8 years ago I sold all my $AAPL apple stock to grow my business.
I successfully sold the business 4 years later.
If I didn't sell the $AAPL stock I would have about the same amount of money...
Lesson - I don't need to start a business to make good money
I just spent 4k on Alibaba buying a machine for work. Seamless process and I was well protected from any issues. Saved 10k compared to western alternatives for the same machine. $BABA

Chinese companies are focussing on
- Returning capital to shareholders
- Improving margins
- Improving efficiency
Yet share prices continue to be weak…🤷♂️
Has anyone bought a private business? Wow it is a minefield.
Serial Acquirers have got through the minefield somehow. $TEQ $LIFCO $CSU $MMGR $INDT $JDG $SDI $KPG $TVK $VOLO $LAGR
The moat these businesses have is that they have survived past the first 5 acquisitions. Incredible
I'm fascinated with avoiding a Serial Acquirer Blow Up.
REQ Capital also discusses it. Here are some thoughts
Thanks
@oddbjorndybvad
again, making my way through your work. part 5 of 7. 🙏
I did 100 push ups a day in April.
What were my results?
- nothing
What did I learn?
- That I can do 100 push ups a day for a month.🤷♂️
Seems pointless but I do have a sense of achievement.
And a little more respect for anyone who can do things over and over again for years.
Should Serial Acquirers stay in a niche like,
$KPG 🇦🇺

$LAGR 🇸🇪

My friend
@JustinNoth
made a bet with me 5 years ago that Bitcoin would be a far better investment than $GOOG. I thought he was crazy😅.
Since then
$BTC 6x
$GOOG 2.5x
After reading, studying and analysing the future of each of these Serial Acquirers.
At the end of the day, it is still a guess. 🤷♂️
but less of a dart throw and more educated. 🤪
$TEQ Good Serial Acquirers build themselves on the premise of diversification.
Do you think every $BRK Berkshire Hathaway or $CSU Constellation Software business crushes it every quarter?
Risks - I can’t predict all the possible futures. I try to be extra conservative with multiples on companies that I think have higher risk. $BKHT joins the weekly email. Yes 32%pa...
Busy value investor? I am.

Packaging distributors are a great, sleepy business.
The best public business I have found in the space is $MACF Macfarlane Group PLC 🇬🇧
Also, personally looking at investing in a private business in enviro packaging.
Anyone with insights?
Serial Acquirers that buy a majority but not full ownership of a business makes sense.
Example, 80% investment and 20% stays with ongoing management.
Examples, $HEI, Roko
Any reasons why this is worse than buying 100%?
$SDI
- Weak results
- Long term thesis still ok? Maybe 🤷🏻♂️.
- Peak pessimism right now.
You either don't think this will work out or you think this is short term headwinds.
But saying 'scummy' management is just a cheap shot. You try run a business. Ups and downs are real.
3 Impressive Serial Acquirers that don't get any love.🤔
1. $VOLO Volati 🇸🇪 (
@PGWahlen
)

Why? Well 2-4x Cash flow deals exist. Plus it's super hard. Hard things are rewarding🤪.
Thoughts?
$V is still a beast. 🦍

Worth keeping an eye on, just in case the price gets interesting.
Tracking it starting tomorrow. here👉
"Do small, frequent deals. Build up best practices and get stronger at acquisitions."
I like this Serial Acquirer approach.
Maybe I'll one day build a serial acquirer... because right now it is all theory and I don't know what I don't know.
Here is my valuation work on $BKHT Brockhaus Technologies
Which I will track each week for free in
Explanation in video later this week

Australians🇦🇺think Bali is over rated and Ibiza is ultra cool.
Yet Europeans think Ibiza is over rated and Bali is ultra cool.
@CJ0pp3l
@wallstdanny
Growing franchise staffing business for daily workers with lots of runway and seemingly competent, highly incentivised management. This isn't my idea, it is Aaron's.
@aaronvalue
Mohnish Pabrai is my favorite investor. Hands down, the more I study him, the more I fall in love with. Mohnish, I will buy your lunch date when it is next available.
@MohnishPabrai
You either understand the big picture or you don’t.
You either trust management or you don’t.
You are either on the long term journey or you aren’t.
Whatever your opinions, don’t contribute or listen to the people throwing shade on X💩.
What Serial Acquirer of this high level should be added to this list?👉
Current spots
🇨🇦 Constellation Software $CSU

🇸🇪 Lifco $LIFCO
🇦🇺 Kelly Partners Group $KPG
🇨🇦 Terravest $TVK

Building a serial acquirers checklist. What am I missing?
1. Are they spending most of the operating cash flow into acquisitions?
2. Strong ROTIC?
3. Are they keeping diligent on shares outstanding? little dilution and disciplined with it?
4. all cash acquisitions?
My new metric.
Price/Free Cash Flow Available to Shareholders/Future Growth or P/FCFA2S/G.
It's like the PEG Ratio.
$CSU post strong 2020 results P/FCFA2S/G ratio ~ 1.2x
$CSU current P/FCFA2S/G ratio ~ 2.7x
I'll still continue to track it. It is the🐐
We all need to stop worrying about macro economics. Amazon and Apple powered through the GFC. Inflation, interest rates, upcoming stock market crashes - we are wasting our brain power. Great companies are great companies. Simple
