The SPC folks confirmed the line of storms this morning met the threshold of a derecho. Good reminder that not all derechos are Aug. 2020 or Dec. 2021.

Not all derechos are the same - the definition is a windstorm that produces 58 mph winds, frequent gusts to 75 mph, and travels at least 400 miles. The storm system that moved through eastern Iowa Friday morning met that criteria, but a far cry from 8/10/2020 (THANKFULLY). #iawx
