Somehow my flatmates have spent £2500 each on an all inclusive resort in Türkiye for a week. That's £357/day. They claim this is worth it because of how much alcohol they will have... but that means they will need like 47 cocktails a day to make their money's worth!
✅ Station 140: Headbolt Lane
The newest (?) station on the Merseyrail Network and the only one completely unelectrified because of the new ban on third rail. The 777s were made as BPMUs for this exact reason 😁
✅ Station 134: West Kirkby
Pretty station. Accidentally walked into an unmarked staff room, used their bathroom and got scolded by a Network Rail engineer 🔥
Put up a staff only sign outside the wide open door next time 😭
🏆 WE'VE ARRIVED!!!
After eight gruelling hours, I have finally stepped foot onto the platforms of Beeston Station. This is sure a monumental step in not just my Cycle The Month campaign, but also my broader cycling career.
God I'm so exhausted 😂
🚂 60532 A4 "Blue Peter", at Newark Northgate, 20 minutes early
So many people were bowled by the IET. Only two people got a shot, and I was one of them!
✅ Station 131: Manor Road
Is it just a common theme across all railways that a station with manor in the name is in terrible disrepair.
It's a confusing station within the catchment of Hoylake on the same line.
As I promised, I cycled 15mi to Swinderby today, across NCR-64. I'm serious about completing Cycle the Month, and hope you all can join me in this effort!
For those of you who aren't aware

✅ Station 173: East Midlands Parkway
A sleek station by a power plant, towering over it.
The station is meant to serve East Midlands Airport, but there are no bus or pedestrian connections from what I can tell. I'm honestly suprised there's no
@trentbartonland
skylink 😅
✅ Station 179: Custom House
A weirdly laid out station with a confusing DLR interchange. The architecture is paler than me after applying suncream. Overall, mehhh
✅ Station 175: Lichfield Trent Valley
Where the West Coast Mainline meets the Cross-City Line terminus. A station which admittedly lacks amenities (thanks Sunday), but is very cool for train spotting!
✅ Station 177: Wimbedon
A decent sized station with ludicrously frequent services. Although, the tram integration feels clunky and confusing.
📸
@bezz_da
, who was with me at the time.
✅ Station 92: Brigg
For a thriving (and very pretty) market town and station, it's really sad to see only one service a day. I would expect a once every 2hrs at the minimum, personally.
Hopefully
@IBLRG
can help get the area the love it greatly deserves!
✅ Station 193: Redditch
10/10: Great ticket office opening times, no drunk people on the platform, tons of fast moving trains to veg and amazing TVMs. What else could you ask for?
(oh wait, we're talking about Redditch? I thought you said Newark Northgate! I take it back then)
Okay I don't usually post serious stuff onto my main account, but I think it's important this time.
Over time, UberEATS has been messing over their customers, restaurants, and riders to the point that the app is outright predatory.
✅ Station 188: Hinkley
A small town near Leicester. I'm not going to lie, I only checked this off as I missed my bus connection to Lutterworth from Leicester so I had to come here instead 🤣
✅ Station 143: Stockport
A major station operated by Avanti on the WCML, just before the ascent into Manchester Picadilly. A very cool station, although I didn't get much time there as
@Joe_Dodman
is a simp.
🚂 Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway
Just had a great time doing a return on the CCLR. Great little journey and really affordable. Friendly staff too. Would recommend if you end up in Cleethorpes.
Time for a pint at the signal box!
✅ Station 116: Collingham
A quaint station in a small village in Nottinghamshire, on the castle line.
My only question is, why is a
@lincscoop
the largest store in a Nottinghamshire village? Good food though, so I'm not complaining 😅
I managed to travel to four countries for little over £400 over the span of a week, including flights, coaches, hostels and food. I went to Lidl or a local pub if I wanted alcohol. I can't compute spending that much on a sunbed and booze!
✅ Station 129: Moreton
[Insert toe joke here]
A station built into a small valley by a main road and some new developments. Interesting to see an Amazon Hub here, though!
✅ Station 176: Lichfield City
A small island platform station in the centre of Lichfield. Not much to really say here. Chonky station building and too many bees?
✅ Station 110: Creswell
Again a tiny station for a tiny village, albeit a higher service frequency.
I like the semaphore and Railtrack references, though!
✅ Station 137: Kirkdale
Another industrial station near a main road. The architecture is amazing, and has a decent service frequency as it is on a junction.
✅ Station 136: Hooton
With a few train nerd crackheads (
@jackrailsecre
,
@HettingEwan
, Willow) I went to the depths of the Wirrel Line!
Because of flooding, Hooton was the terminus and none of the platforms were being normal.
✅ Station 107: Retford
A great place to view the ECML at high speeds, especially because of the signals giving you prior warning and the lack of passengers getting in the way 😁
A zooooooooom a
🌕 NET at Twilight
Northern thought it would be funny to P-Code my connection so I got a permit to go via Nottingham back home. As I can't break journey, I decided to do some tram photography for the hour. These are some of the highlights.
