Every politician says New York is the greatest city in the world. But what good is that if no one can afford to live here?
I'm running for Mayor to lower the cost of living for working class New Yorkers.
Join the fight.
Together, the city councils of NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, Seattle & Portland have 147 seats.
Democrats hold 134. Republicans hold 5.
Democrats could rein in our most violent cops without even looking at a Republican.
But they're not fighting police violence. They're funding it.
Jacob Blake was shot in the back 7 times by law enforcement. As we wish for his speedy recovery, Democrats stand with all those calling for justice and accountability in policing. We will continue fighting to end police violence.
When a house is burning down, firefighters don’t ask about coverage. They put out the fire.
Why don’t we approach our health care system in the same way?
Let’s
#PassNYHealthAct
& finally give all NYers* universal healthcare.
*even those with mustaches.
I was invited to an event last night where
@RepJeffries
was the chief guest.
I was given the speaking slot immediately before him.
This is how I ended my remarks.
Ceasefire now.
Last Nov, there was a ballot referendum that would’ve created a more favorable redistricting map for Dems
Republicans spent $3M to defeat it & did a statewide tour. Jay Jacobs’ NYS Dems spent $0 on it
The referendum lost & now NY could cost Democrats the House
Fire Jay Jacobs
We won.
On our 15th day of hunger strike, we got word that
@NYTWA
has reached an agreement with the City.
This amazing news means our drivers can live a future free of the devastation of the debt crisis.
Tonight, I was arrested with 100+ Jewish NYers from

@IfNotNowOrg
calling on Sen. Schumer to publicly support a ceasefire in Gaza.
As the war drum beats across the US & Palestinians continue to be killed indiscriminately, now is the time to stand up.
This is a voicemail I received.
It's a result of our President, Governor, Mayor, and my colleagues consistently dehumanizing Palestinians.
If you believe Palestinians aren't worthy of life, don't be surprised when people apply your logic to anyone they associate with Palestine.
We've now been been on hunger strike here in Washington DC for four days.
Four days without any food.
Four days of just water, gatorade, and coconut water.
Four days of sitting outside of the White House in the cold, calling on Pres. Biden to support a permanent ceasefire.
We’ll have to wait to see if our lead holds.
But to be leading even amidst a global pandemic makes it clear: another world really is possible.
Together, we can tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor, defund the police & build a socialist New York.
Solidarity forever.
The logic of our budget:
When someone takes $5.50 from the MTA, they're labeled a repeat offender. But when someone takes more than $1 billion from working-class people to build an NFL stadium, we call them the Governor.
I vote no on public subsidies for the Bills stadium.
Hard to believe this is real.

@BernieSanders

Bernie spent his life carrying a flickering torch for a world beyond capitalism. In its final chapter, he helped reignite that vision for a new generation.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe another world is still possible.
Watching
@AOC
now, I still believe
Mayor Adams is trying to bring the horrors of Kent State to NYC.
This is dangerous and reckless. The focus must be on de-escalation and protecting these students’ lives.
NEW -
@NYCMayor
says Columbia protest has been "co-opted" and is going to share their intel, he says at 1 Police Plaza. He advises students involved in the protest to leave the area and tells parents to tell their kids to leave "before the situation escalates."
I’m 53 hrs into this hunger strike.
53 hrs of a headache that never leaves, breathlessness from climbing a single flight of stairs, & pangs of hunger at the mere thought of food.
But we’ll continue until we get a city-backed guarantee for our taxi drivers.
As long as it takes.
Freeze the fare at $2.75.
6 minute train service.
20% more bus service.
Free buses over the next 4 years.
Without you, these are just demands.
With you, this is our future.
Join us at and let’s start organizing to
#FixTheMTA
Every single one of my constituents that has written to me about Palestine has supported my call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions on Israel.
Every single one.
The tide is turning. The fight for justice is here. The moment is now.
And there’s always room for you to join.
After at least 2,251 Palestinians were killed over the course of July 2014, Hakeem Jeffries got on stage at a rally in NYC and paraphrased George Wallace.
“Israel today, Israel tomorrow, Israel forever.”
If Jeffries is considered a progressive, the term has lost all meaning.
In 2018, I came up to you after a Dem club meeting and asked why you wouldn’t cosponsor Betty McCollum’s HR 4391.
This would ban the use of US aid to support the military detention of Palestinian children.
You told me, “children can be terrorists too.”
Quite the progressive.
I would happily put my progressive record and credentials up against anyone’s. It is both wrong and self-defeating for progressive leaders to abide such an offensive litmus tests.
What happened tonight wasn't a failure to de-escalate. It was a failure to defund.
The City is preparing gut health & education spending while leaving a bloated NYPD budget virtually untouched.
The failure of leadership is in the City Council.
Tonight, and every night before.
Why is it that when it comes to letting Israel kill Palestinian children with impunity, the same people demanding the harshest application of the law for student protesters are insisting that the United States government break it?
It's official: we won.
I'm going to Albany to fight to tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor & build a socialist New York.
But I can't do it alone. To win socialism, we'll need a mass movement of the multiracial working class as well.
So let's build one. Join
@nycDSA
.
We're still at the BoE waiting for them to officially scan the ballots, but the absentee count in our race is over.
And based on our internal tally, we finished ahead by over 300 votes - more than enough to avoid a recount & ensure our victory.
Socialism won.
Twitter, I need your help.
Today, NYC launched its historic taxi medallion debt relief program—could erase $100M+ of debt.
BUT the City has set 9/30 as the app deadline for drivers w/ loans from Marblegate—largest lender.
That’s in just 11 days.
Can you RT to spread the word?
Over 10,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.
I joined 500 Jewish New Yorkers and allies today at the Statue of Liberty for a sit-in to demand a ceasefire.

