Today, Maribye the leopard received surgery to the wound inflicted by a cable snare. For a week WE monitored him with the fantastic Sabi Sand Nature Reserve team. They decided a second intervention was necessary and today darted him and then a specialist vet stitched his wounds.
WE have exciting news - Queen Tlalamba has two healthy cubs, estimated around six weeks old. They are denning on Torchwood (east of Djuma). We can’t wait to meet the new additions to the royal leopard lineage. We would like to thank Bernie from Torchwood for the picture and

Maribye, the young male leopard, was found with a snare around his neck today. He has been treated by vets and is now recovering . The prognosis is good. The SSNR acted with great speed.
We understand the anger many will feel, but please refrain from contacting the Sabi Sand.
Despite horrid burn wounds and several lion attacks, the old rhino cow, known as Auntie, was a successful mother and joy to us all. Sadly she died three nights ago of natural causes. We will cherish the memories that we have shared with her. May she rest in peace.

Maribye male leopard update - 2 days after the surgery to repair his snare wound, this beloved cat was seen in Torchwood around an area called First Rock. He knows the area well and was actually named for it. Maribye was in a tree and looking well.
