 🇺🇸 💫
There’s a whole lot of people on here who think Taylor Swift getting involved in politics is silly and unimportant because they think her target audience, young women, is silly and unimportant. Send tweet.
Folks have been so kind these last few days— a good reminder of the larger fight we are up against and how we can all come together in such dark moments. Thank you to team
@KamalaHarris
for being so thoughtful and sending lunch to Beto HQ in El Paso.
We have to be open and honest about the injustices of our past and present to make change in the future.
@BetoORourke
doesn’t shy away from the hard conversations— not something you often see in politics. That’s the type of leader we need.
Something that we've been talking about in town hall meetings -- the legacy of slavery in the United States -- now has a much more personal connection. I was recently given documents showing that both Amy and I are descended from people who owned slaves.
Can’t stop thinking about how anyone who is a millennial or younger has literally never known stability. Crisis after crisis after crisis. A generation of anxiety.

-35% of Americans under 35 now say they don't have health insurance
Imagine being so out of touch that you think Bernie Sanders can’t win in a general but Chris Coons can. Imagine looking around a country where Donald Trump was elected and you say yep the answer to this is Chris Coons
@llerer
@BernieSanders
Superdelegates are dreaming about a savior at the convention. Some white knights they proposed:
Sherrod Brown
Michelle Obama
Kamala Harris
Mark Warner
Chris Coons (!)

I’ve heard more about the Call Her Daddy/VP Harris interview from my friends who aren’t in politics than I have from them about any political interview ever. Actually maybe any interview ever, period
Baseline facts:
-People have more content choices than ever
-If you consume political info, you want to consume political info
-Most of the remaining voters we need to talk to don't
That trad press don't get this sorta...speaks to the reason why this fact pattern exists!
Debate nights are long and hard. After the Ohio debate, team Beto walked to our car, exhausted and starving, and out of nowhere appeared
@CoryBooker
with a container full of delicious buckeye cookies. He insisted we all take one. What a lovely human and what a lovely campaign.
Good reminder: this is very, very, good and
@BetoORourke
played a very, very, big role in making this happen. Changed Texas and American politics forever.
Whoa. Texas tops 16 million voters as registration deadline looms. We’ve added almost 2 million voters just since 2016. We are adding voters far faster than our population is even growing!
This video a friend sent me of her sheer delight at the number or Biden supporters in her western PA suburban neighborhood might be the most Pittsburgh thing ever
As
@JoeBiden
travels through southwestern PA today— to places like Greensburg and Johnstown— better believe this will be top of mind for many of the folks that he meets.
Biden looking directly into the camera to say how proud he is of his son in recovery is the kind of clip that might seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things — but for anyone who loves one of the 20 million Americans with substance use disorders, wow oh wow what a moment.
This moment transcends politics. Nothing could be more important than taking care of one another right now. So proud to work for
@BetoORourke
and so grateful for his leadership.
An emotional moment: Beto O’Rourke meets Sean Nixon, 20, a Walmart employee who was there at the time of the shooting and helped a child.
O’Rourke asked if he was getting counseling, offered his personal cell number and said to call if he needs help.
Was with Beto in Vegas when he heard about El Paso & decided to go right back. Was on that plane when a victim's son approached him & asked him to go to the hospital. Was with him when he went to said hospital. Was there when we drove to Odessa & he asked me not to tell press.
If you work in politics and only work for people you believe in, your happiness and self-worth will never depend on the outcome.
Proud of and grateful to so many I know for helping to fight the good fight this year.
Make no mistake: whether CNN likes it or not I quite literally just moved all of my things from San Francisco to El Paso in July so both this campaign and my physical being are HEATING. UP.
I quit my job, took a pay cut, moved across the country, and spent pretty much every waking moment (annoyingly so, to many reporters I’m sure!) working because I believed in him and the campaign. Period.
Two months later, these messages haven’t stopped, and it’s unacceptable.
Beto got a DUI over 20 years ago, has apologized, learned from his mistakes.
Assault style weapons that you shill for killed 28 in Sandy Hook. 17 in Parkland. 11 in Pittsburgh. 22 in El Paso. 7 in Odessa just last week. And so, so many more.
When will you learn from yours?
You drove drunk and nearly killed someone and then tried to flee the scene, so chill. If you want to discuss rhetoric, you’re granting gov’t permission to take arms and go door to door to confront innocent, lawful Americans and steal their property from them.
"Trump is getting beaten this week by a better man. Beto is not going low in the way that Trump does. He's bringing more nuance, insight & honest emotion to the dialogue. He is waging the debate on all the platforms that Trump uses. & O’Rourke is winning."

