The World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence have published that Berbera Port is ranked as the highest-performing container port in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2023 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI). This assessment is based on the port's performance in terms of vessel time.
President Behi and Prime Minister Abiye discusses restoring the Ethiopian Government’s 19% share of Berbera Port; in return, Ethiopia will direct 30% of its port use to Berbera. Ethiopia is also looking for a naval base in Berbera in exchange for recognition.
A crucial visit
Somaliland experienced a devastating loss of $2 billion due to the Waaheen market fire in Hargeisa in April 2022, leaving the market in ruins. However, akin to a phoenix rising from the ashes, a modern market in Hargeysa is nearing completion, symbolizing resilience and recovery.

In 1972, Somalia sought to shut down four distinguished boarding schools in Dayaha, Odeeyne, Beer, and Qalax, aiming to prevent the education of Somalilanders. The plan was to repurpose these schools into orphanage centers for Ubaxa Kacaanka, commonly referred to as Faqash.
