We invested $12M bringing their total capital raised to $90M.
@balajis
This is wrong… they made a rookie error of interest rate maturity mismatch in liabilities and assets. In interest rate risk management you should always aim to have more or less similar maturity.. this means money from DDA accounts you should invest in short term HQLA
@alexandr_wang
I would go further if people work in these “brand” companies for too long, this means they have accepted mediocrity/bureaucracy as norm. You do not want these people in a start up.
Lots of people congratulating on our latest funding round
@RevolutApp
. It’s only day 1 for us, I am more bullish than ever we will be the first trillion dollar FS business. Let’s go!!!

The clampdown on
#bitcoin
by UK banks is really an infringement on the pathetic amount of freedom we have in the UK. Also, it will drive innovation to more friendly countries.
@TomTugendhat
, I know you support ETH but the UK should be supporting
#bitcoin
too.
We should talk!
@alexandr_wang
For me, the first 21 years of my life was complete waste. Studying for skills that I had no interest in, memorising pointless facts, chasing things that are “good for your CV”. I wish someone guided me to learn to build much earlier.
Seeing a lot of European banks banning crypto purchases lately claiming it’s “for customer’s safety”, you can still send fiat from
@RevolutApp
to exchanges (or better yet you can buy directly in Revolut)

Whenever a VC General Partner is sending someone else on their team to a meeting with the CEO instead of going themselves, here are the thoughts in the CEO’s head:
- this non GP don’t have the power to write checks
- the GP doesn’t think this meeting is worth their time

I'm absolutely thrilled to share some incredibly exciting updates that we've been working hard on at Fuse. We are deeply committed to putting your needs at the forefront of everything we do. Today, I'm delighted to introduce some new features that will make managing your
This is something I am personally super excited about. This will kill a lot of predatory payday lending businesses. Flexible pay is the future. Sign up below (UK only now, ROW coming soon).
Why you should join Fuse 2.0
In 1 year and 2 months since launching we have got a lot done. We have built a renewable developer with a 300 MW pipeline of solar, wind, and hydrogen. We have built a prototype alkaline electrolyser with in-house engineering design (TRL 4), we have
This is such a close minded view. The best people I have worked with in the UK and mostly immigrants. Immigrants leave family/friends to a new country with nothing to seek a better life. It’s an incredible filter for grit.
We are changing this at
@get_fuse
. We are building a fully integrated renewable energy co (think renewable shell) from scratch (starting in the UK). Some of the things we are working on: building utility scale solar farms from scratch (electrical/civil engineering), solar
Met a British startup founder today who'd studied engineering at Oxford. He said the majority of his fellow students had since gone into finance or consulting. In effect there is a brain drain *within* the UK, as engineers emigrate to fields where they don't build anything.
One of the most important skill that unlocks your potential is to constantly ask yourself whether you are solving the right problems. Once you master it you will likely 10X yourself.
Recently stumbled upon this memo from Bear Stearns. This is so true. 100% of successful people I know was at one point PSD. What sets super successful from successful people apart is the former stopped being P but still SD, the latter stops being PD all together.
The best way to get into a top start up (unless you’re an engineer) is via customer service. It’s quite unbelievable so many fresh graduates are unwilling to do this, and think this is beneath them.

Hong Kong’s (similar population to London) Equivalent MTR makes 14% net profit margin, where fares are much cheaper, higher reliability, cleaner than the London tube system.
At
@get_fuse
, we deeply care about customer experience. Every non 4/5 star rating we do root cause analysis, and go line by line weekly by the product/engineering/ops team. Our trust pilot score is 4.6/5 so far, we will not stop until it’s 5/5.

T&C:
It’s quite simple. Anything more than the risk free rate (basically What you get from T bills) is not risk free. If a “defi protocol” is offering you “40% risk free”, think twice
What most people don’t realise is tech companies are all about the people. At the end of the day it’s just a group of people building to the same goals.

's 1st pitch deck (pre-Serie A of 2016)
"We need £1.5m to make it happen." Most of the rev to come from subs. Profitable in y.3.
Pitch decks mean nothing, teams' ability to adapt and execute - everything.

Remember the last time you needed to send £1m abroad?
Me neither, but I’m informed it’s an issue Europe’s tech workers encounter 👀

Introducing FX Forwards, our currency forward contracts! A world-first for FinTech apps, our FX Forwards feature lets businesses of any size get a fixed foreign exchange (FX) rate for a set amount and date in the future to manage your cash flow now.
The best training I ever received: when I was young whenever I tell my dad about an achievement he would tell me “only be happy for 5 minutes.” I resented him for this repetitive message for all my childhood. At

As a general rule of thumb, roles with more responsibility you would want to pay higher comp to attract the best talent. By definition, MPs have higher responsibility than private sector equivalent role e.g. CEO of a regional bank. We should therefore pay our civil servants
I see lots of people don’t appreciate the power of compounding in career building. It’s very tempting to switch companies to the next best offer, but every time you do that you will loose the compounding you’ve built. True career success is built in a decade.
@nonmayorpete
The challenge is to get unbiased honest interviews are difficult, almost all the time founders/employees do interviews with objective of promoting the company. Maybe you will get a less biased interview from early employees that have long left the company.
I think there is a strong negative correlation between how competent a company is vs how many critical business processes are done on excel. One of the things that convinced me to start an energy company is after I found out how common VBA was used as databases at incumbents.
How to blitzscale high growth tech co:
1/ Write down company goals
2/ Define key skill sets you need to acquire to achieve goals
3/ Ruthlessly Prioritise hiring based on impact
4/ Hire generalist Biz Ops to fill in the gaps in the meantime
I’ve been through several background checks and the experience is complete garbage. The screening analyst keep asking me who my current manager is… and keep asking me contact of my former manager (no way in hell I’m giving that away lol). I hope someone is disrupting this space
6 years into start up and it still blows my mind how much people care about titles. It’s probably the 2nd (sometimes 3rd) most important recruitment/motivational tool after compensation
@CryptoAnglio
UK has many problems, but you cannot pin this on the UK. This is more about that firms AML policy which they have discretion whether they accept crypto as source of funds. You will the same problem in other countries. Just tell your friend to try a different firm, or escalate to
Cheap and stable prices of water allow us to enjoy steak and hamburgers at cheap prices. In a world where we are fully renewable we will live in energy abundance & cheap energy - in fact I believe it will price similar to water. I believe there will be more new use cases of

A few things to address. 1) All card issuers make revenue on interchange (Revolut included 2) Revolut has very diversified revenues (with more product lines than banks e.g. subscriptions, crypto etc) 3) Revolut already has sustainable business model without raising fees.
NEW:

has raised a $120 million fund for investing in crypto startups. The notable thing, however, is one of its backers.