Your random election data stat(s) of the day: 2,644,532 people have registered to vote in Texas since Election Day '16. 1,660,173 of those new voters are people of color and/or under the age of 25. Trump carried the state by 807,179 votes.
The most meaningful part of the last few months wasn’t on the campaign trail but off of it; when I was just getting to know
@BetoORourke
and we were spending most of our time in hospitals, at the scene of a terror attack, at blood drives, at vigils, and at his dining room table
“If Donald Trump and his Park Avenue pals start paying their fair share — we’ll have more than enough to finally build an economy that works for everyone.
So, I promise you this: I see you. I hear you. I respect you.”

Looking forward to making sure that

And for Warren and Sanders, their problem is that the NBC/WSJ poll shows their stances on some issues -- like single-payer -- are out of step with the rest of the country
Translation: Trump uses Beto as scapegoat to backout of imaginary “deal” he was never going to take so he can continue lying for money from the
@NRA
at the expense of American lives.
Republicans have been using tired excuses for YEARS. Time’s up. Act now.
Beto ahead of the pack with A LOT of firsts tonight. First on Flint, on challenges farmers face, on reparations, on mental health for vets. No talking points— just truth.
Finally! Beto O'Rourke is the *first* candidate to point out that Trump's trade policies are a disaster for farmers and workers.
Why isn't every single Democrat saying this? It's insane!
Spent a good chunk of my last two years working on impeachment and can say Beto was one of the first-- and one of the only-- out there unequivocally on the issue even when most thought it was politically risky for him in Texas.
He's as clear and forceful today as he was then.
.
@BetoORourke
on impeachment: “It’s really time for Speaker Pelosi & the House to do their job”
“If we allow the president to get away with the crimes that he has committed, we will have set the precedent that some people...are really above the law.”
"What Beto O’Rourke is doing right now is a response to both the existential horror of Trumpism but also the vapid emptiness of Bidenism, this idea that you can offer America nothing more than “I’m not Trump” and pretend not to notice the world is on fire."
Beta O'Rourke: Since El Paso, Beto has gone nearly full-'Bulworth,' from F-bombs to real talk on race, from gun shows to ICE-raided Mississippi. It's the emotional response we need to Trump right now...but will it matter? My new column
One line zingers ain't gonna cut it.
@BetoORourke
will have this fight everyday, with anyone who wants to have it. Let's have the moral courage to fight for what we believe in-- not give into symbolic half-measures. It hasn't worked in the past. It won't work now.
O’Rourke called for getting rid of for-profit prisons & cash bail on top of ending the War on Drugs, legalizing marijuana & expunging the records of those who served time so they have a better chance of re-entering the workforce or going back to school.

