I want to talk to this point. I don't think people have realized that games where you make your own charts well beyond the scope of the original game are literally dangerous. Official music games are made specifically so you don't get RSIs if you're playing them correctly. (1/?)

In nerd circles there's always a momma's boy, a crazy "follow my rules or I'll lose it", etc. It might be exaggerated, and I don't like how it's niche humor, but it does hit its target very well.

2 years ago, I first played Synchronica because it looked really cool. 1 year ago, I loved it. 6 months ago, offline service ended. I met some players online on Twitter back then, but today, I met Takepomu-san in Akihabara to mutliplay for the first time!

Oh, and finally... Pain is pain. Pain often means stop. Muscle fatigue is one thing, but you need to listen to your body. And don't take meds to cover that pain just to continue making it worse. Your wrists are not going to heal from NSAIDs.

If we're at the point where people are debating on abusing medication to grind a leaderboard, the community should consider an upper limit for ranking criteria. This is a hot take, but the average age of the community is too young to know they are doing irreversible damage.

But we already see this in BS ! People use their wrists almost exclusively in high-level charting as a result of leaderboard grinding. That range of motion is terrible to repeat on your wrist at that speed. That's why people take anti-inflammatories to heal after playing.

BS/osu in particular are very very bad about this because the community is consistently trying to push the game and players to new limits, yet there was never any safety designed. The goal in Beat Saber is to "swing with the biggest angle" for scoring, yet the goal is to go fast.

VR in particular has no resistance to your movements -- there's no controller to absorb your movements or to help you spring back on, so your body needs to do it instead. There's a way to minimize this, but not if you keep pushing the limits of speed.

Round 1 SCG closed today, permanently. I've made a lot of friends here. I've made a lot of connections. The people I've met here have changed the direction of my life. It's heartbreaking to see it close. The past 5 years of my life have involved this arcade.

Compare that to the happy hardcore song Satellite by Darren Styles. They are simply different. FD and GC are more artcore than HHC, but it grabs HHC vibes/4-chord.

Multiplay was incredibly fun. I've never heard "Full Multi Combo" from the game before. And we're similar skill levels (though I think I need to practice a bit more)! I hope to meet more Synchronica players as I visit Japan... I'm so happy I was able to meet Takepomu-san!
