@Witts_Art
Yup, people took "not the absolute best sword ever" and turned it into "inferior piece of junk", just because they got too annoyed by the hype and over-corrected way too hard.
That hype made me underestimate Japanese swords too, 10 years ago, although I never took it that far.
I'm not trying to vilify AI as a tool, but here's my concern about AI art:
It's industrialized plagiarism.
Artists put time and effort into developing skills to create something, which is data-mined to flood the market with derivatives that out-compete them with sheer quantity.
So AI art... Clearly a topic that many people have strong feelings & disagreements about. Tools can be used for good or ill.
Boiled down, this is my issue: Art is a human expression rooted in experiences and emotions. Algorithms have no soul and create derivatives of said art.
@vanishlily
If there's magic that can resurrect the dead, animate objects, and heal wounds... why would there be disabilities?
Even if they can't heal spinal injuries and whatnot, some form of magical levitation is usually a thing.
Then again, fantasy doesn't have to make sense. *shrug*
The more I look into the current state of AI art the uglier it gets...
The list of artists that Midjourney data mined without their consent is VERY long.
By the way, until AI becomes self-aware and has emotions this is not comparable to artists taking inspirations from others.
To anyone saying AI art is a tool for disabled artists, I want yall to know that MY WORK IS A PROMPT IN MIDJOURNEY. "Sara Winters" is on this list. I- a BLIND ARTIST- am being directly stolen from. I am blind and I create, not extrapolate.
Think on that for a moment.
@CerberusXt
Oh no, fiddling with AI software is so much work... Compared to actually drawing it yourself? Yeah, nah.
The only reason AI is able to generate anything is because a whole of artwork made by real people was fed into it. Most of it copyrighted, and that's the actual problem.
So, uh... can someone explain to me why companies pulling ads from a platform is "anti free speech"?
Businesses making decisions on where to spend their money is not pro or anti free speech, it's just capitalism.
Same as people choosing not to support a business or person btw.
@Osiasart
Don't you love when people are confidently, arrogantly wrong?
That guy was acting like everyone "knows" Vikings used nothing but axes (probably horned helmets too), and it's ridiculous to suggest they used spears as well.
@ironmouse
Hey, I didn't do nuthin'... you walked right into it!
Next time before you approach some weirdo with a sword, might want to get one of these. ;)
@InternetH0F
Wait, I thought it's IMPOSSIBLE to raise workers' income without raising the prices astronomically?
Strange how forcing corpos to pay livable wages through law makes them suddenly able to do it.
And no, Denmark's income tax is not exceptionally high for the low to mid brackets.
@ask_aubry
Watch out... you're going to have some zealous Shad fans come after you for daring to question a grown man angrily ranting about a Barbie movie. Because apparently that's SERIOUS BUSINESS. :D
@sith_art
Why are people being prideful with "their" art when it's not theirs, and bragging about how little time and effort it took? I'm so confused...
@vanishlily
Yep, that's an archer build. Almost everyone draws female archers as skinny super models, but 120+ lb draw weights require considerable strength. You can even tell who the longbowmen were by looking at their skeletons. :)
So many Youtube channels are not getting the views they used to. I know the frustration all too well. But is it really just the algorithm?
There is such an ocean of content now... Even niche topics have more channels than ever. And we've done so much already.
What do you think?
@shadmbrooks
@ask_aubry
"NPC"? So you have main character syndrome now?
Alright, before we derail into petty mud slinging, let me just say this: You can't have it both ways. If you want to play the "culture war" game for clicks, you can't go surprised Pikachu face when you alienate people with that.
@shadmbrooks
Not being able to enjoy someone's content because of their abrasive attitude has nothing to do with intolerance.
I've never mentioned this in a video *out of respect* for a fellow creator, and because I have zero interest in starting drama for views (or for any other reason).
@CerberusXt
Hot take indeed, and it's only going to get hotter in the coming years and centuries. Giant scrotal bird is totally worth it though, wouldn't you say?
@shadmbrooks
@ask_aubry
This is getting silly, so last reply: Nobody is forcing you into some kind of closet. Nobody is limiting your freedom of speech. But people are also free to watch who/what they want, and voice their opinion.
I keep politics out of my channel. So "hypocritical", eh?
@shadmbrooks
I freely admit I had a bad day yesterday, and I posted that original comment impulsively, in a moment of irritation.
But responding with a child-like temper tantrum is not a good look either. Time to move on... I have neither the time nor the inclination to stir Twitter drama.
Let's play a game...
Tomorrow's video will feature this picture. What's your most creative guess for why?
