8 years ago today I auditioned to be an extra in an ad. 2 day shoot @ £250 a day. I deliberated “do I want to do a walk on role?” I went, and ended up being cast as the lead. I was paid enough to clear ALL my debt from uni, and it left me money to enjoy. ALWAYS DO THE AUDITION

Just caught the end of Hook. It reminded me that author JM Barrie (generously) gifted the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London in 1929. To this day, the hospital still receives royalties from all productions and publications. What an incredible legacy.

Well, that was an absolutely incredible night at the LA premiere of The Outfit. It was so lovely to spend an evening with some of our incredible cast, producers, and creatives. I can’t wait to get home to Sarah and the kids, I only wish they could have shared the experience.

I hate the football vs theatre rubbish. Football IS theatre! It brings joy, sadness, anger, euphoria. It makes us laugh, cheer, and cry. It has an audience, it is best enjoyed live, it brings people together. Football gives young people hope, and focus. You CAN like both.

During shooting on The Outfit I said to Mark that one of my biggest regrets was not seeing him in Jerusalem 11 years ago. Well, last night we got to change that. I don’t know how one person can give a performance so incredible. Friends, Mark Rylance is truly on another level.

10 years ago today was my 1st day of Billy Elliot rehearsals. I spent 8 months worrying I’d be fired. Aside from my insecurity about dance, there were odd “you didn’t train at drama school, did you?” attempts to belittle me. 10 years on, I finally feel proud of myself. How sad.

Sat in a theatre and watched a full length musical tonight. Do you know what was really magical? It was like it had never gone anywhere. Theatre is like an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time. At first it’s a bit ‘odd’, but after 5 minutes, it’s just like the old days.

9 years ago today, I sat up writing almost 150 emails to casting directors, producers, and directors. I sent them hoping to get a couple of auditions. I had no idea I’d end up spending two years at the Victoria Palace, in the most incredible show. The point is; put the work in.

Dreams DO come true. That’s my face on the front of a DVD cover, on a shelf, in HMV. I am not exaggerating when I say I used to look at VHS covers and dream of that being me one day. I’ve waited my entire adult life for that moment, and now it’s happened, it was worth the wait.

He says clearly that from August 1, live indoor performances are permitted after pilots, and provided they are Covid-safe. It’s still a long way to normal, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. Lives must come first, but this is so freaking exciting!

Week 7 done: 7.4lb lost. Total: 47.6lb (or 3 stone 5.6lb) down. 52.4lb to hit target. I usually do this on Monday, but I’ve decided to close the week a day early, and do Sunday to Sunday instead. So in effect, that’s 7.4lb down in 6 days. Time to up my calorie intake again!

Rang my doctor to arrange some blood tests for March. The receptionist couldn’t book them in just yet, but made up for it by telling me I’ve literally become eligible for the vaccine this morning. “When can I book it?” I asked. “Today?” he asked. I love our NHS. 💙

I’ve just realised that for the last 10 years, I’ve worked exclusively in the arts, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of myself. It took me until I was nearly 30 to actually ‘work’, so don’t give up, no matter how hard it gets! It’s worth the fight.

Week 2, another 8.4lb lost. Total 19.4lb Step count yesterday was my highest in over 5 months Resting heart rate continues to follow a downward trend (now down an average 22bpm since Jan 1) Most importantly, I’m sleeping great, I have more energy, and best of all, I feel great

Rang my doctor to arrange some blood tests for March. The receptionist couldn’t book them in just yet, but made up for it by telling me I’ve literally become eligible for the vaccine this morning. “When can I book it?” I asked. “Today?” he asked. I love our NHS. 💙

Don’t say “I’m sorry, we went in another direction” if what you mean is “we cast the director’s mate (again)”. It’s much less offensive when you’re just honest with an actor. It’s a slap in the face, demotivating, and upsetting when you make out the actor ‘wasn’t the right fit’.

83 year old client has an 11am Zoom recall. She then gets a train & a tube to London for a last-minute audition for an A-list director at 3pm. This client has done huge films, tons of TV, yet here they are, still *grafting*. Tell me how ‘inconvenient’ that self-tape is again.

People moaning about repeated posts of people and their kids in the snow; you realise these kids have been cooped up inside their homes for months and months? No soft play, no playgrounds, no seeing friends, not even allowed to go to school, right? Get a grip, and shut up. ❄️ ⛄️

Whoever made the decision to gaffer tape Yuki Tsunoda’s rear wing DEFINITELY used to be a stage manager in a theatre. LX tape fixes everything in the theatre, and apparently F1 is no different.

Father’s Day... Cursing the absolute loser that is/was my ‘father’, whilst being treated like a truly valued, appreciated dad by my little family. You’re meant to learn what it takes to to be a good ‘dad’ from your own; I literally learnt what NOT to do. Funny old world!
