@SamanthaStrudel That’s so hard to read Samantha. Don’t ever judge your success or worth by standards in academia. It’s a heartless field sometimes. Set goals that aren’t judged by outsiders. We believe in you. All of us do.

Most bullying research is on kids in schools, but that doesn't make it childish behavior. What are the settings where adults bully others the most?? ...shamelessly asking Twitter for help with brainstorming 🤓

@Maria_Scheel_ @academicvoices @PhDVoice I use a writing method inspired by a book I read on Japanese Ikigai philosophy. Work in small chunks of dedicated time (90 minutes?). It helps to meditate before you begin. Then stop and take a break. Repeat. Take a longer break. Etc.

Perhaps journals should have to let you submit elsewhere without pulling the paper if they make you wait this long.
@profsamperry
Samuel Perry

Proposal: If a journal takes longer than 1 year to render a decision on the 1st round of review, it's automatic R&R, bordering on conditional accept. There has NEVER in the history of peer review been comments of sufficient quality to justify 1 year of waiting for rejection.

We punish bullying among kids. We pretty much ignore it among adults. For adults, verbal abuse, rumor telling and passive aggression are legal and usually overlooked. Most physical altercations and sexual harassment cases likely go unreported as well.
