Lyse's only "good reason" is that her design is an issue, i.e. she should look like she's from Ala Mhigo; however, neither she nor the Stormblood narrative fit the parameters of the white savior trope. She's just white when she "shouldn't" be, which is an important distinction.

I understand why Solution Nine feels out of place for some people, but this game has been leaning pretty heavily on science fiction for its fantasy writing and aesthetics since at least ARR. That's a large part of the distinct flavor and technical depth of the world and story.

To clarify, the white savior trope is more specific than "white character saves people of color." These stories are born of and reinforce colonialism; they centralize things like culture, morality, intelligence and and skill as identifiably white, "othering" people of color.
