>Church is in decline.
>Church bemoans the lack of young people and involvement.
>Church wants to have real honest conversations about the future.
>Church ignores input from young people from conversations.
>Church decides they know the best way forward.
>Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
I keep thinking about he impact that churches could have if “Sunday School” was about helping tutor kids struggling with their education instead of depending on that time to be the primary spiritual formation for kids via poorly taught Bible stories.
The Kin ̶g̶dom of god is like a school lunchroom worker secretly refusing to throw away all the extra food at the end of the day so that others in their community can have full stomachs.
Y’all please pray. Someone stole a car a few streets over from an old friend and their 1 year old baby was in the car. It’s been almost three hours and they have not located them.
“That’s not the Holy Spirit you’re feeling, it’s just a chord progression. If you went to more concerts you would know this. You can have the same experience there.”
Hate to break it to you, but what do you think you are feeling at them concerts? It’s the Holy Spirit you dweeb.
How you going to believe a poor Palestinian Jew was brought back from the dead but lack the imagination necessary to believe in a world without wars and prisons?
One of the weirdest things that’s happened in a job interview was being treated like I may not be a good fit because I’m an enneagram four. Like, I get it’s a helpful tool but I’m not sure it should be given that kind of weight.
Christian’s desperately need to remember that our religion is inherently syncretic and diverse in nature. You don’t get to call something “pagan” just because it doesn’t line up with your western colonial understanding of Christianity.
Hey y’all, my brother has COVID. He has had a mild response to the sickness but has been in contact with family before showing symptoms. One of which is my mom who has pretty severe COPD so we are all kind of worried about it. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
So I’m officially being confirmed in the
@iamepiscopalian
church tomorrow. But If the heavens don’t open and I don’t see C.S. Lewis or at the very least some vision of Rowan Williams I’m considering it a total bust.
Some of y’all have never had to compromise core theological commitments to be able to safely participate in some semblance of a faith community and it shows.
"Every day I am afraid that Christ died for nothing because he is buried in our churches, because we have betrayed his revolution in our obedience to and fear of the authorities."
—Dorothee Sölle
“When a man strips another of his clothes, he is called a thief. Should not a man who has the power to clothe the naked but does not do so be called the same? “
-Saint Basil the Great (330–379 AD)
What is a seminary class if not a time to sit in frustration that a classmate has yet again monopolized the discussion by bitching about stuff that is irrelevant to the content of the class?
Folks get mad when you mention using Doritos for Eucharist (once!) because they have legit made themselves believe that the nasty dry ass wafer they use on Sundays is still actually “bread.”
The Church constantly bemoaning the decline of people in our communities while completely ignoring very clear and discernible common denominators for this is unbelievably exhausting.
Yo! A personal update: My pronouns are he/they. I don’t prefer one over the other. I also have no other commentary or care to explain anything at the moment, but thought I would let y’all beautiful folks know! ✌🏼
Reminder: During the month of October it’s a sin to refer to the third person of the Trinity as anything other than the Holy Ghost.
Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
Started working on a sticker design using the “Christ breaks the Rifle" wood cut print from by Otto Pankok from the 1950’s today. I really want this as a tattoo (minus the unfinished yellow)
What if, hear me out… The Magnificat is not only a proclamation of God’s work but also an invitation to struggle for justice alongside God? Why does it have to be an either or?
Shitty Appalachian folk music that hates the poor is out and good anti-capitalist eco-lament Appalachian music is in! What I’m trying to say is y’all should be obsessed with wife’s music.
My wife likes to take awful pictures of me mid-rant about Johnny Cash, the Bible, and why it’s not “fundamentalists” to tell the rich and oppressors that “Gods going to cut them down” If they don’t repent.
Y’all please pray. Someone stole a car a few streets over from an old friend and their 1 year old baby was in the car. It’s been almost three hours and they have not located them.

Start calling them selves anti-racist while still keeping black folks at a distance and doing nothing to actually engage with the realities of racism in their communities...
As someon who survived purity culture and works very hard to curate sex positive/pro-body ministry spaces can I ask that you PLEASE not call your horny and inappropriate theology takes as “sex positive”? Thanks.
Already broke my lenten fast by total accident. I mean, when a four year old chooses to share a Twix with you what are you supposed to do?
Promptly after inhaling the candy bar it hit me...
*My wife calls me from the thriftstore*
“I found this book by someone called Meister Eckhart and he sounds like some boring old person you like to read. Want me to get it?”
🤣
I’m going to be honest, I have a hard time caring about clergy burnout in general when in my experience some of the clergy I know (not on here) who have talked at length about it also made 300%+ my salary with a housing allowance while I worked 55hrs+ a week and lived in a camper
The Methodist stay using King’s Hawaiian bread for communion and for that they are automatically immune to the Eucharist discourse on this hell site. They already won the war y’all.
Wow! Unfollowing now! I knew he was a charismatic leader who used charged language and made extreme demands of his followers so that they could learn to resist empire and love their neighbors, but I didn’t know that he was a bad example of being a good citizen.
"How can I make you realize the misery of the poor? How can I make you understand that your wealth comes from their weeping?"
-Basil of Caesarea, 330-370 A.D.
Creating “unity” in the church between oppressors and the oppressed is not the project of the Spirit of God. The refusal to dismantle these hierarchies while still calling us to be “one” is the gospel of Empire and not the one given to the ekklesia of God.
Is today somehow the first time anglican/Catholic twitter has heard that not everyone in the church practices their particular sacramentology? These folks seems genuinely shocked that they don’t have a monopoly on the faith.
“But I am sure that God did not intend that there be so many poor. The class structure is of our making and our consent, not His. It is the way we have arranged it, and it is up to us to change it. So we are urging revolutionary change.”
-Dorothy Day
We have had more than 500 doses of naloxone be distributed in the last week through these two new locations. I’m not sure how we will keep up with the need. Please remember our work in your prayers. The state is being stingy with their supply and this stuff ain’t cheap.
Them: How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
Me: You mean that sad little Empire of paltry gods that was made into a mockery by a backwoods Palestinian Jewish carpenter? Everyday. Every single day.
Sometimes being a church worker feels like being on the titanic and having to attempt to convince folks why rearranging the deck chairs ain’t helping stop the sinking.