Over the month of August, I will be raising money for
@ProstateUK
by completing two cycle rides.
One of these will be from Lincoln to Beeston and the other to Hull.
Whether you share or donate, the support is greatly appreciated!
✅ Station 114: Long Eaton
It's like Eton, but Long!
In all seriousness, it's a weirdly placed station in a quaint Derbyshire town, albeit with great accessibility! The bike rack looking poles are a bit weird though.
✅ Station 191: Birmingham Moor Street
Quite small for one of the terminus of Birmingham. Desperately needs a link to BHM and through running platforms, imo.
✅ Station 142: Fazakerley
Try say that ten times fast 😂
Cool station with a nice view over the tracks. A hospital and Lidl are next to it. Can't complain.
✅ Station 123: Birkenhead North
The junction between the two northern wirrel branches, and the first fully outdoors station on both branches. The station is very much a junction in a suburb, although is very quaint.
Nice train wash outside!
✅ Station 104: New Clee
I'm sorry, this station is just sad. It serves an Aldi and a thousand warehouses. An oversized platform too.
There's wheelchair access, which is something I guess.
Just because you don't understand a protected class doesn't mean they are actively trying to harm you or your people. Fuck queerphobes.
#IStandAgainstJKRowling
🎉 Station 100: Stallingborough
The fact the conductor asked me if I was taking a quick train photo or alighting should say everything about the popularity of this station 😂
But hey! It's my hundredth station and therfore will forever have a place in my heart ❤️
✅ Station 117: Liverpool Lime Street
One of the grand termini of the UK. Honestly, I'm quite suprised at the lack of fare gates; it felt like I was walking out illegally 😂
Anyways, Merseyrail here I come 😈
🚄 Right then boys, girls and pals, it's time for the Southport and Ormskirk station checking megathread!
As there are so many, don't expect a giant ramble for every station.
🚀 It's landed!
🎉 Steve has pledged to have a rapid transit system up and running to the region's airport and football stadia by 2028.
🚊To help develop those plans, a Glider is being tested across the region this week.
👀 Keep your eyes peeled and let us know if you spot it!
✅ Station 181: Lowdham
A small station near Thurgaton. Some very intriguing and old timey station decorations 😁
Oh yeah, I checked this when cycling to Beeston for
@ProstateUK
. You can donate here:
I love how the far right pretends to not be another "sheep" and yet are literally protesting at a non-existent immigration lawyer's office because they were told to online.
Lincolnshire Police, I wish you the very best for tonight and hope you all come home safely.
Tomorrow I will cycle 15mi to train for the Beeston leg of my Cycle the Month campaign. Any good ideas from Lincoln?
If you would like to donate to Prostate Cancer UK, you can do so here --->
✅ Station 178: Harrow and Wealdstone
The terminus of the Bakerloo line. Me and
@bezz_da
got the infrequent Southern service to Watford Junction to get there!
Not many photos because I was very eepy, caffiene deprived and had heatstroke 😅
✅ Intercity 125: Wallesey Grove Road
(wait it's Station 125? Oh.)
A good sized station in a good area with a good sized car park. Overall, it's quite good tbh.
No photos can describe the beauty of the Fledborough Viaduct... if you are local, I urge you to visit it yourself.
From here, I leave NCR-647 and will continue on roads until Nottingham.
I am doing this ride for
@ProstateUK
. You can donate at:
✅ Station 133: Birkenhead Park
Thanks
@thegirlchlo
for pointing out that I got Conway and Birkenhead mixed up. Easy mistake ig.
Have some photos of random station number one hundred and thirty three
Most of the time, customers will pay a 30% markup on their food and an additional 78p delivery with a £3 service charge. The rider is then given a small portion of that, and Uber takes a cut of 30% from the restaurants (to my knowledge).
🚂 Lincolnshire Wolds Railway: I had a great day today at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, a small bit of track by Louth preserved!
Incredible rolling stock, great staff and quaint stations. What else can you ask for?
✅ Station 183: Hatch End
✅ Station 184: Wilsden Junction
✅ Station 185: West Hampstead
✅ Station 186: West Hampstead Thameslink
✅ Station 187: Brent Cross West
Went all over London with
@bezz_da
a couple weeks back. Forgot to check half of the stations 😅
✅ Station Adalante: Thurgaton
Technically not the 180th Station (I haven't talked about last week much yet), but i just arrived at this quaint station in the middle of nowhere!
It's cute, nice building, nice sandbags... nice station
✅ Station 194: Birmingham Snow Hill
Indeed a station. Disused tram terminus. I forgot to take any photos, sorry.
✅ Station 195 Civity: Smethwick Galton Bridge
The people: we want an easy to use station with easy platform interchange
British Rail: HOLD MY BEER 🍻
