Last May Michael Gove guaranteed food produced to lower standards would not enter the UK, this week, the government has signed a 3 year deal allowing tariff free imported cane sugar, grown with 20 products I am banned from using in growing sugar beet. 🤷‍♂️🤬

Today we said a final goodbye to my father, 3 days short of 95. A wonderful, kind, generous man who was a pioneer in farming in his day. His sense of humour had everyone cry with laughter. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. ❤️

Dear @michaelgove Thanks to your decision to ban neonic seed treatment, I am spraying this field of oil seed rape off with #glyphosate due to cabbage stem flea beetle damage making it uneconomic to continue trying to produce a crop. Seed wasted: £1,940 on this field. Thanks. 😳

Food labelling needs to be clear and accurate. The public wants to buy British - when produce is from a British source, it needs to be properly labelled. Integrity is crucial and mislabelling foreign produce as British is entirely wrong. Lots of work required!🇬🇧

Very interesting driving through Holland.Yes, the fields are wet but no flooding due to regular maintenance/dredging. Last flood was 1953. So much for climate change causing floods which shows when the rivers are managed it doesn’t happen. No field margins either. @Bayer4CropsUK

Went to see the extent of the flooding east of Lincoln today, this due to a collapsed river bank. Horrendous. The wildlife destruction will be unthinkable. The government needs to have a full investigation with @EnvAgency Farmers livelihoods and well being are starting to suffer.

This, a result of government policy banning a seed treatment. ⬇️ 6 yrs ago the UK grew 1.8million acres of oil seed rape, today it’s around 850k. Ukraine has since supplied the shortfall ……… not now. This is 1 example of our incompetent government’s impact on food security.

I’m lost for words. Today the @EnvAgency stopped the drainage board maintaining our local drain due to it being too full of water to leave 10% uncut on each side. With another storm due, there’s ours and neighbours business/livelihoods at stake @wheat_daddy @peter_levy

The soaring cost of food is massively worrying. And yet the Government is continuing to pursue policies which will see the UK produce less of the food that it eats. The Government must back Britain's farmers if we are to tackle food poverty.
