A FITTING FAREWELL
A group of YDB teachers had a 'farewell kick-about' with Mr Mark Hughes before he leaves the school at the end of the week. Mr Hughes has been teaching at YDB for 25 years and he is going to be greatly missed by us all.
7A have been showing love and support for Wrexham AFC owners, Ryan and Rob and all the good work they are doing for their hometown. They have all written letters and came in sporting their Wrexham tops.

On Saturday 12th November, 54 pupils from Ysgol Dinas Brân visited the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to watch Wales beat Argentina in the rugby. It was a very exciting day for all.
Right now the Year 7 Girls Football Team are having a Q & A with Wales players Rhiannon Roberts, Elise Hughes and Maria Francis-Jones. Diolch ladies for a fantastic session.

The students at Ysgol Dinas Bran are delighted that our MP Susan Elan Jones has raised our petition in Parliament to abolish non essential single use-plastics in all UK schools by the end of 2019 and the banning of Styrofoam from all UK schools immediately.
Last week our year 9 student Luis Gardner represented Wales U15s in a Football tournament in Croatia. Luis played 3 times whilst out in Croatia.
Luis, everyone at YDB are proud of your achievement and we are looking forward to you representing Wales on many more occasions.
Congratulations to the Year 10's on their fantastic effort to make the Xmas fayre a success. They have already raised £663.06 which is a massive achievement and l know Hope House will be so grateful to receive a cheque in the New Year.

GOLFING FOR GLORY
Year 10 student Henry Evans won his first competition at the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club last Saturday, June 19th. The 15-year-old beat a field of over 120 male golfers (including Mr Griffiths!) to claim the prestigious Hand Vase. Well done Henry.
James Rainbird,Evan Parry,Henry Evans and Charlie Parkinson represented Denbighshire in the national school boys semi final in Cardiff yesterday and they won 6-3 and are through to the final. It is a wonderful achievement and hopefully they can go on and win it now!!
Congratulations to Lexi Jones of Year 10 who represented Wales U'15 in a recent Bob Docherty tournament. Lexi has earned 3 full Welsh caps playing against England and Scotland. Lexi will receive her cap in a presentation ceremony this Saturday in Cardiff, fantastic achievement.

There were scenes of happiness at Ysgol Dinas Brân today as 6th Form students celebrated receiving their exam results.
Results are excellent, with early indications that nearly all have achieved their first choice in the next step of their career pathway.
Congratulations to Lewis Hurdsman (Year 8) who has just become Welsh Youth Champion (Trials Biking) for the second time. This adds to Lewis's very impressive long list of titles . Lewis has been riding trials bikes since the age of 4. Well done Lewis.

We held our sports day last Friday and the pupils and staff had a wonderful day. The pupils enjoyed so many new and different activities and the day was a huge success.

Once again, there were scenes of great joy at Ysgol Dinas Brân as the Year 11s received their results. There were many students with happy faces having achieved their grades and now excited for their future and next steps in their education.

Students Daisy Sands, Abi Davies (Year 12 ) Georgina Susanthan and Bethany Sands (Year 7) accompanied by Mrs Gardner, attended an Eco Workshop at Glyndwr University yesterday. This was part of a festival events linked to the theme of "One Planet Picnic".
The school is closed for today due to site safety, transport issues and unpredictable weather conditions. We will assess the situation over the next 24 hours and will keep you informed via text and website.

Today our amazing catering staff have done the school proud by producing an amazing array of food fit for Royalty to celebrate the Royal Wedding tomorrow. Students had a fabulous choice and got to enjoy their lunch in a street party atmosphere with music and bunting too.

We held a BBQ for Year 13 on Friday as it was officially their last day before exams started.

Massive congratulations to Iwan Morris who won the North East Wales 1500 m and has now qualified to represent North East Wales in the Welsh Athletics Championships in July.

Llyr Grufydd AM visited YDB as part of our "Go Green" week. He visited Year 7, who were researching renewables and watched a presentation on the exemplar installation of retro fitting solar panels, LED lighting and other energy saving devices across school.

Well, what an experience our school football teams have had today. We spent the morning with Rob Page where he gave our year 10 team a coaching session and then spent time with all the teams from year 7 to sixth form where he presented to them on his experiences in football and

Today, pupils in years 7,8 and 9 were given a presentation by BBC journalist Iolo Cheung. Iolo spoke with the pupils about his career as a journalist, the experiences he has received throughout his career and how speaking Welsh has benefited him.
Congratulations to the students that have achieved the Bronze Achievement Award. They have displayed outstanding effort and commitment across several areas.

Our outstanding student's success was celebrated with an evening ceremony attended by parents and staff alike. An inspirational talk from guest speaker Mr Martyn Froggett opened the event. Congratulations to each and every student who received an award.