The ACLU calls the NYPD Strategic Response Group a “notoriously violent rapid response unit”
But that’s who Columbia University President Shafik called to come to campus—deployed to arrest students for the crime of peacefully protesting against genocide
Shameful & unacceptable
3 yrs ago, I applied for my citizenship.
3 days ago, I lined up to vote in my first presidential election.
& in 3 months, I’ll be Astoria’s next Assemblymember.
Much love to every person that made this happen. Alone, I’m just an individual. With you, I’m part of a movement. 🌹

This is class war. Every council member who caves is complicit.
@CoreyinNYC

There’s a right to peacefully protest but there are also rules that must be followed when you’re on university grounds. Suspending & arresting activists who violate multiple university codes is actually a normal & necessary part of the process that is integral to keeping a safe

Today is the 12th day of our hunger strike.
271 hours without food.
To commemorate this moment, I read from Doug Schifter’s last words before he took his life bc of this crisis.
They broke my heart.
We strike in honor of his memory & in honor of the drivers still with us.
TW: Suicide
On day 4 of our hunger strike, I remember Douglas Schifter
He died by suicide outside of City Hall
He was 61 and had been driving for 44 years
He went from driving 40 hrs/wk and making a living wage to 120 hrs/wk and making $4/hr after the entrance of Uber
1/6
Ahead of her Israel trip, Gov. Hochul acknowledges strike that reportedly killed 500 people at a Gaza hospital:
"Israel has a right to defend itself against Hamas. We also have to make sure that civilians get humanitarian aid and lament the loss of life" of innocent civilians.
Today is my first day as the Assemblymember for NY's 36th AD.
To hold this position is the honor of my life & I hold it because of you. You believed in a future where dignity is for the many, not just the few.
Together, that's the future we're going to win.🌹
Every year, charities registered in New York State send $60m+ in tax-deductible donations to aid & abet Israeli settler violence.
Today, we’re launching legislation to ban that.
Tell your legislator to join the fight: (🧵)
There is a proposal before your administration to approve new fracked gas infrastructure in my district - will you reject it?
There is legislation to end the $1.6B/year New York doles out in fossil fuel subsidies - will you support it?
It really is now or never.
Act like it.
The sky is orange over California. Half a million acres are burning.
This is what climate change looks like. The proof is right in front of us.
This is a national emergency — it's now or never.
two guys just got on my train car and announced “ladies and gentlemen, I want to let you know that this train is not actually going downtown”
people look up from their phones

People often ask what socialists mean when we say we want to "decommodify" housing.
Basically, we want to move away from a situation where most people access housing by purchasing it on the market & toward a situation where the state guarantees high-quality housing to all. (1/8)
After 9/11,
@MikeBloomberg
undertook a massive, illegal spying program targeting Muslim New Yorkers.
Astoria was an epicenter of surveillance. I met constituents this year still traumatized by it.
Bloomberg got to speak at the DNC this year thanks to erasure just like this 👇🏾
Overall, Americans took 9/11 pretty calmly. Notably, there wasn't a mass outbreak of anti-Muslim sentiment and violence, which could all too easily have happened. And while GW Bush was a terrible president, to his credit he tried to calm prejudice, not feed it 2/
260+ Palestinian kids have been killed in the last day
Israel’s cut off food, water & electricity to 2M people in Gaza, calling them “human animals”
And this is the Governor’s answer to Palestinian NYers fearing for family? That humanity only exists for one people?
Disgusting.
"I call on law-abiding Palestinians to reject Hamas," is Hochul's message to Palestinian New Yorkers who fear for their loved one in Gaza as Israel promises a complete siege that is already worsening the humanitarian crisis there. "Israel has the right to defend itself," she adds
This is shameful.
At the same convention where our platform states, ‘we will speak and act with clarity and purpose on behalf of human rights wherever they are under threat,’ the DNC has denied Palestinian-Americans the platform to follow through on those very words.
Making buses free will make them safer, faster and universally accessible—all while providing relief to working-class NYers.
That’s why it’s a key part of our plan to