Hint: It's not about pitchforks. But it is about a historical weapon. :)
@vanishlily
I think using AI art to transform or enhance basic sketches or even full lineart you create is perfectly legitimate. Generating imagines from scratch is too, as long as the AI wasn't trained on copyrighted material, and as long as people don't claim they drew it themselves.
Maybe it's just my novelty-chasing brain, but you know what was special about gaming in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s? Experiencing something new.
At this point I've played so many games I keep seeing the same patterns over and over. Same forms of gameplay, same stories, same visuals.
@thirdphp
No contest. Homelander is a spoiled brat, Omniman is a military veteran from a warrior culture.
Not to mention Omniman has demonstrated his ability to destroy entire civilizations single-handedly, while Homelander bullies regular humans and struggles against low-tier powers.
@ClaireMax
Ah yes, the old "you're so smart, you're just lazy... pay attention!". Yeah, just focus... just fix that neurotransmitter imbalance with sheer willpower, how hard could that be?
So Twitter is telling me that two-factor authentication will be for Twitter Blue accounts only (turning the most basic feature into a paid premium option, nice). If I don't disable it by a certain time I lose access. But when I try to disable it I get an error.
Cool beans.
@severian22
Yes, and I also have a problem with corpos exploiting artists by raking in the profits without compensating the creators appropriately. It's appalling how poorly writers have been treated for instance.
@ironmouse
Something you totally need. Literal IRON mouse armor!
Not real by the way. Well... not historical, that is. I've seen pictures of mouse, rat, and cat armor made of steel... presumably by people with too much time (and plenty of skill).
@pureMetatron
Yep, and it's important to realize that everyone does this to some extent. People try to insist that it's those with different views who try to "indoctrinate", but the entire political spectrum does it. Some individuals are guiltier than others, but humans love their tribalism.
@H4nsSprungfeld
That's the point though... it's not censorship. Withholding financial support is not the same as censoring.
And how would you know that it's about opinions "they" don't like, as opposed to PR management (i.e. not wanting to be associated with a platform for what it's pushing)?
Alright, I did it... joined the dark side after all. 👿
Youtube has been a frustrating uphill battle for quite a while, so it's good to get into alternatives as well. What's the most successful alternative currently? TikTok... 😓
@lazer_groove
Have you heard of Phineas Gage?
The human body is weird... we can survive horrible injuries, but also succumb to seemingly minor ones. Either way, this is unlikely to even render someone unconscious, especially if they're fueled by adrenaline.
So, uh... let me get this straight:
Having dinner with your wife = effeminate
Literally paying for the company of women = dominant hyper-masculine
Alright, parody is dead... made entirely obsolete by real life. How could you possibly parody such a lobotomized take?
@LindaLithen
Yes. All this art theft software is infiltrating everything. So many times you're like "that looks interesting... uh, wait...". Seems good at first glance, but then you see the telltale visual glitches and know it's derivative visual spam.
@CerberusXt
Those both look strange to me... not a fan of attempts to make everything hyper realistic but end up deep in Uncanny Valley territory.
Anyway, there are real-life female martial artists, powerlifters, and other athletes with sturdy builds and strong jawlines.
@CenturiiC
Heh, I prefer the gothy version, but that contrast is great. And it's debatable whether that's really any more garish than real historical Landsknecht outfits. 😆
@s8nstan
There is no "too nice". If you ended up in a bad situation that's not because you were nice but because someone else was being an asshole. If you decide to be an asshole to not be taken advantage of then you become the one taking advantage of someone else.
@FluteOfAzathoth
Please fact check before making such statements. There is no "long standing friendship". We don't know each other IRL, have never met or talked face to face.
I have concerns about whether AI art is ethically sourced value the time & effort that people put into art. That's all.
@AnubisTheMaster
@CerberusXt
Other artists taking inspiration from previous work is very different from feeding artwork into an algorithm that generates derivatives. It also involves less actual work.
@ironmouse
Hey
@ironmouse
, are you still open to having me on sometime? I appreciated the invitation and really like the idea. I sent you a few messages, but I know you're busy, and I can only imagine your inbox must be crazy full.
@creativekeith1
@FandomMenaceLs_
"Treating people like they are toxic - like you might catch something by watching their videos" Nobody does that. Okay, maybe some people do...
I can pick what I watch according to my taste, yes? Or is that unhealthy in some way?
I screwed up when setting the scheduled publishing of this video... it was supposed to go public on Friday at 2pm, not in the middle of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. >_< Oh well...
Well, here's a tricky situation... I got an email telling me that was hacked, and that they moved to . Now the problem is, how do I verify that? There is no information elsewhere, and either of them could potentially be fake now.
Had an interesting chat with Matt Easton
@scholagladiato1
in this video about sword damage in history. You might be surprised by some of the observations.