: “I refuse to even acknowledge the politics or the polling, or the fear or the NRA."
“He electrified hundreds gathered around him at The Churchill, drawn to his message of combating climate change, fighting against income inequality and calling for mandatory buyback of assault weapons.”
“You heard the same stump from the candidates that we’ve heard since February, March— except for
@BetoORourke
. Only a few times brought this crowd to its feet— it was him talking about guns that really elevated the conversation and spoke to the moment.”
I come from a corner of the world that doesn’t have a lot of trust in our political system— Obama/Trump voters who feel they’ve been shut out. When I go home I get in lots of fights over politics— but getting this text this morning from home about
@BetoORourke
was everything.
I specifically came to work for
@BetoORourke
because I knew it would take a coalition of voters like the one he assembled in Texas in ‘18 to defeat Trump. We need a nominee who will follow his lead.
Nashville is feeling
@BetoORourke
this afternoon. It’s the loudest room I’ve been in for a political candidate in Tennessee—ever.
It felt like a University of Tennessee football game in here.
"
@NextGenAmerica
is quintupling down and investing an additional $5 million into the Florida election, recognizing that a rising tide of voters coming out for Gillum will lift all Democratic boats. . ."
As Beto said,
@CoryBooker
has been a leader on gun violence for a long time & we're a better party for it. But worth noting he didn't come out for licensing until his run for President. & why pick a fight with the guy who agrees with you instead of the many candidates who don't?
Cory Booker criticized Beto O'Rourke for only supporting federal gun licensing after the El Paso shooting: "Are we going to have to wait until hell’s lottery comes to your community?"
Beto gives 25 minute speech on a terrorist attack in his hometown, racism, gun policy, and the urgency of defeating
@realDonaldTrump
. This is what
@time
takes from it.
Irresponsible reporting— but mostly just vapid and cheap. Go ahead and get those clicks tho.
A long, crushing, day. Happy to be safe in my new home of El Paso. A community that stands strong and leans on each other. And thankful to
@BetoORourke
for (always) speaking truth to power about what we’re facing as a nation— leadership that is much needed in this moment.
Beto not having a narrow, sliced & diced coalition is *the point*—in TX, brought together the most diverse coalition in history: 500k Republicans, more Dems than any candidate in history; in big cities & small towns; Latinx, black, white, doesn't matter.
@NateSilver538
"Not everyone in this state or in this country is enjoying equal protection under the law."
Beto O'Rourke responded to a crowd member who urged the Democratic candidate to address Native American issues during a stump speech in Norman, Oklahoma.
"I would prefer that the president not come to El Paso."
Beto O'Rourke responds to Pres. Trump's scheduled visit to the city, telling
@ABC
News that many in El Paso "do not want to see him here, understand that he is part of the problem."
If we’re going to make progress, we need to meet folks where we are and have open, honest, and sometimes hard conversations— even with people who’ve traditionally been written off or we assume disagree with us.
@BetoORourke
went to a gun show in Arkansas today to do just that.
Beto O’Rourke just went to a gun show in Conway, Arkansas where he spoke with firearm owners & sellers about gun violence.
He spent about 30 minutes discussing possible solutions with people who had agreements and disagreements with the fmr congressman.

Perhaps the most surprising finding in our poll: Majority support for an assault weapons ban -- *including a mandatory buyback*. Nearly everyone who supports the former supports the latter as well.
I can think of nothing— nothing— more irresponsible than the

printing a story about unsourced “speculation” at this time. Beto is running for President. He is staying in El Paso to be with his community during this time. Because that’s what real leaders do.
Beto O'Rourke has canceled his planned Iowa trip to stay in El Paso as the city copes with the aftermath of last week's shooting. But his campaign manager dismissed speculation he's exiting the race. Via

RT if you want a president who thinks leadership means having empathy and compassion.

@BetoORourke
proud is an understatement i texted this to pretty much everyone in my phone today. friends family reporters my dermatologist ex boyfriends made no difference i am not sorry
O’Rourke’s campaign is very proud of this speech. They’ve been flagging it in fundraising emails, etc. I don’t know what the technical threshold is for going “viral,” but check the view count on this clip- 1.3mil views in a day seems pretty close...

while discussing mandatory buybacks and the politics surrounding: "It actually polls fairly well. A WashPo/ABC poll that came out last week actually found that a majority of Americans actually support that idea."
Americans want bold leadership.
Nineteen-year-old Randy Brown said he was impressed with O’Rourke’s message.
“He doesn’t seem to care that he’s a Democrat as much as he cares that he’s an American,” Brown said.
“I’ve been pretty tough on Beto’s presidential campaign so far. A lot of other journalists have too. But campaigns are longer & more fluid than we journalists often acknowledge. This week’s debate made me realize a real strength of the O’Rourke campaign.”
“It’s an insult to the man who endured Trump’s ire just because he showed the compassion and leadership El Paso need and which the president himself couldn’t offer.”
