If you read one thing today, make it this. @Tieran711 , in a collaboration with @ydouright , @eli2722 , @WillSugeStats peel back the curtain on pitch tunneling. They reveal the stat to follow, the "miracle pitch", and how #Dodgers remain elite.

Yankee's pitching collapse seems to coincide with a very odd change in the team's pitch usage.

Nick Frasso is a really good pickup for the Dodgers. He has one of the highest whiff% in all of MiLB. He releases the ball 3 feet from the center of the rubber. He has an electric fastball with rise and run. His changeup gets over 20 inches of run. Full gyro slider at 85 too.

The inability to hit breaking balls is a problem many top prospects encounter after making the MLB. So here’s a short list of prospects that are elite at hitting the breaking ball: Evan Carter Parker Meadows Corbin Carroll Austin Wells Joey Loperfido Michael Busch

Welcome to MiLB Player Cards 2.0. I only do cards for hitters. All red/blue numbers are percentiles, all numbers below are the actual numbers. CPX doesn't have accurate play by play so some of their numbers are messed up. Comment your favorite MiLB hitter and I'll QT their card!

TUNNELING THREAD: #RedSox pitcher Bryan Bello splits primary (fastball) usage by hitter handedness, throwing the sinker more against righties and his four-seamer against lefties. He also does this for the changeup, using it more with the four-seamer against lefties.

Chayce McDermott is one of my favorite pitching prospects. Low release with a mid 90s, rising fastball. He will be a VAA monster. The slider is also a plus pitch. Changeup isn't thrown very often and with little feel, but it has great fade and has the potential for above average.

Clay Holmes ditched the sweeper today and opted for a 91 MPH gyro slider instead. He only threw 2, but it could be a sign of things to come. It’s another example of toning down pure stuff to help the entire arsenal synergize, similar to what Andrew Heaney did last offseason.

Trevor Story had a 107 pwOBA in 2021. The stat has a lower standard deviation than wOBA to increase predictiveness but a 107 is elite. The star also factors for variables like park size. This year he ranked above Alex Bregman, Brandon Lowe, Bo Bichette and Kris Bryant.
