Well .. been told 2xs yesterday that I charge too much, 1x today, & another wouldn't contract in writing, only on phone, which holds no legal protection for either party. All in all, a typical day for a freelance artist. Oh, & Goodkind bashing his cover artist all over facebook.

I've always been partial to Whelan's (my demigod) work. One day, I tweeted him that I, "regularly blame you for my choosing to become a cover artist." He tweeted back, "oh no, not my fault! Twas Frazetta who motivated me, the blame goes to him:-)" Does it get better than that?

Ppl who claim not to judge a book by its cover are lying, if not to others, to themselves. The cover may not be a deciding factor to read or buy the book, but it made them stop long enough to read the title &/or blurb. That's the cover's sole job. Decades of research proves it.

@momamcconnell @CrysCurtisArt I'm embarrassed & insulted for the artist. Some ppl think it was a publicity stunt, but the artist commented, too. He said he'd never been treated so unprofessionally his entire career. I'd give my left arm to create a TOR cover. To be treated like that publicly makes me rethink.

Can my writer-friends please explain why we are dumbing down books more than we were in the 80's and 90's? The average novel was 8th-grade reading level The average newspaper 5th But now, authors are told to keep their comprehension level down to 5th grade or lower. Why?

I don't get it ... I don't get-it ... I spent decade studying my craft to be recognized for my work rather than my ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disabilities. Then suddenly, about 5 yrs ago, unless I divulge I'm "X", I can't be hired? How isn't that the same crap in reverse?