And it’s within reach—go to and ask your state rep to support the package
On Gay Marriage: “I would certainly advocate against that. I think that is a tremendous mistake”
On Abortion: “I am pro-life”
On Jews: “Snotty-nosed” “bloodsuckers”
This is who is running vs.
@JabariBrisport
This is who Eric Adams & Jay Jacobs endorsed
Eric Adams was mandated to build 20 miles of bus lanes in 2022. He built 12.9 miles.
The law then required him to build 30 miles of bus lanes in 2023. He built 7.8.
How can he call himself a law and order mayor, when New Yorkers can’t trust him to follow the law?
A 30% increase in ridership on weekdays.
A 38% increase in ridership on weekends.
A 38.9% reduction in assaults on bus operators.
@SenGianaris
and I write in
@thenation
about the successes of the fare-free bus pilot.
NOW: I’m with
@jvpliveNY
blocking the entrance of the New York Stock Exchange.
As Israel escalates its genocide against Palestinians and pushes the region toward all-out war, the largest weapons producers are making record profits.
Gov. Hochul's about-face on Congestion Pricing is why people don't trust politicians.
This will hurt millions of New Yorkers who rely on public transit and is political malpractice of the highest order.
I am not going to tell my constituents that the elevator the MTA is installing at Steinway St won’t happen because the Governor got cold feet from seeing her own shadow.
She has changed her mind once, now she must do it again.
2 min later, he came back out
“I just didn’t have the heart to order”
He shared a smile with us, & went to get coffee somewhere else
Solidarity may not be everyone’s first instinct, but it’s up to us to pose the question. You never know what someone’s answer may end up being🌹
Details of the agreement:
- A city-backed taxi medallion guarantee
- $170,000 maximum debt
- 5% interest rate
- payments of ~$1100/month
For the avg driver that is currently $550k in debt, this changes everything.
3000+ NYers marched to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s office to demand she call for a ceasefire.
As Americans, we aren’t just observers in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza: we are complicit. We must make it clear that NYers don’t stand for funding war crimes.
A man tried crossing the

The liberal press: "If these swivel-eyed socialists get into office with cockamamy schemes for commercial rent control & access to public financing, you can kiss New York's small businesses goodbye! Good thing sensible, pro-business adults are in charge."
Also the liberal press:
We cannot get to the hopeful world that Diwali symbolizes if we do not stand up for its values.
My statement on refusing the Governor’s invitation to her Diwali celebration later today:
Today, my colleagues and I visited Rikers.
There we witnessed a crisis of mass incarceration.
Incarcerated people without access to toilets, basic medical care, or legal representation.
This crisis is one of our own making.
We must decarcerate now.🧵
A woman riding a CitiBike two blocks from my office was just killed by a turning cement truck.
Absolutely heartbreaking.
I don’t know her name & her family likely doesn’t even know that she’s dead.
All I know is that she’s the 4th cyclist to be killed in Astoria in 2.5 yrs.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo won’t allow New York City to close non-essential businesses in nine hot spots, an abrupt decision that pre-empted Mayor Bill de Blasio's plans after spikes in coronavirus cases in some neighborhoods.
This is the same Tiffany that I’ve been knocking on doors for since 2019,

Together, we can tax the rich, heal the sick, house the poor & build a socialist New York.
But only if we build a movement of the multiracial working class to stand up to those who want to stop us.
We built one on this campaign. Now let's take it to Albany.
Solidarity forever.
Last night,
@DemSocialists
candidates won in diverse communities across the country.
The Democratic establishment takes these communities for granted. We don't.
They don't organize in them. We do.
And we won’t stop until the working class prevails.
Fred Hampton believed in Black liberation, socialist revolution, and solidarity with the poor, the workers, and the colonized around the world.
So must we. Rest in power.
This cop was suspended for using his equipment for political purposes.
We need to make people see using cops to respond to poverty, homelessness & mental health issues is also done for political purposes - disciplining the poor & people of color.
And merits the same response.
